How many of you guys played super mario galaxy? 1 or 2. I feel like even if you dont really like platformers or nintendo smg is a must play game of the generation.
your thoughts?

Played the first one to completion. Played a bit of the second one. Still need to pick it up. Love them both. :D
Played the first. Great challenging game (to get all 120). Platformers aren't close to my favorite genre unless they are wrapped into a big adventure form like DK64 or Banjo Kazooie. It was just a simple game filled with genious gameplay mechanics that was just always fun. Must play? Yeah, if you like platformers. Must play for those who don't play platformers? Probably, because it's one platforming game that you will probably think is fun.
Still waiting on getting a cheap SMG2.
First one is simply a must play. Second one is game of the generation.

StarCraft II would like a word with you.
I played the first. it was absolutely incredible for sure.
can't play the second as I no longer have a wii :(
they really are must play games.
I played both of them and enjoyed both, but Galaxy 2 is my personal favorite. I was able to play the Galaxy games much better (especially learning how to swim properly) by playing Galaxy 2.
Both great games. Especially number 2.. I remember playing Galaxy before Galaxy 2 came out thinking "this can't get much better", then Nintendo smacked me in the face with Galaxy 2, thus resulting in me questioning everything I believe in life.

lol same here. And I decided to play a bit of SMG2 yesterday and was again thinking "how the hell is Ninty gonna top this game?" Hopefully they can put me in my place again, cause I am really lost as to how they could possibly make a better 3d platformer.
I played both. I have SMG1. It's a great game, but it's not my style. And the second one was not needed. One Galaxy was enough.Rod90
I would agree had it not been for the fact that SMG2 is so much greater than SMG. If they can somehow make another jump that big then I wouldn't mind an SMG3.
Never liked shaking to spin though.2 of the finest games ever to grace a console. I played them both they are virtually flawless.

Great games, but personally im not a huge fan. They took what made 3d platforming different from 2d platforming and tried to remove that. Galaxy 2 is about as close to a 2d platfmormer as a 3d platformer is going to get. But thats the problem I love 3d platformers vastly over 2d.
[QUOTE="Comduter"]That sucks because SMG destroys SM64 I disagree entirely. I could go back to SM64 and play it again forever, I can't really see myself ever going back to SMG. SM64 was pretty much flawless for me, but things like aiming at stars and shaking to spin kind of bothered me in SMG. Felt like Wii-gimmicks were added just because it was on the Wii, not for the benefit of the game.Eh. I don't give a crap about Super Mario Galaxy. I got tired of Mario after SM64.

Lol, SMG could have abused use of the wii controller so much instead they implemented it in a way that wasn't so overwhelming. I thought they made the controls perfect and DEFINITELY not just add as a wii gimmick. The sections where the Wii controller was used for movement was limited.Eh. I don't give a crap about Super Mario Galaxy. I got tired of Mario after SM64.

Genius level design, fantastic music, clean visuals, and tight controls. In the words of Rebecca Black; fun, fun, fun, fun.Am I the only person on Earth who was bored by Mario Galaxy 1 and 2? Don't get me wrong its not a bad game, but I failed to see how it was considered one of the best games of this gen.
