No more than 20 people should be voting in this poll because that's the amount of people on these boards that probably have both games, lol. In my eyes if you have one great racing sim why would you want another UNLESS it was either:

1) A much better game

2) You're an auto nut

Both different games. GT5 is better with the driving aspect, whereas Forza 3 is better with customization. Overall I would say GT5 since it is an overall better driving experience.

is it strange that as soon as I bought gt5 I started replaying forza 3 :? I donno. i really wanna get into gt5 because I've always been a fan but it just takes tooo damn long to load:evil: I'm sure I will though and it will probably consume most of my time just the way forza did when I first got it. When u start these games its just soo hard to stop:(

Forza. According to Gamerankings' score, it seems Forza has dethroned GT. Unfortunate seeing as it's been like 10 years since the last GT and only a few between the previous Forza.

Highly unlikely that anyone has both especially since people are posting GT5 and offering no explanation or reasoning to their answer whatsoever....so basically an Xbox vs. PS3 thread.

Forza 3 by a long shot. I just went back to it tonight for a few races to make sure my impressions of GT5 weren't so sour. I've spent about 120 hours with Forza 3 and almost 30 hours in GT5 now. GT5 has some nice ideas and a surprisingly decent handling model, but everything else is one notch above garbage. The recent patch has helped a bit, but even the most basic of interface issues and streamlining are completely insane. Forza 3's entire interface is beautiful and quick - GT5's is convoluted and painfully slow. The most basic tasks become painful - Forza 3 shows you colour-coded boxes on the career mode indicating which events your current car can enter. GT5 requires you to enter extra menus to see which cars are required, which ones you have that are eligible, and god help if you if you have to go and buy a car because you have to remember what the specifics are and then manually check vehicles one by one. Forza 3 lets you search all cars (not just your garage) by pretty much any parameter. And then the racing itself. Handling is very comparable between the two games, with GT5 taking a slight edge for having a more raw feel with all the assists off. Unfortunately, it comes at the expense of the sense of grip, of which you have none (save the ear-piercing sound of nails on a chalkboard that they've substituted for tire squeals), and cheap tires are modeled horribly. There are more opponents in GT5, of course, but as they're so dumb I'm not sure if that's really an advantage or not, or the framerate drops that occur when everyone enters a corner at once and you get the close LOD models all at the same time. Forza 3 runs smoother, has no tearing, and no weird issues like GT5's incredibly low resolution effects buffers that gives the 8bit look to shadows and car edges when subjected to smoke/snow/rain. The rain effects in GT5 (while not present at all in Forza 3) are downright embarassing. Apparently no one thought to copy PGR4. And in terms of tuning and customization...again, Forza 3. There are more options for upgrades/tweaks (engine swaps, brakes, tire compound and tire width) and the tuning menu gives you actual parameters and not just Polyphony's dumbed down numerical systems. I'm not even going to mention more than 'painting' itself because GT5's disposable paint chip system is embarassing compared to Forza 3's limitless painting, let alone the decal editor and online store where you can buy other player's designs with in-game credits. The Nascar/rally/Top Gear additions to GT5 are also pretty lame, and aren't worth much more than the bullet points on the box. Top Gear events are wasted with the low power cars and joke events, Nascar is nightmare inducing thanks to Zombie Jeff Gordon (and the events are no more fun than turning a corner) and rally is severely underutilized...which is probably a good thing considering how bad the game's rendition of dirt and snow is.

Lol I just traded in gt5 today for Heavy Rain and MAG. It felt like a chore to play GT5. Especially when i'm struggling to get through the crappy menus while listening to elevator music. Good driving maybe, but it's wrapped in one terrible package of a game

On a serious note, TC. Do you really think you're gonna get a straight answer from cows who hyped GT5 as the second coming ultra gfx king, and now are trying to justify GT5's failure. It flopped for a reason.

Blinblingthing

Marginally better driving physics, although they're negated by the awful tire physics.

Everything else goes to Forza - even graphics, which is never something I thought I'd say pre-GT5 launch. GT5 looks like ass outside of its photomode output.

edit - GT5 doesn't have more content, either. Even ignoring Forza 3's overlong career mode, the game has more tracks and a lot more variety in the races available for different types of cars. GT5 gives you 36 races and a couple dozen special events that range from mediocre to terrible.

Yea I was pretty disappointed with it's graphics as well. The pixelated shadows alone make it look terrible

The Fanatec wheel and Clubsport pedals are not "pisspoor wheel support". The Fanatec wheel is arguably better than Logitech's. Perhaps they're not easy to attain, but they support Forza 3 more than adequately.

sorry but supporting just a couple of wheels is pisspoor. i can plug pretty much any wheel in to my PS3 or PC.

The best thing was when one of my acquaintances has said about Forza 3 one year ago: "Forza 3? Does its graphics are even HD?", now I bet he'd still make delusional claims how GT5 looks better. I wonder what would happen if I quoted what he has said now. He'd probably go into some idiotic phallacy to make him look knowledgeable like he always does, and then he'd sidetrack from the topic altogether. He can NEVER acknowledge that Sony made even 1 bad thing (or he spins it in a very buoyant way), what I'm trying to bring with him is not the fact Microsoft is the best or something, but that it also can do things right, and Sony is not a Jesus of gaming, it can also make bad decisions. But no, every single argument against Sony must be countered with some nasty remark against Microsoft - as if I even cared.

GT5. but only because the 360 has such pisspoor wheel support and my Logitech DFGT won't work with it. and i now refuse to play a racing game with a pad, it would be like playing rockband with a pad

The Fanatec wheel and Clubsport pedals are not "pisspoor wheel support". The Fanatec wheel is arguably better than Logitech's. Perhaps they're not easy to attain, but they support Forza 3 more than adequately.

getting a fanatec is only slightly more likely than getting a unicorn, try walking into a store and saying ill have forza3 and a 900 degree wheel please, yet you can walk into any store and get gt5 and a 900 degree wheel

Even with the patch I still think that Forza 3 is a better game.

Actually it is. While the fanatec wheel is a lot better than Logitech's efforts, it's really the only wheel you can use with the 360, PS3 & PC. That's pretty crappy.
