For me it's SW: Republic Commando. Even though it's mostly scripted, delta squad are still awesome.

[QUOTE="Doom_HellKnight"]The majority of the cast across the Mass Effect games, with only a few that spoil the lineup. Jack, for example... sts106mati just really really disliked her, and Zaeed, what ***** he was. but then thats the point of the story, sort of a bunch of random misfits but the best at what they do, like an interstellar A-Team LOL .
The DLC characters were meh. The only said a few lines when you tried to interact with them.
^ I agree with on this 100%. I would like to include Persona 4, 3 FES, GTA4, Uncharted 1,2 ,Half Life 2Mass Effect series, Red Dead Redemption and surpsisingly Deadly Premonition.

Half life 2, Zelda, KH.... Above all, MGS. All great characters.... except Volgin, that douchebag.San_09
He is undoubtedly the worst character in MGS history.
Monkey Island kills everything in terms of characters, particularly Curse because of the Barbery Coast guys, Rottingham, Blondebeard, and Griswold Goodsoup.
Also good are Persona 4, Bad Company 2 (the characters are CRIMINALLY underused in that btw), Uncharted 2, and of course Deadly Premonition.
Sadly I can name about 10 times as many games with cringe-inducingly bad and/or stiflingly boring characters.
Paws up, that's a good one. I would have said Beyond good and Evil. Jade is one of the best protagonists evah.
[TF2 pic]Which is impressive for a multiplayer game

Beyond good and Evil... The only game I have played that seemed to express genuine emotion
on the comical side, Pikmin series. Olimar, Louie, the president, and the AI of the ship are all hilarious
Mass Effect, When Mordin died during my suicide mission I was so broken I went back and did the the mission again just to save him lol. I also really like Garrus and Tali Zorah. Everyone in ME is cool. I didnt care much for jacob though.... maybe cuz I didn't play a Female shep. The Justicar was awesome too!
These are my favorites, and my favorite character in each game mentioned.
Best video game characters: The Witcher (Geralt of Rivia)
Best video game characters that did not originate from any other medium: Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu (Alvis)
Most surprisingly good video game characters: Team Fortress 2 (Heavy)
Kain and Raziel from Legacy of Kain.

Not only do I agree with the LoK characters but I also loved Carnivà le.
It seems we have very similar taste. :)
I would also like to add the Psychonauts characters, especiallyDogen Boole.
It's a tough job to decide between ME2 and KoTOR, both had a awesome cast of characters plus the main character.
.
The cool thing about ME2 is that even if some characters are somewhat a stereotype, there are things that make them unique. Tane for exemple, the assassin that is somehow peaceful is not something new, but the fact that he's a drell and they remember every second of their life makes it different from any other assassin out there. Every character in ME2 has something good about them, some more, some less.
.
In KoTOR however, I feel that some characters are outstading, and others I really don't care for, not that they are bad, but the others are much better. Jolee, HK-47 and Bastilla are easily one of the best characters I've seen in a videogame.
.
Even though I don't know witch come in first, in third it would be HL2 and it's Episodes.
Certainly not the best story, but the Metal Gear Solid series has very memorable and fleshed out characters.
I think Metal Gear Solid 1, all the heroes were likeable like Gray Fox, and even the villians, i mean Sniper Wolf was so cool and her background story was a very powerful moment, at least for me, so yeah, i'm going to say MGS1.
