My first RPG was RuneQuest. I can hardly remember, but I think it was somewhere around year 1990 or something, when I was introduced to that great RPG. It is still my favorite. After that I tried little AD&D, but I didn't like it that much. I've always hated class and level systems. I like free character development more. And I think that is because I played RuneQuest first. I really couldn't understand why the rules in AD&D were so restricting.
I know that you meant what videogame RPG was my first, but I can't remember. First one that impressed me was Fallout. But still pen & pencil RPG > videogame RPG.
Pokemon Yellow, Paper Mario, and then FFX
When I played Paper Mario, which is one of my favorites of all time IMO, I didn't know it was a RPG, I just considered it Mario.
FFX really made me love the RPG genre and lead me to soo many good games so it will always hold a special place in my gaming history
It was either Final Fantasy 6 or Secret of Mana. I played them both on the first day I was introduced to rpgs but I don't remember which one I played first.
If were talking wrpgs then one of the Ultima games followed by Baldurs Gate.
