Crysis looks to be the most impressive of the two,especially modded(and considering the size of the world),at the very least it´s by far the better game.
Crysis requires mods or at the very least supersampling to look good, the jaggies on the trees and grass ruin the whole image otherwise. Plus loads of the textures look dated now so without mods Killzone wins as far as I'm concerned.
Crysis 3 is the best looking game out now though so Crytek still has their crown.

I'm pretty sure these mods where available in 2007 since they're just simple "time of day" mods, they're nothing more than a text file (xml to be specific). All these mods do is change some variables in the games, so if you change a few variables in 2014 then it's still the same 2007 game, plus some of the screenshots are from Crysis Warhead (2008) and no one complains about that.

Both games have their merits in what is done. But the fact is that KZ SF is the more advanced game with modern rendering. However the only reason why KZ looks as good as it does is because its a linear and smaller scaled game. Now if we were to compare KZ with Cryengine 3 with Crysis 3, KZ falls short to impress.

True, but how can they be human if they think Killzone: SF looks better than Crysis?
I could see it better than the original crysis (unmodded) in many aspects. Now, versus Crysis 3, not so much
I admire the high resolution textures and beautiful vegetation in Crysis, I don't think Killzone: SF looks good in those aspects. Look at those trees in Killzone: SF...
I see choppiness in both. That desperate Crysis mod only screams i'm desperate for attention in my eyes.. and that awful rain in KS:SF looks bad. I'll give my vote to New Super Mario 3D land because it's not an eye sore to look at like that modded crysis and i'll give a free pass to Kz:SF for trying without modifications.

Well it may be 7 years old but Crysis 1 was built for future PCs at the time. I don't remember any 2007 PCs that could fully max it at the time.
The irony is strong in this thread. Claiming Crysis looks better than Killzone: Shadow Fall is the equivalent to claiming Killzone 2 looks better than Crysis.
Pc elitists will cheat by spamming modded screenshots but the fact of the matter is Killzone: Shadowfall is currently the the most visually superior title on the market to date. Also excellent thread.
KZSF isn't even the best looking console game, so how in the world can you think it beats PC games.
Crysis still looks better than KZSF overall. They both have some weaker spots, but at its best Crysis definitely looks better. With mods the gap just gets bigger.

What? That gif isn't very impressive. Doesn't look much better than Halo 4 for example. Crysis still has far more impressive physics and particle effects.

Miles better? Not at all. It doesn't even look better. Modded, yes you have a case. The physics were impressive back then, but now that I look at it, it wasn't that special. It was cool blowing up tiny shacks the first few times. Crysis has a lot of bad textures. Most notably being the ground and the rocks. Crysis 3 on PC would be a much better competition.
Give me a sheep, lem or hermit to have a conversation with over a cow any day. In my experience, 9 times out of 10 when someone says something stupid about the PC it is a cow.
