I loved both of them. But each have their pros and cons like how Mass Effect has the better story while Mass Effect 2's gameplay was a lot better.
First one was decent, definitely Bioware's worst work aside from Neverwinter Nights official campaign.
Mass Effect 2 was their 3rd best work, short of KOTOR and BG2. It was the best game I've played in years. The ending of ME2, particularly if you followed the ME storyline, was surprising.
Like ME2 much more than ME1. I hated Mako. Glad it's gone. The combat is better in ME2. Citadel (while smaller) is actually better imo in ME2 and much more fun to navigate. It was a chore in ME1 and felt too big. Most of the annoying framerate dips are gone in ME2. Far less glitches too. Also like the interactive cutscenes where you can choose renegade or paragon.
Any game that has me cheering after beating it has gone above and beyond the call of duty!. I had a good time playing Mass Effect 1 and a damn good time playing Mass Effect 2. If the game is not fun and engaging than it is not worth the time of day or the money. I think Bioware did an excellent job on the story look and play of the game. This is just my opinion but I do like a good sci fi story.
Quite literally just finished beating ME1 again so I could import my character into 2. And now in the process, got to level 50 when I only planned to do only the main missions.
ME is an awesome title but I think on the 360 at least its only 8-8.5. After now playing it on the 360 I can't believe there was so much huff and fuss over the score when it clearly deserved it. It has a ton of problems on the 360 version and just with the game itself. The mako parts (for the most) are horrible. The PC version (version I played first) is by far superior in every aspect.
But the fact that I was able to sink another 30 hours into ME on a different system after a 44 hour original playthrough is a testament to how much I enjoyed ME and its quality.
Now its (finally) time for ME2.

In a nutshell!! This is how I feel about both games. A good yarn!
[QUOTE="CaptainHarley"][QUOTE="urdead18"] How can you even call it an RPG? The only stat leveling is the points you use at the end of a mission which only affect like 4 skills per character, the enviroments are super linear and there's no inventory system. The only RPG element it has is speech.jalexbrown
fortunately, the speech/action selection is the only rpg element that matters. if stat points and 'levelling up' are seriously rpg elements then madden is an rpg.
You're joking, right? It's not one thing or the other, but the whole combination, that makes an RPG what it is. If you remove just one, then - as they say - the house of cards falls down. This is complete nonsense.
Most RPGS don't have "all the elements". They just have "enough of them".
If RPGS were required to have all of a certain list ofabritraryelements, there wouldn't be many RPGs, especially since there are so many different opinions on what constitutes an RPG, many of thembeing very narrow-minded.
I think he may have self-owned with the results of the poll lol[QUOTE="lundy86_4"]
Completely and utterly disagree TC.

I expected these results. It just feels wrong to make a thread without a poll though, so I tacked it on anyways.

No way will FF13 or the pokemon games win. Even though I'm enjoying it alot right now, and don't mind the narrow hallway thing, it hasn't gotten good enough reviews. The pokemon games are based off of gold/silver which are my favorite pokemon games, but it's still just a remake. I think the GOTY winner will come from the later part of the year, because GoW and ME2 aren't nearly strong enough to win it.
I haven't played the 2nd one but if it's anywhere near as awesome as the 1st then I know I'll love it.
So yes, you could say I like Mass Effect.
[QUOTE="Wings_008"]are the people here blind, i mean it's illogical to score 91 on metacritic and be ''garbage'' jalexbrownSo apparently it's impossible to have an opinion that varies from the majority? then you should say IMO it was garbage, not just expecting everybody to agree with you

After all, that's just one (or two depending on how you look at it) element removed, thus toppling JRPGs house of cards, right?
First one: gameplay was straight up terrible. Dialogue/plot/characters were great.
Second one: all-around great.
I hated the first one..my friend keeps telling me that its a shame I feel that way...since the second one is better
Its pretty much impossible to bring up the first one without calling it disappointing. second one was muuccch better thoe.

While the first game was beset with it technical issues, namely the framerate, load times, and clunky inventory system, it still had a compelling story set in a universe with a rich history, that you played through it with a cast of engaging characters.
I wouldn't go so far as to call the series garbage. I enjoyed both the first and the second, but I simply didn't find the games to be anything spectacular. Say whatever you will about them, the games still have quality to them.
Your opinion, though completely irrational and unsupported, is noted. The first one was garbage and the second one was slightly less garbage.

True, but it had a ton of small issues that piled up and took away from the overall experience. In my eyes, it took the game from a 9.7+ to around an 8.7-9.0I am guessing he was hoping for different results or at least it not be so lopsided in favor of people liking ME. I knew the polls would be like this though since ME 1 and 2 are just such amazing games.I love how the results of the poll in this thread completely mutilates the intent of the TC....
TheEroica
Best series this gen by a significant margin, and firmly seating itself in amongst the greatest of all times. Whether you enjoy it or not is not important as it is sadly you who are missing out, the point is most people found it to be amazing. I wish I could see why people think MW is so great but it just isn't for me.
