[QUOTE="mattbbpl"][QUOTE="Thinker_145"][QUOTE="Supafly1"]Actually wether you are obsessed with graphics or not is just a personal taste so anyone can disagree with you.Thinker_145
No it's not a matter of personal opinion. How can it hurt you to get good graphics AND physics.I used to be a PC gamer with similar opinions to yours. However, my tastes changed and graphics are now at the bottom of the list in regards to importance for me.
Now, if I could get the best graphics for free in terms of both money and hassle, then what's the harm? However, that hardware costs extra money (console prices, console game prices) and/or hassle (PC hardware/software).
Whether the bump in technical specs is worth the trade-off is very much a matter of opinion.
I am sorry but xbox 360 costs only $20 more than the wii so that argument is not valid. And i am sure most people have monitors so i hope you get what i mean by that.Actually, I believe it's $30 more for the core/arcade (if I remember correctly), but it's irrelevant as I'm not performing a direct Wii comparison to begin with (it's a bit of an anomoly due to it's unique controller and the fact the Ninty could sell it for a substantially lower amount if they wanted to).
The cost of the hardware in consoles, relatively speaking, coincides with superior technology, better graphics, and increased prices. We're seeing a bit of a skewing of that this generation as Ninty is selling their hardware above cost and the others are selling theirs below cost (The Premium 360 as since moved above cost, the Arcade may be near at-cost now although I'm not sure). I, for one, am glad the PS3 didn't catch on at a $600 price point as it would have set a precident I wouldn't have abided by.
As far as PC is concerned, I was referring to the hassle of the platform rather than the cost. I no longer care to deal with hardware requirements, driver incompatibilities, and patches. I've done it in the past, I enjoyed it at the time, I've since moved on as I no longer (personally) feel that the benefits outway the trouble.
