FM3 also has wheel support or have you never heard of fanatec?
the official forza fanatec wheel was limited to 10,000 units and had to be preordered, it was only available to some countries. I'd hardly call that wheel support.
mean while I can buy a gt5 wheel at most electronic and games stores anywhere in the world for the half the price of a mythical fanatec
I have both, proof on my profiles. But I can't really give a proper opinion. For starters, Forza 3 is less sim-like compared to GT 5, but its a better game. While GT 5 is a monster sim and Forza 3 not.
So, gamewise, Forza 3, but since both look to be Sims, and I bought both for the same purpose, which is: I want a Sim, GT 5 has the upper hand. Even when some customization options are not on yet. Also, the Wheel support for Forza is its biggest problem, as the 360 wheel is like a cheap crappy wheel that I will not buy ever in my life.
So, for a Game, Forza 3 has the upper hand. Sim? GT 5 no doubt. Not only it has better physics, it also has a bigger wheel support
@kate_jones Actually Fanatec announced a new wheel, the GT2. It is basically identical to the limited edition 911 Turbo S except for the way it looks. It still expensive as hell, but it isn't going to be limited. http://www.fanatec.de/html/index.php?id=2302&lang= daviwinn
well thats a start and it will help with forza4 (I have no doubt fanatecs are high quality), hopefully one day they will ship them worldwide.

I know it does. Never seen one in stores. Plus, how good is the wheel itself? Does it have a clutch? 900 degree turning? Force feedback? If not, it's not giving the best experience.
It has all of that, check out the video in my sig. For console racing the Fanatecs are hands down the best wheels on the market. And if you are not a 360 gamer, then you can save about $100 by getting the getting one without xbox compatibility. You won't find them in stores though, you have to buy from their website http://www.fanatec.de/It has all of that, check out the video in my sig. I am a 360 gamer, but I already own a G27. :P

the fanatecs are are very well respected, but they cost a lot around 600usd if your in one of the countries they sell to, they are available in europe, usa and canada.

That proves (if you can even say that much) that GT5 is the superior sim (albeit not by much),
psn8214
I wouldn't say that. Even with all assists off, Forza still feels, er, unnatural. I do believe it is some form of active steering. Try slamming your analog stick to the left or right in a turn and observe the car's reaction. Cars aren't as responsive either (which is not taking oversteer/understeer into account). GT5 isn't worlds better, and it's certainly an inconsistent game that pales in comparision to Forza in a number of game aspects, but as a pure sim, I'd say the driving model is better enough that you cannot dismiss it as "[not being better] by much."
Edit: Note that I haven't played Forza with a wheel, so I'm not sure how much that changes the experience.
Eh, I don't really find them to be that different, even playing with a controller. When I plugged up my wheel, (an official MS wheel I snagged for cheap) and took a Nissan GT-R and a Audi R15 to Fujimi Kaido and Circuit de la Sarthe respectively, I didn't feel any difference between Forza 3 and GT5 and both, with all the assists (except ABS) turned off, felt believable to me. The differences are just too subtle in my experience to say that Forza is noticably less realistic than GT5.[QUOTE="psn8214"]Eh, I don't really find them to be that different, even playing with a controller. Try it. Maybe I have more discerning standards when it comes to racing sims, but the sense of control in Forza is noticeably diminished. It's the superior package to GT5, but in terms of actual driving... yeah.

I have tried it and like I said, I don't see that big of a difference between the two games.[QUOTE="pimpog"]

I honestly had no idea I found mine used at gamestop for 75 bucks plus tax. I forget that not everybody lives in new york city.
Looks like despite all the Flaws you noted, GT5 still managed to simulate Laptimes more accurately.
I guess that was Kaz's priority, Looks like he nailed it.
It doesn't really prove anything, though - three laps isn't much of a test, and it's easy to have wildly varying lap times if a person isn't consistent. Couple that with different controllers/wheels from game to game and you have a pretty looking image that says almost nothing. And even if the lap times are that much closer in GT5, it doesn't make the game any more fun.[QUOTE="The_Game21x"] I have tried it and like I said, I don't see that big of a difference between the two games. psn8214
I do. Guess I am more discerning in my sim racers then. ;)
Eh, I doubt it but whatever. We can agree to disagree.[QUOTE="psn8214"][QUOTE="The_Game21x"] I have tried it and like I said, I don't see that big of a difference between the two games. The_Game21x

Eh, I doubt it but whatever. We can agree to disagree.Well given that you say there's little discernable difference between the handling models in terms of pure realism, yes, looks like that's the only path. :P It's cool though, you're forgiven for supporting ME2 for GOTY.

$600? No, I picked my GT 2 wheel for $250. There is a bundle deal that comes with the wheel, clubsport pedals, and I believe a stand for $500-600, maybe that's what you're thinking of.[QUOTE="kate_jones"]
