You hate steam but PSN and XBox live which is more restrictive is ok???
+1Because on PC there are multiple sources to buy and install games. PC gaming doesn't need Steam or GoG or Origin. It'll continue when those three eventually are replaced by something better.
With consoles you have one choice only and it's whatever MS/Sony dictates. Buying a console that doesn't support used games locks yourself into whatever they decide for your console and your games. PC is too open to allow that form of control.
they would sell and trade games if they could they just act as if they don't due to damage control. Pc gaming is a lot like North Korea you cant say anything bad about it. It is the best at everything or it makes them feel bad for spending 1200$ on there rigs just to upgrade it the next year.

Great to see you have graced us with your presence so you can spew your nonsense.
I have over 600 games and i do not want to sell a single one of them, over 2 3rds i bought for 50-85% off and i will still be able to play them once this next gen of consoles have come and gone.
Selling my games so i can get a few pennies back to buy more overpriced games is not something us PC gamers have to do or want to do.
Try harder..
The issue console gamers have with used games has little to nothing to do with the games themselves. The issue is with game prices. On PC, games launch at a certain price (similar to consoles), but then very quickly drop. I mean, if I wanted I could go to a store right now and buy a ton of World of Warcraft games and expansions for like $10. The same is true of many PC games whether or not they are massive hits. And as you've mentioned, steam is another way for people to quickly and conveniently get games, often at a small fraction of the original launch price.
Console gamers don't have this. If we don't want to pay $50 - $60 for most games, we have to buy used. Only a small handful of games actually get discounted and often those are the big budget mega-titles. The "greatest hits". Meanwhile, I wanted to buy my son Mario Party 9 for his birthday - a "last gen" title that is a year old? Two? I couldn't find it used anywhere and the game STILL sells for the full $50 retail price. That's ridiculous! In the past, console gamers could at least rent games, but with the death of rental chains, that option is no longer available to many people. Meanwhile, good luck finding critically acclaimed "niche" games that don't sell in high numbers anywhere.
At that doesn't even address the issue of piracy, how rampant it is on PC compared to consoles.
So in short, PC gamers aren't angry about lack of used games because they have a whole crapload of options avaiable to allow them to get games cheaply without waiting 2 or 3 years. Console gamers don't have that. The console industry has always been very protective of their pricing and used games has typically been the only market for people looking for cheaper prices.
Because life is too short and there are far more important things to worry about than reselling a game and besides they are cheap, largely thanks to Steam which most of us absolutely hated when it released, though it was a broken piece of crap back then.
I don't even resell hardware, I usually give it away to relatives and non gaming friends for free upgrades.
The reason used games are great is because they provide gamers with easier access to gaming. If you can't find something brand new at a store then perhaps you can find a used one from Craigslist, or Ebay, or borrow one from a friend or neighbor, or rent one from Redbox.Â
Digital took the idea of easier access to games, and then multiplied it by 10. I have access to a few thousand games at the click of a button, I can find so many for absurdly cheap prices, and I get the peace of mind of knowing that I can never lose, or break one of my games, or forget it at home if I go on vacation. My digital library is with me anywhere in the world.
Â
Hitman was on sale for $5 the other week... in several places ts $12 right now.. PC games are cheaper when you buy them on sale. They never go that low on consoles shortly after release.Rattlesnake_8
Yeah i just bought all BF3 dlc inculding BF4 beta access for £9.75 and NFS: The Run for £3.50 i would not be bothered trying to get money back on something so cheap.
Why I don't care about used on PC is because I pay very little for my games... Even new ones are $10-$30 cheaper then console games.
Plus there is always sales all the time.
Console prices stay high longer and go down in price slower.
Plus everything is now online too... So that rare title is no longer rare.

Â
People are willing to sacrifice some of the advantages if the price is right. Â
PC and Mobile are two examples of this formula done right.
Â
Consoles so far are trying to bring over a similar system, but with none of the advantages. Â So they look terrible in comparison to what consumers already have.

Who cares if they stop making them? you think you won't be able to get them? I still have mine and if I need a replacement they'll be easy to get. I can still get Atari 2600s and NESes, which were produced in much smaller quantities than 360s and ps3s.Sali217newer systems die faster than those old ones too much brains

1. Â As said countless times, PC games can be had so cheap (over time) that you aren't getting stiffed like on console if you are patient.
2. Â PC games unlike console games have a lot more replay value than console games. Â This is where the magic of mods really takes off. Â There are many games where mods have extended their life so no reason to turn in a game because you are bored with it. Â
3. Â Another mod line of thought is that if you don't like a game you can usually mod it to fix it. Â You don't have to give up on the whole thing and sell it back.
4. Â Finally PC games (that aren't multiplats) are just better quality and therefore there is no reason to sell it back. :P

The 2600 and the NES have no moving parts. Anything with moving parts has a limited life span. Those Atari and NES consoles may well last until the metal bits corrode (which largely depends on humidity levels. If you live in a desert they may well last forever).
But as a PC Gamer, I don't mind not being able to resell my games simply because they don't take up physical space. I'm not worried about the value of them: hell I've spent far more than $60 on stupid shit that didn't last anywhere near as long as a game. Besides, it's rare I spend $60 on a game these days...Steam is pretty quick to have recently-released games up for a daily sale or something, and even if not they drop in price much faster than their console counterparts.
Â
On pc games are cheap because of the open market. When games are under 10 bucks and mods are free then used games become a non-factor. On console there is NO open market. So there is no reason for closed platforms to lower price. Often the digital and physcal copy cost the same price on console. There are no mods and the DLC is over priced on console.
I hated steam at first but you know what steam sales changed my whole mindset. Add to the fact that hard copies came with nasty drm/trojans/spyware and took up space. On console when I download a game it take what seems like forever to down load a 5+ gig game. Then I have to wait even more while it installs. Then I wait for updates many times before I can play my damn game. Now if I can get the right price and they make it much faster then I might be tempted to give up my hard copy on console.
I don't see that going down and that is the reason used games are so popular on console. I can get a 60 buck game for 40 and sometimes even 20. So unless it is a megaton why pay 60??
This is what companies don't understand, it is not that we don't want new games the price is FUBAR. I buy four new games and I am out 250 beans on console. That adds up real fast to thousands a year. On pc I get 7 games for 20 bucks. You do the math with the money I save I can get top notch hardware vs gaming on console. So no I don't cry about used games on pc because the price is right. What would be the point of buying used games on pc not like I would save money. So don't lump consoles in with the almighty pc. Oh and I can say enough about how mods change the look/control/missions/ai/fix bugs/add features ect.
If your not gaming on pc then your really not get your monies worth.
The prices became so competitive during sales that it became a waste of time looking around used game stores for good deals when in a couple of minutes you can check the complete catalogue of deals from you computer. Hell I don't think I can find a store with used games anymore where I live.
I'm going to agree with everyone else here, between the steam sales, gog, and the various "pay what you want" charities, you can have a library of games for the price of just NHL 13 on ps3/x360.
Honestly, I bought Skyrim on sale for $14.95, and it included the dlc, then I modded the heck out of it (which you cannot do on xbox/ps3), then I got bored of it...so I got more mods and made it a totally different experience...and we are months down the line and I still play it, meanwhile I moved to my new condo 3 weeks ago and have literally not even plugged my xbox or my ps3 in.
Honestly, pirates will be fine no matter what. No used games? They will find a way around, it's only the actual consumer who gets hurt by crazy console DRM.You're asking if pirates should worry about used games?Â
