I think that by itself, it has aged well. Not great, just well. The problem is that ME2 came and was that much better that makes it looks bad in comparison.

'Dumbed down'? Are you kidding me? ME1 was RPG light, ME2 refined it, That being said the first hasn't held up well at all in a variety of ways; the combat is rather poor as far as cover shooters go.

I still like Mass Effect just as much as Mass Effect 2, while Mass Effect 2 improved on things from the first it also failed in other areas, overall I see them as consistent in quality.

Completely disagreed. I replayed it after ME2 and found it to be the vastly better game (in terms of my preference). ME2 might have had better graphics and more refined gameplay... but it dumbed-down WAY too much, and took out a lot of what I loved. Not to mention it added possibly the worst thing ever: planet scanning. I don't know how they can take out the Mako, a legitimate gameplay element, and replace it with a tedium that only accountants could deal with.

IDK about that.. Planet scanning was at least far less tedious then going around in the Mako.. Not to mention you didn't need to scan every planet to get enough resources.

I'd still take it over the second.

Chutebox
Same. At least bring back Mako and reinstall the RPG elements you removed in the 2nd one

Most of the Mako sections were short, and most of them were side-missions anyways.

[QUOTE="millerlight89"] This is why I think DF is a joke. millerlight89

I agree when it comes to PC screens, they simply scale it down in various settings, no way seeing PC games at higher res would look the same as consoles.:P

That and they probably don't know how to force AA. Complete boobs.

I suppose it's because they want to compare the games on somewhat equal footing aka reavealing the differences of the games themselves. Yeah, that's rather...... Booby and makes for great console fan delusions but I think we all have to admit that ME2 was not a good port and we're making it look better through sheer power, tweaks and gfx control panels.

Bottom line: 720p ME2 vs 720p ME2 is almost the same which is one of the reasons why I simply can't agree with the blind love and loyalty people show to Bioware.

I prefer the second in every way, I don't believe they took anything away other than the equivalent of scar tissue. However, I still think Mass Effect is one of the best games this gen.

ME2 offended me lol.

I'm smarter than Bioware's target audience though. Screw ME2, if they want to put me back to gradeschool I'm dropping out and not buying their products anymore.

ME3 is banned until reviews mention something other than dumbing-down (which they all seemed to love, so apparently I'm more intelligent than 99% of reviewers as well)

ME2's presentation was better than ME1, but that is nullified by the simplification of the game.

[partially hyperbole, partially pissed at BW for dumbing down the excellent ME1]

Disagreed. Then again I am not really a graphics junkie so I overlooked the graphics for the most part. ME1's main story and some of the missions/choices were far superior to the one's in ME2 (but ME2 is the better one overall).

Huh? I'm replaying ME1 right now again, and while there's a HUGE difference between it and ME2, ME1's enjoyment is still untarnished.

That was pretty much my (vague) point. DF seem to try and compare the games on equal terms, which is somewhat ignoring the strengths of the PC platform.

Filthybastrd

Only somewhat? That's completely ignoring them. To be truly fair, they should max the game with AA/AF, full graphics + tweaks, and then downscale it to whatever res the console version is running at.

People trying to say ME1 looks better than ME2. Don't kid yourselves. Also, I will just add that GS states it's "Artistic", so it takes the art style more into consideration. ME2 poos over ME1 there.

ME2 definitely looks better than ME1. ME1 still looks good though, and IMO is a vastly superior game.

Why play the PS3 version?

You will lose all your character data and choices you made from the first.

Hakkai007

It really doesn't matter... you can set all the important ones to whatever you want at the beginning of ME2.

The PS3 version will include some sort of prologue. So maybe you can after all.

Not that they matter that much much. It's mostly a choice of which face you're going to watch while hearing the same dialogue :P

Oh, and some Galaxy News!!

Edit: I should state that I think ME2 was a great game. I'm starting to sound like a hater.

Yes. The thing with the transfered choices is a great small touch, but really overblown, and it doesn't make any difference in how things play out.

you get to choose how the events played out in the first game. However it would've been funny if EA/bioware just gave ps3 owners a long flim with them making the choices for them

Mass effect 1 looks fine not as good as ME2 but isnt in no way unplayable as i prefer ME1 by a mile due to its Superior story.
