@MonsieurX: I dont really care, but someone who went with a WiiU really early on should not judge other people for buying consoles on a promising future.

The WiiU did not have much at all in 2013 but everyone broadly knows what nintendo will release in the next few years.

Because Sony is currently at the top solely based on hype, look at how much it sold without any significant games

No, Sony is currently at the top because they didnt screw with their customers last gen. They supported their console right up to the launch of the PS4 and I could name a lot more reasons why the PS4 is selling the most but I believe this "generational transition" reason is one the most important ones.

Edit: In other words its a customer trust that Sony build with their last 3 consoles.

New Super Mario Bros\Luigi Bros,Wonderful 101,Pikmin 3,WWHD and Super Mario 3D World was good enough for me. And it still more than what the PS4 is currently offering in terms of exclusives

@MonsieurX: Because sales are the best way to measure of popularity and Nintendo, Sega and Microsoft fans hate that Sony is the marketleader with playstation.

Sony consoles sold 100m, 155m and 85m while nintendos most succesfull console was 100m and that was on the back of soccer moms and old people while their traditional consoles starting with the NES which sold 65m are in heavy decline.

Take a look into the 18.5 million thread to see all the happy faces of the other fanbases. /s

How about you answer my question now that I answered yours. Are you a day one WiiU owner?

Popularity =\= how good it is

And no I'm not a day one Wii U owner

The Wii is the best example of that.

Anyway is this thread about quality? No, this thread is about the other fanbases and why they cant stand seeing Sony at the top.

When did you buy your WiiU?

I honestly couldn't stand seeing Sony OR Microsoft at top.. Not because I hold some hatred towards the said companies.. But the fact it is setting a standard, a standard I completely disagree with on so many levels.. Let's take the PS4 for example and look at what is wrong with it. A) Your paying for a online service in which is no better than the past service.. In fact I would argue is far worse because all those "arcade" games you bought for your PS3 (that your PS4 should be able to play) can't be played on your PS4.. Wtf is that? This is 2015, this is a feature in hardware that has been around for over a decade that suddenly "disappeared".. B) Neither of these systems are backwards compatible what so ever, for no reason what so ever, outside of RESELLING slightly facelifted games of less gen at just below full retail.. C)Both platforms have done little to differentiate themselves what so ever in producing very similar games and having very similar features.. And finally D) Their entire marketing campaign and focus seems to trying to push graphical fidelity (even when it is WAY behind computer tech) while pushing us the same recycled bullshit all over again.. I snickered at the hyping of Killzone for instance in how it will be "amazing" only to be released as a average mediocre fps..

I wont shit on the games to make a point but I personally disagree, especially if you factor in the whole library.

@sSubZerOo: I agree with you on the locked online and backwards compapility points. But nintendo as a marketleader is not not ideal either. What consequences did we get from the Wii? Cheaper hardware, (Both PS4 and xbone) gimmicks attached (xbone). Then there is the whole region locking and how they drop support too early which MS does too.

I want Sony as a marketleader just from the historical data we have. The PS1 and PS2 were great marketleaders with great variety in games and almost no drawbacks. Sony started to lock online after MS established that practice when they were marketleader and they dropped backwards compapility when they saw rising sales after they dropped it with a revision, again because they needed to do that to compete.

Wouldn't it be a better incentive to NOT lock online while the other one is doing it?

Not when you get free money for it while getting almost no blowback from it.

MS did even get praise from the media and consumers alike for it the whole last gen.

So,ripping off your customers is a good thing as a marketleader?

See I am perfectly fine with cheaper hardware if it means we are going to get great games in return.. Devs all too often now a days are literally releasing graphically great looking games but very shallow dumbed down products overall.. Not to mention the drive for a supposed "cinematic" approach.. Which translates for me to a game with little thought process and real decision making covered over very linear gameplay and little replay value.. Give me Deus Ex Human Revolution ANY DAY OF THE WEEK over something like the recent Killzone. And don't even get me started with the horseshit of pushing for a 30fps instead of 60 fps (or higher) performance by both Microsoft and Sony.

@MonsieurX: No its not, but Sony will hold most likely the status quo and not intodruce any further anti consumer practices which would come natuarilly if MS were the marketleader.

Look at the PS3. Very high end hardware, backwards compapility, new disc format, free online, wifi included (lol) and they were willing to sell it at a ~200$ loss. Almost the same as the PS1 and PS2 if you think about it.

Of course the market rejected that proposal because of the 600$. Im expecting the PS5 to be very similiar to the PS5 and I would be okay with it.

You say recent killzone, but GG have a new IP in the works that from the few details we have could be very unique (Robodinosaurs). I have no problem if developers go for 30 fps, hell Dark souls is one of my favorite games and you know how their games run. I think you look at it too black and white. And nintendo is not famous for starting new ambigious IPs regulary.

Just because I like the way Sony does things, doesnt mean I support the latest Ubisoft or Activision abortion.

BTW Deus Ex Human Revolution is one of my favorite games. I love the cyberpunk setting.

Nope, that was because nintendo made a load of dosh with huge mark ups with the Wii. (I stated that in my last post to sSubZerOo)

Edit: I cant say for sure but I believe they got almost as much money or more money from hardware sales as software sales.

Sony and the other ones dont live in a bubble, their actions and sucess stories influence the other ones.

See here is the thing about last gen when it came to the 360.. Even though the online service cost around $8 a month to use, it gave tangible benefits that Sony and Nintendo did not have.. Furthermore Nintendo is the company of the big three console makers that still PROMOTE direct backwards compatibility.. The 3ds can still play the absolutely massive library of ds games directly from the sd card.. And the Wii-U can still play Wii games.. On top of the huge digital library of N64, NES, sega etc etc games you can get them..

Also I want to know where it is fucking acceptable for literally arcade games that should be fully capable of being ran on the PS4 from the PS3 arcade.. Why the **** are you not able to play something like Castle Crashers from your SONY account onto the PS4? This would be like me buying a new computer tomorrow and not being able to play something like League of Legends.. WHY? IDK because of stuff!

Honestly I would say that really the only companies that seem to care about their user base overall are niche smaller developers.. Or companies like Valve (simply due to the fact they are privately owned and don't have major shareholders breathing down their necks).. Major companies like Sony have deadlines to reach and have expectations to reach by unrealistic expectations set by a board of directors that really don't care about gaming outside of trying to get as much money as possible.. We are seeing this with companies like EA and Ubisoft.. In which the heads really don't have any video game experience, and see a cash cow in which they are trying to cut corners for maximum profitability.. Where we are having ridiculous expectations for games in which they have to sell millions upon millions of copies to even be considered a success.. Money for all the blessings it has done for the industry has also become a curse.. Where instead of trying to continue down certain healthy niche bases (which developers on the past relied on in selling a million or two million copies tops) we are seeing money poured in to the point that those once one million to two million copies are at best breaking even..

No better example of this is in the MMO genre.. Before World of Warcraft.. A very good MMO had a few hundred thousand to possibly a million.. That was seen as a HUGE deal.. With the break out success of WoW we are literally having MMO's being developed with the EXPECTATION, not the HOPE, but the expectation of some how matching WoW's massive success..

im not scared of sony winning, they show a lot of respect to people

microsoft showed me disrespect constantly i had to buy recharge pack and a headset jack for my xb1 controller which cramps my hands

sony is very respectful an gives me things an says u go play games now i never feel disrespected or beaten and even my vita they gave me some decent games for it even tho i hate it

i feel like japanese people are less about money and are more about respect and traditions and its an old japanese thing with samurais and sushi na stuff they just are more respectful nation and not so in ur face an stuff a simpler people imo

Yeah I agree that would be a healthier market which would result in more quality games.

PS2 is the best console of all time because it dominated and had all the games. Why are fanboys so scared of Sony winning with PS4? Sony does not rest on their laurels. They support their consoles for 10+ years every time whether they are winning/losing unlike nintendo/MS who give up on their consoles after 4 years.

When Sony was winning/dominating with the PS1 against the N64, they NEVER gave up. When Sony dominated with the PS2 they NEVER gave up and had the best games.

Like why wouldn't you guys want just one console that has all the games instead of buying 3? You make up excuses like Sony will turn it into a monopoly when Sony has already proven they won't with PS1 and PS2. They didn't jack up prices. They gave us amazing games and lowered prices.

Look at history. Sony always has the best exclusives every single gen.

Sony is the best and you people know it. They actually care about gamers.

They can't win while the pc exists.

B/c a whole generation of tweens have now grown up on the 360 and don't know anything about that generation or don't care.

The 360 came at the threshold of the time when everything changed. We didn't have MLG or the internet or the mature games or any of that stuff....at least not even close to what we even had 8 years ago.

It was a completely different console during a completely different time.

yah but i think those tweens went to ps4 and microsoft saw it all happen they were like omg there going over there now and they fired kinect people and are trying to switch things up but it could be too late ppl alrdy made there purchase and dont wanna buy 2 things

Scared? No. I love the PS2. Sony has become a different company. They seem desperate and create hype which consist of lies and fail to deliver on promises.

All signs of a company who has been backed into a corner.

I would list the lies in the last few years but we all know them and I have grown bored of them. Sony sux.

You're right, it's not like flipping a switch or anything. Kinect being an integral part of the XBox experience, there's no way it will ever be unbundled and all. All these games with The Power of The Cloud seem to be proving so much to the gaming community, too. Oh, and when's that DX12 power that was promised before the thing landed on a shelf?

Clearly, slashing the price by $150 and bundling it with two games all while rushing a non-working Halo game to launch day is the sign of a company with everything under control. You're so right. No wonder you just can't support Sony. I'm setting my watch to your PS3/Gen 7 arguments...

..now.

Kinect was never a promise. Sometimes strategy changes. Saying Killzones MP is 1080p or Driveclub will be a free launch game are all blatant lies. DX12 was never said to be available at launch. I would love for you to link that source.

As far as MCC, sure it was a mess. It was fixed and a entire free game given as DLC to make up for it. That doesn't seem like they intentionally tried to screw anyone.

I'm over the PS3 launch and lies for now. The list is a mile long but the PS4 is soon eclipsing that.

  1. SONY company as a whole is still in the red
  2. Last 5-6 years best selling games have been multiplats and most gamers don't give a **** bout exclusives

SONY supported a console for 10 years because the company lacked innovation and it is a form of milking. They also flopped in the first couple of years with the PS3. In the early years, the only thing bringing in revenue (just looking at video game department) absent of huge costs was the PS2. 10+ years is just as much a compliment as it is an insult when compared to their former years 80s & 90s. The biggest problem is management and the exodus of many senior developers/ engineers to their competitors. SONY once had an opportunity to buy Apple and passed over it. They also failed in other areas because of a lack of innovation and are always last to the punch, for example smartphones. This is the underlying reason for this overused gimmick:

SONY has had a habit of being late for over 20 years.

I like SONY, but the current management is a joke and morals are backwards especially when you pay some Harvard American employee 3 times more than the CEO of the company, his boss. Just shows some insight on how the company is run behind closed doors and that IS an embarrassment. Next was the recent downtime of their servers well connect the dots. Its no secret many talented engineers are leaving SONY and are being replaced with new blood who have a different mindset clearly. They follow not lead, cronyism at it's finest.

Kinect was never a promise? At first they weren't gonna let you unplug it. Phil Harrison said it was an integral part of the system like a controller and would never be sold without it. Looking back now I bet they wish they had ditched kinect in favor of better specs so they could have kept the multiplat advantage.

Kinect being removed was a strategy change for the console to move forward. Much different from a blatant lie. You better learn that, boy.

I thought the PS2 was kinda overrated as a console... Kind of getting that same vibe with PS4. Alot of the sales are just hype.

IMO anyway.

I am not scared of Sony "Winning" But so far all they offer on the PS4 are average-to-good exclusives, and 3rd party games that tend to run pretty bad.

What I am scared of are the drows of people not being critical with thier gaming systems, pretending that everything is well and good, and not constantly wanting the platform to be better.

What does the PS4 have now that is better tehn anywhere else? The X1 is near identical, and if you cared about those relatively small diffrences in how games look, you would have gone with a PC instead.

So the way I see it, the PS4 is selling well atm, due to mass hype and nothing to show for it. I keep saying that that will change, that games worth playing on the system will come, but man that is a lackluster lineup atm, you know it is bad when the Wii U has a better lineup then the PS4. Heck th X1 has a better lineup atm, and I would consider that a miracle.

So No, I am not scared of Sony Being on top, as long as they prove the reason for it. I am scared of a console being on top, while having NeXT to nothing on it.

But this seems to be a Gen where Consoles in general is set to be somewhat of a letdown. Atleast compared to the prior Gen. Well as long as I get my Persona 5, people can say or do what they want about the consoles.
