PCs with power aren't that cheap. Let's get that little misnomer out of the way.

That being said, I do play my multiplats on PC, but I did go though a period last-gen where I played on consoles, solely because dropping $2,000 at the time wasn't feasible... However, I built my new PC last year.

I did play on PC for a while but I prefer to games on consol, the games just appeal to me more. I also don't care to play a less polished turd than PC gamers.

Misnomer refers to an inaccurate or misleading name. I don't see how the name "PC" implied cheapness :P

Omg this topic again... surely this is a troll thread because people can't be that thick?!

I choose to game on consoles because I prefer playing games that way. I love the simplicity of consoles. I don't want the hassle that PC gaming can be. And I don't give a damn if they run at an "inferior" resolution/fps compared to some PCs (certainly not all of them)... because they are the same game.

But anyway, if you can't understand this then you're either a blind "hermit" or you're just dumb.

They aren't always the same game, though.

Look at Skyrim with mods like Deadly Dragons, DUEL, Frostfall, and Moonpath to Elsweyr(Featuring new enemies, quests, locales, assets, and even your own airship). And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

That mindset is why PC games have a lower player population. 60 million consoles have been bought. Thats 60 million customers potentially.

KB/M or bust online. I can use keyboard and mouse, but i prefer to sit back and relax and plays games. If PC dev's wants lot more people to buy games online for PC, they will have to cater for the controller player? Best way to do is have have dedicated servers for players who like controller only?

You prefer to sit back and relax that makes you a casual gamer. We don't want the controller jockeys to ruin our gaming experiences when the devs decide to make games that only cater to them and abandon the superior mouse and keyboard.

Then why are you idiots making insecure topics like this crying about why people prefer to play on consoles and not PC?

Contradiction much! Fail topic is fail.

Congratulates you just made yourself and every other PC fanboy in this thread look like confused morons desperate and needy for attention.

"wahhh why you console players no want to play on our shitty Keybaord n mouse 'click, click set ups it's da best?"

then

"we don't want you console guys to ruin our gaming experiences for games that cater to you"

Please STFU and go back to your point and click fest games. We "console gamers" don't give a damn where or how you play your funky point and click mini games and alternate life simulators, so do you PC slobs care so much about what console gamers do?

This is the very definition of a shit post. Everyone was civil and made at least an attempt at logical sense in this thread, why did you have to ruin that?

Also, every PC game is point and click, that is the only way to use mouse. And what mini games, you sound like someone who is new to gaming or knows nothing.

I built a PC that is powerful enough to handle the Oculus Rift, but besides for virtual reality, I prefer playing games on consoles and always will.

I don't understand why it is so hard for some PC gamers to understand that some people simply don't enjoy gaming on a PC and prefer the console experience. It's a preference.

Hell I don't even game with a mouse/kb anymore. I use the Steam controller because I can play them all and a gamepad is much more comfortable, not just to hold but in how you can sit or lay down. It's not perfect but I don't play battlefield or SF4 competitively either nor would I have the time to do so.

Most PC gamers play on consoles too.

I believe hermits are mostly not real PC gamers,I mean if you been around with the PC community long enough, you would know a lot of the games are better off with the console version.

@hybrenated: Because I am working in front of a computer all day with my career. The last thing I want to do when I get home is sit at my desk. If I do it's to play PC exclusive rpgs, space sims or turn based strategy. Any controller game I will buy for my ps4. As I can sit on my gaming recliner or couch and be comfortable.

He's probably talking about this part of your post.

a lot of games are better off with the console version.

It's incredibly rare for the console version of a multiplat to be better. The last notable game that this happened with was Arkham Knight, almost a year ago. More than 99% of multiplats that release are better on PC, hence the "I hope you're not serious." response.

As for the rest of your post:

@lastcoin said:

I'm not even sure what this is supposed to mean. So if you're a console gamer who happens to game on PC occasionally, does that mean you're not a "real" console gamer? Makes no sense.

And sure, plenty of PC gamers play on consoles too. Chances are, if you're invested in the hobby enough to buy/build a gaming PC then it's a hobby that you truly enjoy. Limiting yourself to only one platform doesn't make sense if gaming is that important to you.

Anyone that wants to own their games, have a physical copy, wants the (admittedly reduced as of late) simplicity of a console and to avoid the more than occasional borked PC version.

@ConanTheStoner: The same old argument?Hacking and balance issues?

I recently heard Division was on spotlight for those battles among goddesses, because a developer met cheaters on his live stream and can't do anything on it(Maybe their id were iIiIlllL or something, that's usual.)

I mean most pc gamers would agree that the main reason to quit a multiplayer game is usaslly cheating issues.

And Japanese games too,you don't need to wait to see if they are going to port on PC,especially you don't need to wait. Will Ni-oh port on PC,well I say it's a fair chance, but why should anyone wait?

Oh and Ni-oh come with online features,I don't want to meet those save modded monsters,so I am better off with console version.

Would you consider yourself a PC gamer if you claim there are no cheater issues or lack of love from japanese developers on PC?Hermits would. Here they are digging on why people would play mutli-platform games on console,oh why?

So yes, alot of games are better with console,PC gamers knew that, hermits don't.

Yes, a few games might be better on console due to mp community. But a vast majority of multiplats are probably better played on PC objectively speaking. Same goes for online play.

But this thread is silly, we all know the data. It comes down to personal preference, money/ease-of-use (biggest reasons), and were your friends play.

It depends on the game. A game like Skyrim where you can enhance it to an insane degree with mods I will play that on PC.

For niche games like JRPGs, I will always get those on consoles along with games where the PC port is shit or comes with draconian DRM.

When I want to play online (because f*** online sub fees), PC it is.

Because I can and which pc nerd is going to stop me.

I'll admit it's money reasons but if I saved from June to August I could buy a decent pc but I'm moving to a bigger room and that needs decorating.

Why does it matter what others play on, mind your own business and let others enjoy the things they like.

A very very small amount of MP games (or multiplats in general) this gen are objectively better off played on console. Otherwise, a somewhat smaller population doesn't outweight the loss in fps, gfx, mods, and superior control scheme.

Console gaming is so damn easy. Who wants to dick around with Windows when you just want to game (and you are probably going to be using a console controller anyway)? I generally only game on PC for exclusives, mods, and games that work better with a KB&M.

Because they are satisfied having a lesser experience if it's cheaper. It's like waiting for a movie to hit the dollar theater before seeing it. On PC I can play games like Lol, Total War, Civ, XCOM 2, Pillars of Eternity, CoH, etc. I also would not dream of playing a FPS with a controller. That's gross.

Because I want too, simple as that. I do play games on PC when I want too, but I still prefer consoles in my heart. Plus, owning pretty much the best plasma HDTV on the planet helps hide jaggies and makes older games look good vs LCD trash.

Currently playing F.E.A.R. on PS3 even though its technically the worst version, but right now my 7th 360 is dead, my PC version is handicapped by my Logitech mouse. So I picked it up on PS3. It's fps dips are irritating, but it's better than the game going down into the teens permanently due to Logitech drivers. (its also very blurry). I can't play ME1 anymore due to EA saying I have installed it too many times so the PS3 version has become my main version, thus including 2 and 3 for save transfers now.

Just play games, it really doesn't matter in the end. Play what you want on what you want. I chose to play Rise of the Tomb Raider on PC, I choose to play the ME trilogy on PS3 now, I choose to play Witcher 3 on both (I love the game that much). I have Fallout 4 on PS4 just because I was really into the PS4 when it came out. I don't care about mods, I modded skyrim, in the end some were broken, caused the game to crash and by the time it was all complete I didn't want to play it anymore.

I buy most of my third party single player games for PC. But what is the point of buying PC shooter games for online, if you prefer to use controller? The PC population is lot lower for those type of games.

Starwars Battlefront population on PC is less than 6,000 people. Its was like 35,000 on xbox one last time i looked, at 50,000 on PS4

But Battlefront is terrible. Why play that when you have a game called CS:GO with a daily peak of 500k players ? And I'm only mentioning one of the many shooters.

@unrealgunner: I always hated using the keyboard and mouse for first person games. It makes the camera movement so bizarre and flinchy. It's just so unnatural. Like using a hook for a hand.

Myself for example, when I had integrated graphics I was able to still get better performance out of a console rather than my PC. So when it came to choosing between my Xbox 360 and my PC, I usually chose the 360.

I've since bought a GTX 750 Ti for my first graphics card ever and I can run most games at pretty good fps at low to medium settings.

Most people do have PCs but don't have graphic cards installed to run the newest games at the same fidelity as their PS4 or Xbox One. Having to purchase a very strong power supply for their PC among other things makes people hesitant on figuring out which high end card to get. Consoles are much more plug and play out of the box. I went for the GTX 750 Ti as my starting card so that I wouldn't need a new power supply. The trade off is there's still many games that I won't be able to run at max settings smoothly.

So to sum up what I've wrote above, many people use consoles over PCs for one main reason. Consoles require much less knowledge to set up. All you need to do is run to the store, buy your console and then buy some games for it. PC often involves a person having to open it up to install extra RAM, a graphics card, a sound card, a power supply, or anything else hardware related that puts a lot of people off generally.

I play all my games on PC now but I understand why a lot of people haven't and won't make the transition for some time.

Why do people play non-exclusives on an inferior system. PCs with power are so cheap these days especially with the 1000 series cards have been announced. Why dont you have a PC, if you dont have one yet. Discuss?

Myself for example, when I had integrated graphics I was able to still get better performance out of a console rather than my PC. So when it came to choosing between my Xbox 360 and my PC, I usually chose the 360.

We even have a board on GS that can help people find a good card if they want it... I know you're right, because convenience matters a whole lot to consumers, but it's so easy to do that. For people who took the leap some time ago it is insane to watch people buy consoles because 'it's easier'. I actually have more trouble now doing anything, including installing a game, on a console than on my PC because PC's are used for so many things now that I just kind of know how they work.

Can I plug in a controller at any time? Can I turn it off while it's running a game? Is it on standby now or did it really turn off? How do I see how much space is left on my HDD? How do I control the browser? Could I plug in a keyboard for chat or wouldn't that work? Can I like run a youtube video in the background while playing a game or is that impossible? Are the audiovisual settings set correctly? How do I invite anyone to play this game with me, do I need to do that outside of the game? On PC I know whether it works or not, and what I can do. On consoles that is a mystery that changes every time I have a new console.

@unrealgunner: I always hated using the keyboard and mouse for first person games. It makes the camera movement so bizarre and flinchy. It's just so unnatural. Like using a hook for a hand.

Like I said controller is only good for sports games every type of game has it's best input device

@unrealgunner: A best input as a keyboard for other games? That's just weird. Maybe you might feel comfortable with that but to me, it's harder to use than a controller for all the wrong reasons. Keyboards are clunky, slower, and the mouse sucks at fixing the right camera angle. I couldn't imagine playing Halo or Batman Arkham Knight on a keyboard and mouse. Unless I were playing a strategy game like Command and Conquer or Sims, I'd leave the keyboard and mouse for typing and browsing.

I know they still sell controllers for PC, don't they? I bought a few a couple years ago. I bet those would make any PC game feel playable.

Unification. Everything is tied to PSN unlike PC where you have Steam, Origin, GOG and whatever. Plus I'll take physical disc over digital any day.

I do.

  • I have Batman Arkham Knight for PS4 because the PC version sucks.
  • Dark Souls 3 for PS4 for streaming purposes AND PHYSICAL SOUNDTRACK BABY!
  • Life is Strange for PS4 because I actually don't know why, I just felt like I should play it on there.
  • Final Fantasy X/X-2 Remastered on PS4 cause I skipped the PS3 re-release and I needed an upgrade (this was before the Steam release btw).
  • Dead or Alive 5 Last Round on PS4 cause the Steam version is balls.
  • Mortal Kombat X on PS4 because WB can't support PC gaming.
  • Assassin's Creed 3 & 4 for WiiU because I needed WiiU games to play
  • Call of Duty Black Ops 2 for WiiU because I REALLY needed WiiU games to play
  • Splinter Cell Blacklist on WiiU because it was the cheapest version of the game and actually not terrible.
  • Rayman Legends for WiiU cause it was the Promised version
  • Tekken Tag 2 for WiiU cause of those Exclusive outfits yo.
  • Shovel Knight for WiiU cause Amiibo.

and I've typed more than what I should have so. yeah I hope you get the picture. Nothing wrong with PC gaming, I mean I LOVE it. I even rebuy some of my games for it just because it's just BETTER on there.

But occasionally I just play whatever I feel like on whatever system.

600W PSUs are like 50 bucks(good ones), and they can run 980 GTXs with ease. It doesn't require a powerful PSU anymore like the old days.

@LegatoSkyheart: Arkham Knight was fixed months ago. Solid 60 fps with no hiccups now. Your others I can't contend with, as they are personal preference and I don't disagree with the WB and Dead or Alive ones. PC versions are pretty much crap for those.

I play on PC this gen. I'm maxing everything (so far) but I'm seeing very little difference to the PS4 games I buy (rare) or borrow/get for free on PSN+ (much more common).

The ONLY major difference I see is frame rate. That's really awesome, playing everything at at least 60fps. Everything else? Meh, don't see much difference and never really have.

Even playing early 2000s PC games (thank YOU, Good Old Games!) they look about as ugly as PS2 games.

I never see the "giant gap" that's apparently always there. *shrugs*

Because I think games like league of legends and DoTA are garbage and I'm not gonna have some big piece of shit desktop hooked up to my TV just to play late Xbone ports. Next question.

i just hopped on twitch saw 100 people playing dark souls 3 on PC and not one of them was playing on ps4 explain that to me

Because these 100 people played the game on PC already, so there's no reason to buy the game again on PS4 obviously. Next question.

People who bought a console and don't care about relatively minor improvements that don't really improve their games to them. i.e. the majority of gamers on the planet.

I game on PC: that's my choice. Some game on consoles: That's their choice.

Play only on PlayStation. Its where gaming belongs
