The Wiimote hasn't even proven to be usefull in ALL GENRES. Which is pathetic and practically contradicts Nintendo's marketing strategy: Offering a "new way to play games."
The Wii hardware is a joke  Words can't describe how deficient the Wii hardware is. No wonder most of 3rd party support would rather concentrate on 360, PS3 and PC.

I think that gets rid of what little credibility (Well there was actually none to begin with) that you had.

Right, because Nintendo is FORCING everyone that buys a Wii to playminigames.
[QUOTE="iunderstand"][QUOTE="tomarlyn"]Agreed, its totally overated as it is and there's superior motion sensing technology out there.
It was only really made for the failing Japanese market to begin with anyway. Its not needed and often leads to worse control than a good, reliable dual-analogue controller that fits every type of game.

You see, when come into a thread and defend an argument like "I just want to put an end to all this naked." it lowers your credibility as well. If you want to hate on the Wii, that's fine but supporting people like this makes you look bad as well.
I don't care if he's Hitler's grandson I agree with what he's saying.
Live with it, its my opinion and I have a Wii to know.
Your statements are not equal to fact therefore making your statements purely opinionated unless there is a reliable source to back up those things you said.
Without any reliable source to back up your statements, those are not facts and not true. Its only true for you and your fantasy. Its not reality. Live with it.
To be honest I don't like the wiimote. When it was announced I thought t might be adecent idea, but as it came along I started to dislike it. What if I don't want to wave the Wiimote around and want to just play games. Correct if me if I'm wrong but you can use a regular pad right? But whats the point in that, then its just a GC with slightly better graphics and less quality games then the 360 and PS3. Its missing some GREAT muliplats because of the wiimote. How would Assassins Creed work on the Wiimote?
However you cannot deny that it is selling alot. However this is because non-gamers can get into it because at first it is pretty fun. All the parents want to buy it because it is a family system. However for us, hardcore gamers there is very little to like. I know at leastfour friends who have or are going to sell the Wii because its lost its initial flare for them.

Try being a little more mature and debate my posts instead of the relentless ''your are teh fail'', doesn't do you any favours. Its system wars, if you don't like it then get out.
Who's crying? Probably anybody playing Lair but ANYWAY. The Wiimote isn't a gimmick. A gimmick is something that is not need but added to try and sell it on. If the Wii didn't have the motion controls.. then its just a 360/Ps3 with less power and more sexiness.
The Wiimote was only needed in the Japanese market not the west, they were falling out of love with traditional hardcore gaming. Not here, thats why very few gamers other than sheep actually like it a great deal this way. Thats why people call it a gimmick here, because nobody asked for it, DA is more reliable and just fine.
And yes your constant tears are quite sad, instead of trying to have a conversation. But your trying now so kudos.
The Wiimote was only needed in the Japanese market? And who cares if nobody asked for it? It's extremely successful in Europe and North America. Seems more like people had to be shown what they really want or it wouldn't be so successful if it were unwanted and unasked for. That applies more to the PS3.
Gamers didn't ask for it (apart from sheep). I don't personally don't care if casuals and their moms are loving it, because they have completely different standards and requirements to begin with. Dual Analogue beats it as a all-round controller.
Tell that to the 10+ million who bought the console? Honestly why do you care? Do you secretly get paid by Microsoft for "defending" their console? Do you honestly think fanboys like yourself change peoples everyday lives? Is being a fanboy worth it? What benefits do you get?

As an all-around controller, Dual-Analogue is better. But there is a lot of things the Wii-controller can do that dual-analogue cannot, and the same cannot be said the other way around.

No.
When you think about it every controller has it's pro's and con's, it's just that the games are built around it.
I mean the traditional controller is great with most console games, but pales in anything that requires pointing and clicking.
The Mouse and Keyboard is greate with pointing and clicking but pales in button pressing.
The Arcade stick is perfect for pressing buttons but pales in 360 degree movement.
And in 360 degree movement is where the Wii comes in, but then the Wii controller lacks in everything.
So when you think about it, every controller is a gimick, they just have had games built around them that fit the controller.
Nintendo always innovates and the others copy. when everyone uses motion technology next gen all the fanboys will stop calling it a gimmick. just like they did with he d-pad, side buttons, rumble and analog sticks etc....dobbywii

On the other hand. If a dev doesn't like the controls, Wii games run on Classic and Gamecube controller, too.

Oh no, I've lost credibility to Dr. Awesomeness, the ultimate shame. You missed the point again. So what if you've played RE4 a long time ago, that has nothing to do with it's control (this thread is about the Wii controller being a gimmick remember?) Metroid Prime 3 may not be better than Halo 3 or Bioshock, but again, that isn't the point of this thread. The game controls extremely well, it isn't a gimmick.

It works well in the quality titles. It seems forced on some of the 3rd party games. It also feels out of place in others. That's why I consider it gimmicky. Not to mention a great deal of the games are designed around the controls and not much else. For instance, Raving Rabbids, Boogie andCooking Mama have no discernable storyline, structure or purpose beyond controller function.P.S. Stop throwing around the word irgnorant like you're the world's smartest. It's a good way to show just the oposite.

PSP has more AAA + AA games, but unfortunately no unique games. Haven't you understood yet, after three years and 50 million sales?
People are tired.
They're tired of "cool" games and "edgy" games, the same way people got tired of gangsta/hiphop movies and bubblegum pop and boyband music back in the 90s. There are a few franchises that survive based on brand name alone like Halo, but by and large, people are just sick of "cool" and "edgy" video games that pander to rebellious teenagers and of pretentious video games that try (and fail) to emulate the emotional resonance and significance of real storytelling with their heavy-handed handling of their topics.
1. Wii offers nothing to gaming other than a cheap, and often inneffective control scheme.
2. The wiimote is used correctly so scarcely, that it cant be considered an improvement (Red Steel)
