I can't believe windwaker is even in the list, it's dungeons were a joke. The meat of Zelda is in the dungeon variety and design, windwaker was utter crap in this regard.
The change from 2d perspective in games to 3d perspective actually made a difference to gameplay (not always for the better). Faux-3d (stereoscopic 3-d effect used for "3-d" movies/tv/gaming) does not actually have any impact on gameplay. Further, faux-3d is purely an effect, whereas the difference between 2-d and 3d perspecttive in games actually involves programming graphics with x and y coordinates versus programming an x, y and z coordinate. Therefore a 2-d perspective game played on a fancy 3-d tv, while it may 'pop out of the screen' or whatever, is less 3-d than a 3-d perspective game played on a regular tv. In other words, you fail.It must have been a Virtual Boy Zelda title. To my knowledge that is the only 3-D system Nintendo has ever put out. Legend of Zelda Virtual Boy anyone?

Edit: but A Link to the Past is still the best Zelda.
Ocarina of Time>Wind Waker>Twilight Princes>Majoras Mask
OOT is my favorite game of all time. And Wind Waker is my favorite game of last gen.
I have to admit that I haven't beaten Majora's Mask. I got it on the Virtual Console, and the save system is a little annoying. If I waste too much time in a dungeon, I basically have to reset to the first day. And I'm on the second dungeon and I've been having a tough time figuring it out and have gotten stuck, and I wasted up time, and had to reset. IMO this is what makes the game less enjoyable for me.princeofshapeir
Are you playing the song of time in reverse to slow down time? because I have never had a problem with running out of time doing that.
I don't see how people can vote for TP unless that was their first Zelda game. It was a good game, but it was just ok as a Zelda game. WW totally blows TP out of the water (see what I did there!?) :P
Still, I voted for OoT just because it was just an absolutely astonishing game right when it came out and is still fun to play today.
II agree there. I will NEVER understand the love it gets on this board. I hated Wind Waker in 2003, and it still sucks whenever I play it now.I can't believe windwaker is even in the list, it's dungeons were a joke. I started playing Majora's Mask last night. It is essentially Ocarina of Time in a new place with new things to do and much darker themes. I like it.
It reminds me a lot of my experience with Metroid Prime and Echoes.
1) I started into the series with Echoes (played MM for about 30-50 minutes when I got it), but then found out there was Prime.
2) Played Prime and enjoyed it (went back and went through OoT first, before its sequel)
3) Thought Prime was Super Metroid in 3D, which is a good thing (OoT is Link to the Past in 3D, which is a good thing)
4) Sat down with Echoes and discovered that it was a unique twist on the traditional Metroid formula (MM and Zelda)
5) Found Echoes to be a much better game with far less "Nintendo" traditions about it (seems to be happening with MM as well)
Windwaker definitely. I never really gave TP a chance though, Ive been trying to find a gamecube copy that doesnt cost a billion pounds but no luck, might just have to settle for the Wii version.AnjunaddictI'd really recommend the Wii version. For a port of a GC game it has pretty fun motion controls that are a lot more fun than just using the analog stick and B-button.

Not really........you either point, or wiggle the controller.

The pointer was very accurate and it was fun jabbing the nun-chuck to do shield bashes and shaking it for a spin attack. IMO I'd rather use the waggle controls than the B-button. But the new Zelda will use WM+ and more accurate motion sensing, so the haters can be satisfied.I'd really recommend the Wii version. Ocarina of Time. Twilight Princess was a sign to me that the Zelda series needs to go in a new direction.

They used a slightly enhanced Ocarina of Time engine, and reused a lot of the same character models. However, the twist is that those same characters play a vastly different role in Termina than they did in Hyrule. The characters' personalities are so different from their OoT counterparts that you will never look at some of them in the same way again. Do not get me wrong though, Nintendo added plenty of new characters as well so it doesn't feel too similar to OoT.
The twists they added onto the cIassic Zelda formula are such that it looks and plays like OoT, but is actually a very different game altogether. You are given a three day slice of these people's lives and in that short time period, you will find more depth and display of human emotion than in any other Nintendo game.
Don't stop now, though. The best is yet to come! :D
I thought the waggle completely detracted from the experience... as did the change to right-handedness. I would do anything to have my Wii version magically transform into a GC version. TP on the Wii is everything wrong with waggle and showcases why it is completely unnecessary for such games.foxhound_fox
Is this because you are left-handed or did you simply want to use Link as he was originally created?
The right-handedness irked me as well, both because Link is supposed to be a lefty and because I prefer using my left whenever I can. However, it was a necessary move if they wanted to Link's moves to motion controls. I hope they give you an option to use either the right or left in The Legend of Zelda: Wii.

Same here I'm right handed but I prefer to use my left hand with stuff like Sword fighting so that is why I hope their is a option to choose Left or Right.Nintendo is all about accessibility, so forcing people to use their non-dominant hands is a big no-no. What they SHOULD do is have the option to use either control styIe by asking which hand you want to play with at the beginning of the game and flip Link's model and animations (and those of the enemies) accordingly. I am ambidextrous and trust me, it won't be simple to teach the average person how to use their left. You are basically trying to reverse years and years of muscle memory right there, which is an insane learning curve in and of itself.
I'm right handed, weirdly.
After playing so many Zelda games and then seeing Link holding the sword with his right hand just seemed odd. It didn't detract from the gameplay, it just felt out of place inside a Zelda game. It would be like having Samus' arm cannon switch arms. They should just force it to the left hand and make everyone feel what its like to be left handed. I don't see the issue, as it would add a level of learning curve and difficulty to the game.foxhound_fox
Oh, I'm not right-handed though. They should include the option though. D:Same here I'm right handed but I prefer to use my left hand with stuff like Sword fighting so that is why I hope their is a option to choose Left or Right.

I'm sure there are better and less dumb ways to do that than forcing your hands into awkward positions. :P
Wind Waker will forever be my favorite Zelda. So far it has had my favorite story, or more specifically plot, for a Zelda game. I was actually a fan of the art direction, the cell shading giving it it's own distinctive feel from the other Zelda's. What sold me was the sailing though. I don't know why, but I absolutely loved it. Made the game more immersivefor me.
