No idea. Microsoft has the most succesful console, however they've shown that dropping all support for a console immediately forces people to next-gen. Sony seems bat**** crazy on their 10 year thing, but I bet they desperately want to be out of the gates first next gen. It's between those two I reckon, the Wii is not going to have a standard console lifecycle.

Then closely followed by Nintendo and Sony will stop a quarter of the lifetime after PS4 launches.

I highly doubt it'll be Nintendo which is smoking 100 dollar bills right now. That just leaves Microsoft and Sony. For those two, I can't really tell.

Well Xbox had a 4 year life so 360 will be done soon followed by Wii ending after. Sony is all about the 10 year life. Which means PS2 and 360 will be dropped at the same time. Xbox 720 will end when the PS3 ends.

MS, because Sony has their whole "10 year life cycle" deal and Nintendo will be printing money with Wii's for a long time, so neither will have a compelling reason to jump ship.

Probably, Nintendo. The Wii's hardware was outdated the day their engineers put it on paper.

i disagree, saleswise i think 360 is doing better.

But in terms of games library, 360 is miles better than anything released since the ps2 (in fact, by the end of this gen, it MIGHT reach ps2's height)

Microsoft will drop support first...

PS3 has a long life ahead(the PS2 lasted/is lasting 9+ years)

Wii, its hard to say, this is the unpridicable one,I mean the wii is a big sucess I dont think they will drop it right away but they might just to support the Wii2(its 50/50 with them)

Don't be so certain. Microsoft only has one prior system, and the main reason that was dropped so soon was because of a dispute with NVIDIA.

It won't be Nintendo considering the sales.

Between Sony and MS, i'd say MS. They DID drop the xbox1 early, and there are signs that the 360 is losing momentum. Sony HAVE said that they want the PS3 to last "10 years" - looking at the PS2, it's probable.

I think either MS or Nintendo. The way I see it, since Nintendo keeps pumping out all sorts of new accessories and upgrades, it's only a matter of time until they just decide to make something new altogether.

It depends on who gets their 8th Generation System out first. All three have had profitable years, so neither system is going anywhere anytime soon.

There is already rumblings of Microsoft releasing their next console by 2010. Sucks though. Maybe they'll stick around and not totally abort the 360, since it is actually making them $$, unlike the original xbox. Either way, I'll buy the new console, and the next one. ......and so forth. We all know that Sony sticks behind their consoles for a long time, so I say they'll be last to release another console.

the 360 makes microsoft a profite and sells far more software than the competition....

XBL is brings in a ton of business as well.
Third Parties are successful on the 360

The 360 is allready at 20 million without having to drop to the $199 price tag that XBOX needed just after the first year....

There have been major differences between the 360 and XBOX.

1st I think this will be a long gen. We won't see any new hardware(because of prices) until like 2012 the earliest...

Anyway

I say more than likely Microsoft....but Sony won't let them get a massive jump though.

In an exclusive contest it is only beating the 360 with MGS 4>NG 2.

But overall everything else sony has had good this year is on 360 and will end up on PC(GTA 4 and such).

If anything the PC is still beating out everybody with all the exclusives.

THe YEAR of the PS3 has been quite overrated this year.....the battle is alot closer then originally made out to be.

Microsoft seems like the best answer here. They have a history of being first out of the gate but last to finish the race, so I would put my my money on them.

Sony will probably commit to the PS3 for a while. I see no reason to upgrade in the next several years. Visuals are outstanding, and new controllers can be easily added without redesigning the entire system. I believe that the 10 year product life is an easily attainable goal, and I'm glad that my purchase will have lasted me so long.

As for Nintendo.... they defy all market trends and even logic in general. I couldn't predict their business plan even if I had a crystal ball!

Microsoft. Sony believes in a 10 year life cycle for some reason, and Nintendo is making too much money with theirs. So the obvious choice is Microsoft. :)
