Hell no, some of my favorite games of this generation were only in the 8.0 range. One of my favorite PC games (Killing Floor) got rated a 7.5 and I've logged over 300 hours on the game
A classic PC RPG for me was Septerra Core: Legacy Of The Creator. I played that game before I even knew GS rated it. Decided to look it up and it got a 6. something. I was like meh oh well I still love the game. Its amazing.Hell no, some of my favorite games of this generation were only in the 8.0 range. There's a difference between your opinion of quality and someone else's. Trust your own experience with games not 3 letters some popular website posts to persuade you. Quality is subjective.I would rather play an AAA game than AA. I don't understand why people think that quality doesn't matter.

Cows who can't stand that the 360 has a higher rated Library. The multiplat library blows any exclusive library out of the water and that be fact.
I play only the best games in general across all genres. Sometimes they end up being AA too, but they will still have superior gameplay. I think that means I have just have good taste if the games I feel that look amazing, always end up being good, lol (cocky I know, but it's true!)
For example my PS3 collection so far:
Uncharted
Uncharted 2
Killzone 2
Battlefield Bad Company 2
God of War III
Street Fighter IV
Infamous
Grand Theft Auto IV
Dragon Age
Metal Gear Solid 4
Final Fantasy XIII
Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction
Red Dead Redemption and ModNation Racers are on preorder.
Because sometimes the AA > AAA type of game.I would rather play an AAA game than AA. I don't understand why people think that quality doesn't matter.

True that , how pathetic to assume a AAA means it's better then AA.

My sarcasm detector is...saying does not compute.Yes because if a couple of guys decide the game is 8.5 apparently that is not good enough I on the other hand the last 3 years my favorite games apart 1-2 games usually are on the 7,5-8,5only aaa, the rest arent worth my time.

because nothing about quality means you're going to appreciate the $50-$60 you chucked at it
i've played plenty of AAA games this gen that i either didn't get into, had no fun with, or simply thought were overrated
and i doubt i'm alone
I understand people playing AAA games only.I for one look for games that get better reviews because over here we can't rent games,so if I am to buy a game,I need to be quite certain it's gonna be worth it.It sounds stupid and I do miss out on some great gems.
Also, people that only play exclusives is just sad.

My sarcasm detector is...saying does not compute. Here let me help you tune it, there was no sarcasm. I have played to many games to count that were AA that I liked alot better then the hyped up AAA games.:D
Obviously no. but i didn't vote because I won't say that reviews don't matter to me. Obviously, if I try a game and like it, then the review doesn't matter. but unless I try a game at a friend's house (which is only likely for MP games), then I'll see which game to try by the reviews, so they obviously matter. But the rating doesn't really matter for 8.5+, I just consider them all "Extremely positive reviews". 8's are fine, and below 8 i'm simply more cautious about, but wouldn't have a problem playing. I'd probably never buy em thou becausse I wouldn't know yet whether they're any good or not.
I play games that get 7.5+ and tend to buy games that are 8.5+. There are definitely exceptionson either sidethough. I don't let scores dictate my decisions but there are just too many games anymore to play everything decent.
2 out of my 11 games are below 9.0 i dont only play AAA games but i choose my games wisely because i dont get much money.
Another thing to consider for all of you who think you are special for owning 30+ games of all sorts of AAA/AA/A ratings. Sometimes, people just want the best they can afford, and a lot of the times the games that they buy actually tend to be games that feel look incredible and they happen to score AAA. Just a crazy thought.2 out of my 11 games are below 9.0 i dont only play AAA games but i choose my games wisely because i dont get much money.

So you only had a Dreamcast last gen? :PNo because only sony can make true AAAAE game. everything else is just lies.
I use METACRITIC....
And all of the games that rate from 90-100, those are the games I'm going to choose from first....kinda like a football teams "first string".
Then once I exhaust those games, or games from a particular genre, then I look at the 80's....my "second string" if you will.
I barely bother with anything below 75. The lowest scoring game I own is COMMAND AND CONQUER: RED ALERT 3. (75)
I've never been disappointed with first string games...But I have been disappointed with some of the second stringers. This system works for me.
Game rated 90+I chose the third option, 'cause I have no idea what an 'AAA game' is. Care to explain... Anyone?

Thanks for clearing that up.
You could find games in my library rated around 6.0, actually I'd rate them that myself, but sometimes quality is not needed to have fun. I'm usually on par with the consensus on game reviews, but yeah there's a subjective touch to scores because some people value story more than others so you get different results when reviewing it.
To sum it up, I usually only play the top of the iceberg games. I own like 10-15 games / console so you could say that my collection is full of AA / AAA's.
For example; Mirror's edge is a low quality game, but the refreshing innovation kept me going. While I do admit that this game is bad, I had fun with it.
