Halo invented the FPS genre and was a big influence for Valve when they were developing Half Life.
Seriously though, Doom.
i will have to say goldeneye because after that game we began to see plenty of FPs on consolesEmperorZeruelGoldeneye? Please fanboy. Halo was more innovative for console fps by far
Doom of course. Half life is second because it felt like the thinking mans FPS. Halo did nothing special imho. Probably made recharging health popular.finalfantasy94That, and made left trigger grenade throws popular.
In all honesty, anyone that doesn't say Doom is a fanboy, of is ignorant.
Not to be rude, but Doom put it on the map. Without it, Goldeneye and Halo wouldn't exist, which is the meaning of impact.
Doom, this shouldn't even be a question. Doom is definetly the second most important FPS ever made (first being Wolfenstein, for creating the genre), and certainly the most influential for having been the one who actually put the genre out there.
[QUOTE="darkspineslayer"]goldeneye invented the headshot....instant winninjaxamsrare invented viva piniata...instant loss :P touche!
but that was after rare left nintendo, and a good chunk of rare with it
Overall-Doom
Console wise-Halo, without Halo FPS on consoles would be not as popular as it is now and days.
[QUOTE="organic_machine"]Doom. Followed by Halo. Take note, Halo was not innovative. But it DID have an impact on the industry. krp008
Halo was very innovative for console FPS's. Read the GS review to refresh your memory
Was it? It was a simplified FPS, made specifically for a controller. And it worked well and played smoother than most console FPS. That is great and all, but innovative? I wouldn't go that far.
