SMG looks good but seriously brawl doesn't look that good. And all of those ps2 games I posted keep a very steady frame rate through out the game

Silent Hill 3 uses Fixed cameras to reduce it's polygon load.

RE4 kind of sealed my decision on this match up. SMG also looks better then anything on the ps2, though ps2 games running in upscaled 720p/1080i on the ps3 would make for a tougher competition, yet I still give the edge to the Wii.

I think the original Xbox vs Wii would have been much closer.

the gamecube was allready more powerfull than the Ps2. but most people who ACTUALLY play games knew this...

you however just shout random stuff just to upset others.

No it doesn't . MGS3 has alot more polygons in enviroments and character models and better lighting effects and better water effects. It also wasn't as linear. It just had a lower frame rate.

It wasn't fixed like resident evil remake but you didn't have any control over it.. The camera followed you when you were moving and when you turned around.

SMG does look better than MGS3, and the framerate never dips below 60FPS. MGS3's routinely goes below 30.

I wouldn't say "criminal" jaggies - sure there are some though. You can't say those screens don't look good - and they look even better in motion at a constant 60 FPS.

well, Ps3 and 360 have higher resolutions. the jaggies are way smaller and sometimes even barely there.

Wii and PS2 have too appearent jaggies imo. .. can't stand them i think they are unimmersive.

Well its hard to compare the two since MGS is a cutscene fest and SMG isnt. But yeah I'd say so. And the rest of Mario's body is far more detailed.

EDIT: I also forgot to mention the shaders that SMG has in my previous post.

you see. there people go again compairing wii to ps2. speaks volumes about how people view the wii. when it's best deffence is to challenge a last gen system

MP3 is the only good looking game on wii. RE4 was a direct port of the GC version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W25ajNBTkKk evrything else just looks like an updated GC game

geordie73

Take off your fanboy goggles and look at some SSBB and SMG screens, please. It's clear you're being a moron here.

haha had a wii since launch buddy and just sold it. SMG is overated clocked in a few days. and as for looks, it's bright and colourful but hardly breaks the mould does it? sorry nintendo just doesn't cut it with me any more. to me nintendos new approach to gaming is like political correctness, everyones involved, nobdy benefits, everyone suffers. and i thought cows where the worst????

haha, compare it to the other GOTY nominees. Its art design is totally and completely different to all those games, as well as pretty much every AA+ game last year.

To make picture comparisons even worse: When You play a game it looks better than on video or worse. It's because of smart development. They use beautiful things where You look, not so beautiful where You don't. In a picture or even video You pay attention to things You wouldn't see ingame.

on a technical level, wii obhiously. theres no question. games like SMG and MP3 floor anythign the PS2 can muster. on a technical level....SOTC is it on the PS2. thats it firing on all cylinders. its very pretty (and acrackin game...everyone get it if u havent) but even TP on the gamecube is a more sophisticated game from a technical standoint.

on an artistic level....well okami is just so bloody gorgeous imho. windwaker is the closest thing to it. of course okami is coming to the wii so that doesent really prove anything.

SMG does not look better than MGS3

It does by far.

No it doesn't . MGS3 has alot more polygons in enviroments and character models and better lighting effects and better water effects. It also wasn't as linear. It just had a lower frame rate.

Actually SMG outdoes MGS3 on all those points, save for the lighting effects.

More detail in Mario's face than the boss's face . You gotta be kidding me.

Im going to have to say even lighting effects, Galxay is just overly bright so you don't notice how good the lighting is. OH BTW there are more polys in Marios face then the bosses. What game were you playing.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Picture

which game were you playing. I'll post heather's pics from sh3 if you want

And one of these games is actually ingame.

all of MGS3 'S cutscenes are in-game

They are in-engine. That doesnt mean they look the same like the ingame graphics.

Yes it does , it realy does.

The gamecube cranked about better graphics in every multiplat released on the Gamecube and PS2 (according to IGN's head-to-head comparissons). Even if the Wii was "two gamecubes stuck together with duct tape" it'd be better by default. LOL and picking the most graphically advanced PS2 game and putting it against one of the least graphically advanced Wii games. This is like putting a XBLA arcade title against the best (in terms of graphics) PS1 game and saying, "wow, PS1 > 360"

Even though Wii might end up with better graphics at the end of gen, for a console thats less than half the power of Wii, these graphics can easily surpass if not on paar with Wii games.

In-engine cutscenes are the SAME as actual gameplay. Even your mario pic is in-engine. Then why did people care if RE4 FOR PS2 'S cut-scenes being pre-rendered?Because if it was in-engine the diffrences would be noticed easier which prooves the fact in-game cutscene=in-game gameplay.

In-engine is basically the same as in-game. The difference however is, is that an in-engine cutscene can be polished in a way that looks a lot better. Perfect camera angles, perfect lighting etc etc. But like I said, even if it didnt matter, SMG still looks better.

No man seriosly MGS3 has alot more detail in almost everything. It just has a lower frame rate. But the Wii can produce better graphics easily it is just up to the devs

RazMaTaz-1

Screen shot 1 is a doctered promo Screen. The ps2 dose not run games in 1024x768

Screen shot 2 is in replay mode and is also in a higher resolution than the Ps2 supports.

Screen shot 3 is not in game and not impressive.

Screen shot 4 is shrunk and will be hiding flaws. Aslo GOW cheats with mixing pre-rendering with polygonal models.

SMG has textures and lighting that the PS2 can't produce. I can't believe you used No More Heroes as the Wii showcase for graphics. *sigh*

Agreed. hell...go to the freezeflame galaxy (the ice side) and look at the shimmering effects on the ice walls.
