Actually it's not my problem since I buy games new. ;)

Besides, did you even read what I posted? And you must not know how hard it is for developers to simply break even these days.

theuncharted34

you know we are talking about ea n activation here right ? they are 1 n 2 in the 3rd party game market. breaking even hard for them hahaha plzz. next they gonna be twittering you or telling gamespot we are hurting n struggling here cuz we only made 99 million billion dollar instead of 100 million billion dollars. that matching gold toliet handle will have to wait.

Right, because online passes only apply to EA and Activision. :|

What are you, 12?

surely with that lvl n post count you understand what a topic is right ? don't see anyone else other then ea n activation.

None of them are in any way evil.

Snugenz
agreed. They are corporations that do business without emotional attachment. Many can't fathom the idea. Sony and Nintendo are as well.

EA by a very long way. Activision just takes advantage of brand recognition and the gullible mainstream market, and MS charges for things people are willing to pay for. I'm not sure why either of them would be included in the same discussion as a company that bans a player for expressing legitimate on their forums, which in turn prevents them from playing their legally purchased games. That action alone (not accounting for all of EA's other dealings and shady business, like withdrawing the Porsche license from Turn 10 because they compete with NFS: Shift) brings my greatest ire.

Yeah, I know how you feel. There's no reason Sony could've continued to sell an $840 console for $600.

"dumb" decisions huh? you mean like how you're forced to buy two proprietery memory cards for the Vita if you want two accounts on it? pretty sure that wasn't a "dumb" decision, but rather a money making one

I agree. The only thing I can see said about Sony is that they follow trends and tend to make more incompetent business moves. Which is actually one of the things I like about them. While they are a big company, they have never really been one because of strong business decisions (as far as I've been a fan of their products). Sony has success through selling high quality stuff. It doesn't mean they still aren't an evil company. To me they are respectable.

"It doesn'y really matter what ships at launch. The first five million will buy it, whatever it is even if it didn't have games." - SCEE CEO David Reeves on the PS3.

"too cheap" - Kataragi on the $599 PS3 price point.

Sorry it scares me that people are being taught that companies can't do evil.
Working for a company doesn't exempt people from ethics or their responsibilities. A company consists of people, they make their decisions. If 'business' includes screwing over customers and covering it up, to deny the customer service or quality or serve them lies because it saves money, to repeat the crimes of your competition because it gave them an edge, then business is just another word for evil. If that is the only way to function in 'business' then it loses its purpose as it becomes more efficient in its wrongdoings. Isn't the idea behind economics that people gain in wealth?

What a failure of an economic system, and nobody is seriously looking for a solution.
And what a failure of education, but that's never going to improve either is it.

Can't really say that an organisation that is built around making money is evil for trying to make more money in the cheapest way possible. However out of the 3, from a gamers perspective I would say EA is guilty of doing the most "damage", lets call it, to gaming. Although my experience with Activision games is limited so I can't really say anything negative about them or really Microsoft either. Although GFWL is horrible.

Youre right in that a company isnt evil for wanting to make money, which tbh in that sense the only evil games company is sony for waiting over a week to let everyone know that basically all their details were hacked, especially considering the seriousness of fraud in this day and age

Jesus Christ, people are still using the MS charging for online access argument? I have all systems and Live is well worth the price.

Using this logic, Blizzard is evil for charging for WoW despite significant more sophistication than competitors like the free Guild Wars.

EA. Most of Activision's games are rehashes, but most don't decrease in quality. EA is ruining good developers like Bioware and DICE though.

Not many people in this thread do, none of these Corporations are "evil", they're doing there Job, which is to make money off of consumers in the least cost efficient way. They're doing their jobs, and if you find that "evil", you are basically saying the Basic Goal of a corporation is "evil"

lild1425
I've seen some reasons for that. You're not stuck to WoW subscription as you are to Live. With WoW you know what the money is for, with Live the fee is excessive for the cost of their services. You pay for WoW to play WoW. You have to pay for Live to play online, even if the other features are meaningless. WoW's fees were clear, Live got more expensive during its course. But they wouldn't call Blizzard much better for introducing the paid item store in a subscription game. I'm not saying these are all true, especially the costs of Live compared to the costs of running its services. I think they are the reasons people have to make the distinction and overall I think I'd say they are different too.

Compared to the other three, Sony is in no way THAT evil.

They made some dumb desicions but the most evil?

Hardly.

Nega3

Really? How about one of their dirty tatics???

"Sony paid $400-million for Blu-ray deal with Warner"

What remains a mystery is just how big a push Warner needed to pick sides. Analysts say Sony only prevailed following a heated bidding war against Toshiba, with the reward reaching as much as $400-million (U.S.). Neither side has confirmed the size of any bids or payments.

With billions of dollars in global sales at stake, experts had predicted the Toshiba-Sony battle would go on for years - not unlike the 1980s battle of videotape formats between VHS **** and Betamax (Sony). That war lasted a decade, leaving Sony battered and humiliated.

So how did this epic battle come to such an abrupt end?

The answer lies in part with the bruising Sony experienced with Betamax, which, like Blu-ray, was also the better product on paper.

For more that 20 years, Sony has been "haunted by Betamax" and was fiercely determined not to let history repeat itself, explained Xavier Drèze, a marketing professor at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton business school.

"Sony was much smarter," Prof. Drèze said. "They understood this time they couldn't do it alone. They understood that they needed strategic partnerships with industry players."

Not many people in this thread do, none of these Corporations are "evil", they're doing there Job, which is to make money off of consumers in the least cost efficient way. They're doing their jobs, and if you find that "evil", you are basically saying the Basic Goal of a corporation is "evil"

See this people, DrHousesCane understands. Use your brains people

The basic goal of a company IS evil, if the goal is solely to make money without involving practical wisdom, ethics, or anything humane but greed. I am using my brains. I don't like capitalist wordgames. People tend to believe anything they are taught at school and they are turning into more selfish beings every generation.
