I was just curious thats all. When I was young I kinda missed out on the first jrpgs and wrpgs cause all i cared about was pretty colors and explosions. As I grew that changed and I was introduced to FF7 hell I didint even know what RPG meant until this game. ...and for that reason it always had a special place in my heart. SO how about you guys?
I've literally never gotten into RPGs until this year. I tried a few, but could never really get into them. FFX in particular was frustrating as there was so much to like about the game, but a collection of personal annoyances prevented me from doing so (the restricted combat system and constant random battles were the main ones).
This year games like Fallout 3 and Valkyria Chronicles have really managed to open my eyes to the genre in a way that other games hadn't been able to.
Final Fantasy (the original) was my first RPG. I never did get too far in it (I normally stopped at the Marsh Cave, I think was its name). Earthbound was my first RPG that I fell in love with and enjoyed (and beat a few times, which reminds me I still have a save in Magicant that I need to beat).
KoTOR II. Yeah I was late with RPG's, I guess I wasn't good enough to have enough patience with them up until that point. Fantastic game, I really fail to see how the original was better. Save for a couple of glicthes, I thought the game was more intresting, and intense. Nar Shadaa was particularly memorable.
I played FF7 when it was new and did not like it. I do not care for turn based fighting but the only RPG that I can say I really liked was Tales of Syphonia for the GC.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Then I got reamed out by Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines.
I personally don't consider most JRPG's to be "role-playing games" since they don't involve much role-playing. My first JRPG was Super Mario RPG... and those were the days. :3
Videogames....eh It might have been this game that my friend's older brother had called Dune but for the NES I'm pretty sure that it was Final Fantasy 1 or Dragon quest whichever came 1st as I got FF1 on launch day from my local Fred Meyer's and I got Dragon Quest for re-upping my nintendo power subscription.

Pretty much the best role-playing game available. Like the Team Fortress 2 cIasses, whichever race of vampire you choose will play the game in an entirely different way. The best one has to be the Malkavian... that in itself is a whole different experience.
And the bugs are a non-issue. There are plenty of quality community patches and the game itself is worth playing despite the bugs.
I'm surprised to see how many people just started playing RPG's (judging from their first games). Its funny to see how som forum veterans are still noobs to the genre :P
I might have played something on my NES or SNES but I can't remember most games I played for it very clearly. The first RPG is was fully engrossed in was either Pokemon Red or Lunar Silver Star Story Complete...both amazing games.

Cool thanks for the info. Ill look into it more. IM pretty sure my crappy pc could run this game now.
Ultima III: Exodus on the PC, but I didn't play the whole thing only saw it at my friends house. The first one I owned and played all the way through was Dragon Warrior. Ahh, the good ole days. Thank god they're over and we now have Fallout 3.
Fallout, and it's still my favourite RPG along with Fallout 2. Before that I couldn't understand why people played RPGs, I thought they were just for nerds(and maybe they are), in fact when I was playing it I didn't actually even know that it was a RPG, I just thought it was some really cool adventure game. :P
