city interactive. my reason is this. while other developer may maintain a certain level of quality they never IMPROVE their quality like c-i does. by the end of 2012 i predict that; based upon their current game review trends. will have an AE or AAE title on the shelves awaiting your money.
which is a HUGE leap from last gen's end when they were struggling to make review scores higher than 4.5/10
so in short during this gen alone they have gone from dismal scores to getting a 69on metacritic and 65 on another game thats move 2 million units worldwide. i call that progress lets see blizzard do that over 1 gen

not necissarily. and going from 35-45meta's to 69metascores is no small leap and takes quite a bit more effort on the part of the developer. i am genuinely convinced their out to turn out better games. its hard for me to say that about blizzard i genuinely believe they strive for above average quality and refuse to try and push the envelop beyond a certain point in order to milk you for content later..
SCII, WoW, diablo III
despite what ubisoft may do to pc gamers. i think somebody up top is looking out for us. he may not always get to be the leading man on things but i think they may have some value in their upper echelon. all buisnesses have a right to be a buisness and turn a profit. but it takes people with a love of an industry and its consumers to rise above. and not toss games out at mach speed or abuse franchises and playerbases in order to make that dollar.

That article is anti-Blizzard all the way. Torchlight 2 and Path of Exile will also add nothing at all to the genre. Also Ionus, Dawn of War 2 is far far far less polished and balanced than Starcraft 2 and that is not an opinion.
Goldeneye and Perfect Dark don't exist all of a sudden? If it hadn't been for those or stuff like Doom, Wolfenstein and Quake, we sure wouldn't have Halo.Bungie, for listining to their fanbase.
And for inventing the FPS on consoles.

actually it is.. and dawn of war II also happens to have a lot more in common with warcraft III than starcraft II. and WCIII is visually dated, poor in the audio department and long past its prime. the only folks play it anymore mainly play dota or hero fights.[QUOTE="ionusX"]

This is a rare case where I blame myself and it's not the devs who make bad games. But looking ahead at Anarchy Reigns and Rising Revengeance I have a gut feeling I am going to thoroughly enjoy both, so within the year Platinum may well be a dependable developer for me.No Platinum Games love in here?

Yes necessarily. It's not an opinion it's common sense. It is easier to improve upon something that was bad than it is to improve upon something that is good, provided you learn from mistakes. Maybe you've never heard of the term "set the bar high" or "raised the bar". Yes yes, it's all a conspiracy. They're releasing games which are deliberately held back from their full potential so they can throw it out in future expansions in order to milk people. As long as that Blizzard logo is on the box it'll sell and they can put out the best of their content later in expansion packs. Reviews and critique are all non-existant and people will buy the games regardless.[QUOTE="turtlethetaffer"]Opinions depress you? How could a mod like you make a thread that has the potential to invoke a fanboy tongue war? Mods should just monitor threads and maybe intervene in case a flame war erupts.Which is the developer that no matter what they release, you know your going to get your moneys worth?Second_HokageInfinity Ward.

Mods should just monitor threads and maybe intervene in case a flame war erupts.C'mon guy, I'm not a robot, and neither are any of the other mods. We're forum users like you, just with the added priveleges to monitor threads. But having that perk doesn't prohibit us from having opinions of our own, and more importantly still participating and contributing to the community. Because we are still a part of that community. So we'll still discuss with everybody else, but step in with our authority when it becomes necessary. When it comes right down to it, mods that are active are better than to just sit by the sidelines.
And getting back to us still having our opinions, the role of moderator isn't a "paying job", so we aren't required to suspend our own personality in the process. We can (and most do) have a sense of humour. I can still particpate in some harmless playful ribbing from time to time, like I did with Slashless ;) ;) . And look at his reply, he totally got it  Sorry to be abrupt but you were taking it a tad too seriously. Especially if you wanna make it in System Wars under the new TOU, you gotta grow a thicker skin :P
Oh and on a last note, I'm aware that GS is acting a bit glitchy today. It takes a long time for a post to process through and sometimes it either results in a blank page or the "Oops" message. When that happens, don't try hitting the submit button multiple times. Instead just let it get to that error screen, then back out with the browser back key and reload the thread page. You should see your message there, and just once, not 6 times. No worries I took care of it :)
Nintendo-specifically the Mario and Zelda teams, Retro, and Intelligent Systems (really underrated. Games include, Paper Mario, Wario Ware, Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, and Pushmo. Apparently they helped make a bit of Super Metroid, back in the day, too).
Valve. Not the biggest fan, but they always make expertly designed, entertaining games. Portal is, by far, their best IP.
Bioware. I'm really new to Bioware games, but dang, I love all the ones I've bought (ME2, ME3, and DAO).
As for newer developers with potential or devs starting to show more potential:
Media Molecule. If you were to ask me, I'd say these guys are the best new developers on the planet. They really know how to make just a fun and charmful game.
Rocksteady. Batman AC is awesome. AA not as much, but it's still excellent.
Bethesda. Don't really care for their games before Fallout 3 (to be fair, the only one I played before Fallout 3 was Oblivion) but Fallout 3 and Skyrim are just amazing.
Insomniac. To me, they hit a rock with ToD and somewhat with R1&2. However, CiT and R3 are just so awesome, I can't help but wait for Overstrike and whatever else they have.

The first doom, wolfenstien, and quake games were not on consoles.
And It vastly improved on goldeneye and perfect dark.
I did rephrase it in an earlier post. I wasn't being literal, but it did invent the modern shooter. No one had played a game like that when it came out.
Intelligent Systems started out as a Programming division of Nintendo until they got the chance to make their own games starting with Fire Emblem.Nintendo-specifically the Mario and Zelda teams, Retro, and Intelligent Systems (really underrated. I think that is what they did with Super Metroid.
But I agree with Nintendo, Retro, and Intelligent Systems.
1a. Nintendo EAD (ignoring them is pretty hilarious, regardless of how you view their hardware)
1b. Valve (Absolute geniuses)
Retro Studios could be on here after another game. Metroid Prime 1-3 and DKCR were brilliant, but I think you need more than 4 games to be considered. I would like to see what else they can do.
