So, another one here.

Which company do you think has developed the best games this gen? Is it Nintendo, perenially on top with their classic franchises? Naughty Dog, who've given us this generation's biggest 'Hollywood blockbuster' titles? Or would you say it's Dice, who've not only gone ahead and given us expected titles like Bad Company 2, but also unique new IPs like Mirror's Edge? Is it Bioware, who've given us mega RPG's like Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age Origins? Then again, is it some other developer althogether?

Vote in the poll to let everyone know! Be sure to specify who you voted for, why you voted for them, and which of their title(s) you find the best that ultimately pushed you to vote for them.

Because Sony don't develop games themselves. Most of them are outsourced to second parties like Naughty Dig, Sucker Punch, Insomniac etc. Most of Nintendo's games are developed in house.

Seen as AM2, Overworks and Amusement Vision are merged and are now all considered to be part of the same development team, my vote goes to Sega Studios... not that I'm biased or anything. :)

Everyone is going to post a list but there's a difference between 'great developers this gen' and the best. Though you can likely make a case for Nintendo every generation, Naughty Dog and Bioware have each produced an amazing new IP.

God of War and Team Ico are Sony Computer Entertainment. Team Ico is part of SCEJ. God of War is part of SCEA Santa Monica.

Naughty Dog is also first party they are Sony's equivalent to Retro Studios or Intelligent Systems both have seperate names but they are wholly owned by a 1st Party developer.

They made Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, which was really impressive, even if it was different then their N64 Banjo-Kazooie titles.Other then that, Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero, I don't care for.

True, that. Analogous to Infinity Ward/Treyarch would be more like it. The point is, most of Nintendo's games are developed under the 'Nintendo' banner. Sony's games, however, are identified wholly by the development team that creates them. Media Molecule for LittleBigPlanet. Naught Dog for Uncharted. Insomniac for Rathcet and Clank/Resistance. Sucker Punch for inFamous. You get the drill. Barring Pokemon, Advance Wars, and now Metroid, that's definitely not the case with Nintendo, where Nintendo games are all just that: Nintendo games.

Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo Elements of Power, Viva Pinata, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, Jet Pack Evolved, Diddy Kong Racing DS, and a sequal to Viva Pinata.

As for the Poll I said other and I'm mentioning Intelligent Systems, Retro Studios, Treasure Co. Ltd., and Nintendo EAD.

The same thing can be said about Nintendo. The fact is, Sony does develop games, and like Nintendo, has their own in-house development studios. Team ICO. SCEA Santa Monica, SCEJ, etc.

Released a lot of consistent AA games?

~~~
Also forgot VALVe, essentially the best developer of the generation.
Naughty Dog is part of Sony's first party, which I believe is larger than Nintendo's... :/
Based on that they have the highest metascored game this or any gen right now, presumably Nintendo EAD Tokyo can be considered the best.
Why is every criticism logged against Rare this generation for being "not as good as they were on the N64"? Why can't people think of something else to criticize them for? I have yet to see a reasonable argument that actually doesn't involve their new games being compare to the N64 days.
Plus, I brought up the fact their AA because you tend to focus on review scores, and I personally thought they were all AAA titles (except PDZ, which I haven't played enough of to pass judgment on). So they consistently release a bunch of "great" games and people call into question their ability? I call that being "stuck in the past".
I fully agree with you. Nuts & Bolts easily stands up with the original N64 titles, and they continually punlish excellent content. I cannot believe that some people are still sour over Rare's aquisition by Microsoft. It really is time to move on, and recognise an excellent developer for what they are.
Also, TC, for the sake of fairness, if you are going to carve up Sony's development studios, then it would only be fair to do the same for Nintendo's; EAD Tokyo, Intelligent Systems, ect.
I think it´s a tie between those 4 in the poll. I would add Bungie, Epic, Valve and Bethersda.
I voted Bioware since Mass Effect are my favourite series.
