Who are the best game developers this gen?

Nintendo EAD, PlatinumGames, Capcom, Square-Enix, Atlus, CAVE, HAL Laboratory, Retro Studios, Blizzard, Konami, and SEGA.

Ideally the list should include Rockstar Games - Grand Theft Auto 4, Red Dead Redemption, Chinatown Wars. Epic Games has a pretty good collection as well between the two Gears and Shadow Complex, and Infinity has one of the world's most popular series in Modern Warfare (both AAA games, despite complaints).

That said, I still think Bioware has the most impressive resume. They've helped make RPGs more fun and accessible to ordinary gamers; a new generation that feels constrained by traditional RPG mechanics but nonetheless desire a compelling, adult narrative with strong character development.

I have 3 developers that did wonderful this generation.

1.) Rockstar games with GTAIV, Red dead, and china town wars.

2.) Software with the amazing Demon's souls and 3-D dot heroes.

3.) Bioware with both Dragon age and Mass effect series.

Ninty, just because I really love their games. Others would be Neverland, Cing, imageepoch, and Atlus.

Team Ico...and maybe Valve (just because of TF2)

Toss up between BioWare, Relic and Turn 10 for me. I also love what Ironclad did with SOASE and 3D Boy did with World of Goo, but they'd need to release another game to make the list.

I'm sorry, but why list Naughty Dog? They've given us one excellent game this gen and one good one IMO. Even Capcom has more great games this gen than them.

Oh, Nintendo.......SMG2 alone makes you awesome.

Bioware is easily the best developers this gen, not only do they make amazing games, the games also don't take 4+ years to make.

To me Level design is what makes a game and Nintendo is completely untouched in this catagory

Haha weeks ago Nintendo would have been behind ND and BW at least, after Super Mario Galaxy 2's AAAAE it's far ahead... love the power of a perfect score. They deserve it, while some amazing devs like Naughty Dog or Bioware release a couple great games (BW Mass Effect 1/2 and Dragon Age: Origins, ND Uncharted 2, 1 was pretty good too), Nintendo has released Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (which is a higher rated game than anything made by BW and ND except UC2 and ME2, which it ties with on Metacritic), Super Mario Galaxy (higher reviewed than any), Super Mario Galaxy 2 (EVEN HIGHER), Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (a bit lower but AAAE on MC). Those are just there AAAs, they also made New Super Mario Bros. Wii, an excellent AAE title, Sin and Punishment 2, Punch Out!!, Mario Kart Wii, Super Paper Mario, and then just to appeal to everyone they make Wii Sports Resort, which despite getting a bad name around here is a AA title, as many seem to forget. Did I mention that's just the Wii? On the DS, Mario Kart DS, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story/Partners in Time, Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks, New Super Mario Bros., new Pokemon, Animal Crossing: Wild World (another thing, they appeal to everyone), Metroid Prime Hunters, Nintendogs (again, appeal to everyone).... and more God I'm not even gonna finish.

Name any other developer who has even done that much in over two or three full gens.... anyone who says Nintendo is doing badly this gen is an idiot, you can dislike the console but game-wise they're destroying everyone else this gen. Not even Bioware or Blizzard's whole careers can stand up to what Nintendo does in a single gen.
