I don't know why everyones complaining about the size of the levels. From what I played in Crysis 2, the levels are still large, they just don't feature tons of filler (running along a beach for 2 minutes staring at nothing but the same trees copy and pasted everywhere).

GeneralShowzer

In Crysis you are thrown into this realistic massive fully interactive environment filled with enemies. I loved sneaking around, cruising with boats, taking different approaches. It wasn't just, shoot from chest high walls and wait for the next cinematic (like Crysis 2 looks like from video's I've seen)

You can still do that in Crysis 2. There's tons of alternative routes, like the sewers, subways, hell, you can even swim half way around the level in the sea beneath Brooklyn Bridge (I think it's that). Seeing a skyscraper collapsed on fire >>>> seeing the same trees OVER AND OVER AGAIN. IMO.

I was comparing Vanilla. :P I still think Crysis 1 is a technical masterpiece, but Crysis 2 still looks amazing. :x Especially the animations. Watch this to see what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NqNBPtkMeQ

[QUOTE="i5750at4Ghz"] Because I've played the game. And its a step forward in almost every way. i5750at4Ghz

I am talking about the graphics aspect and size of the levels. While come all these PC gamers aren't WOWED by it like they were with Crysis 1?

Graphics are incomplete, hard to judge it off the incomplete beta. However the multiplayer demo looks much better than Crysis wars ever did. Size of levels is comparable to the original. PC gamers aren't WOWED because most decided to have a negative attitude toward the game as soon as it got released as a multiplat.

I don't know which game you were playing the size of the levles are NOT comparable to the original. The idea that PC gamers aren't WOWED is because of the negative attitude is completely laugahable, there wasn't nothing to be wowed about unlike in BF3. While come a lot of PC gamers were wowed by Battlefield 3? Show me something in Crysis 2 released so far that matches Battlefield 3's quality.

I just expected Crysis 2 to really push PCs again, with the new linear environments the visual increase should have been huge.

Because PC gamers were looking for a game to justify their $500 graphics card purchase and now they are disappoint.

I was personally super hyped about Crysis 2 even after multiplatform announcement, since I thought at bare minimum, Cryengine 3 on PC had to look like some amount of years went into its development time, and there would be obvious differences on PC, so far I don't see obvious differences, which really sucks considering the 4 years since Crysis 1, and all this development time.

LMAO. We want a game that will blow us away and mesmerizes us like Crysis 1 did with not just it's graphics but it's vast environments. We want a game that raises the bar again. Crysis 1 raised the bar from Far Cry. We expected Crysis 2 to raise the bar from Crysis 1. Judging by what's been released so far it looks like it's a step backwards. Why can't you understand that?

Because I've played the game. And its a step forward in almost every way.

Iv played the game too and I couldnt DISAGREE with you more.

This is what I love about PC gaming. I can actually use my 50" 1080P Plasma and game in 1080P and instead of looking at the blurry 720P crap that consolers see. ;)

I have a good laugh at PC gamers. They set therestandards for graphicsway too high. So if Crysis 2 looks terrible then only about 3 or 4 games in the world look good enough for you to play ??

I have always been a non-believer of DX11. Even though I could play Metro 2033 in DX11 maxed out, I played it in DX9 because I didn't see any real benefit for chugging my PC with slower frame rates. For some reason, I think Crysis 2 will benefit a lot from DX11 but I just don't see it happening. Even if they do, it'll probably look like DX9 with DX11 features.

It's mainly about the standard the original Crysis set, and the expectation of it being another game ahead of it's time graphically.

Crysis 2 looks far better than Crysis 1. Go start up Crysis 1 with everything very high but shaders at medium and see how good the game looks. These are the exact setting being used in the leaked beta. Please I dare you to compare the two.

But Crysis 2 doesn't look terrible... Last time I checked, sequels are suppose to improve on graphics, not downgrade them.

It's rather silly to compare the game to the demo, or broken beta anyways. Folks should just wait till the final product is released.

I don't think Sledgehammer played the Crysis 2 demo PC. it's a significant downgrade. On hardcore settings, it looks like a washed out console port.

At no point have I been given the impression that Crysis 2 has any PC led design decisions. It looks and feels like a console game that has been ported over to PC, which for a game originally designed for PC; is insulting.

Impressions in my blog.

Fair enough. The demo feels slapped on at the last moment anyways. It's like they grabbed the console version and slapped on the controls (missed the start button part), and released it to the public.

Yes, but it will be patched in after launch. Tacked on after launch. I think they did the deal with Nvidia recently, you will probably need a 500$ card for some features that are just not worth it. Like some features in Metro 2033.

I never played Crysis Wars so I can't comment on that comparison. I've put in 1hr, 30mins, into the demo and I still can't come to that conclusion. Will wait for final product but I'm skeptical.

Personally I didn't find the graphics or gameplay all that impressive on crysis. What all the stills never show you is the crazy pop up the game has it's pretty Jarring.

[QUOTE="i5750at4Ghz"][QUOTE="Elann2008"] I don't think Sledgehammer played the Crysis 2 demo PC. it's a significant downgrade. On hardcore settings, it looks like a washed out console port. Elann2008
Compared to crysis wars it looks far better. Not even close.

I never played Crysis Wars so I can't comment on that comparison. I've put in 1hr, 30mins, into the demo and I still can't come to that conclusion. Will wait for final product but I'm skeptical.

Compared to Crysis wars, Crysis 2 MP looks fantastic.

If you like blur, smudge, exaggerated lighting and smaller scale...

The sequel lost the scale and interactivity of the original game.

That's not a proper response, that's just being childish

My taste in visuals is actually being able to see them, not hiding them under exaggerated post processing effects; like a dirty little secret. I'm not surprised they try to hide them under blur, the texture resolution looks like Crysis on medium; while at hardcore settings. Clearly it's a console led design decision, because it helps cover up jaggies and other visuals imperfections; that a good res and quality filters could fix on PC. Now, those same imperfection hiding measures damage the image quality on PC, reducing higher resolution benefits.

I'd take Crysis 1 visuals any day, because it managed to still use blur effects; without destroying the image quality.

This thread has alot of lulz going on in it. I think the most lulz are the screenshots being provided that make crysis 1 and 2 look awful.

4 pages on this? Really?

Its very simple, they cut down on everything including the graphics just for consoles(Looks worst then the first Crysis and the overall quality is less that of the first Crysis.....the multiplayer in C2 is only 1/4th that of Crysis Wars). They have been giving us lame ass excuses like piracy, lack of sales, etc. with no real actual evidence(It sold 3 million). Finally we learn that were not going to get DX11 out of the box which makes pretty much an after thought.

Crysis 2 would have been a hit on PC if they didn't cut it down to console level. It would have sold 4million+ easily. But now its just another console port and another shooter that will be forgotten.

All hail Battlefield 3 and DICE.

Personally I didn't find the graphics or gameplay all that impressive on crysis. What all the stills never show you is the crazy pop up the game has it's pretty Jarring.

You must dislike most games then, everything you just criticised; most games do worse.

I was moderated last time I spoke unflatteringly about Crysis ;) So I won't say anymore except that after playing it I was utterly unimpressed.

That is exactly how I see it. Console gamers don't care, PC gamers are mad. Lose lose for Crytek.
