Because games are so cheap to begin with; even at launch you pick up games for 10 dollars less most times. A lot of competition keeps prices low; ex I just picked up Borderlands 2 on Steam the other day for $13.50. It's 40 dollars everywhere else. You would never see a deal that good on Sony or Microsoft's online store because they have no competition. That's why console players want used games; that's where the deals come from. People claim that Playstation Plus is a great deal becasue you get great games for free or discounted but if you unsubscribe you lose all of your supposed free games. They're already charging you for the service; so it's not technically free.

Even if they did.. so what?
Its basically what caused the PC platform to become so crap, the lack of support.

Yeah, the platform with by far the biggest dev support lacks support...:lol:Once Valve crash 20, 30 years from now, and i doubt they will because the key of a succesful bussiness is to evolve and adapt and Valve aren't idiots, they'll have some sort of backup to allow me to play these games without Steam. Why i know this? It's common sense. Valve are mearly a distribution service, they'll have it on lock.
Lucianu
If for some reason Valve goes under, I'm sure they'll release a patch to make their games playable without the client. Other developers have done the same thing in the past.
id used to have copy protection for Quake 2 and Doom 3. Yet, their first patch for both games were to remove the requirement for the cd to be in the drive.
Another example is my retail copy of STALKER: Call of Pripyat. The CD key activation screen still comes up even though the game did not come with a CD key. I simply pressed Enter and the game was good to go. Â
I doubt Valve would leave us hanging.
I would be very glad, if I could sell my steam games secondhand. But pc gaming has been for the past 10 years like this?
Now console gaming is becoming like this too. Bullsh*t I say. I resold most of my wii, ps3 and 360 games, and maybe 1/5 of my games were used.
I bought XCOM: Enemy Unknown for $12.00 via a Steam sale the other day. Also, Borderlands 2 is on sale for $13.59 at Amazon right now. No anger here.

Well if PC is crap, then what does that make console seeing PC is superior to console?[QUOTE="GD1551"]

The platform with the most developer support is lacking in support?
A fascinating paradox! :o
PC games lose their retail value extremely quickly. This doesnt happen with console games afaik.bonafidetk
pretty much thism you can get new games at steam for $10, but consoles basically still have to pay full retail or at least most of it.
PC Games were Always Cheaper then Console Games, now we have Steam Sales, I can glady Justifying going Digital. Plus If you choose to go with a service like Steam you can go Offline with your games, and I can burn my Games to Disks Or my External Hardrive. Xbox One is giving none of the Benefits that come with PC Gaming just more Consumer Gouging BS.
It's not as big of a problem to be honest. For couple reasons
- a lot of our library is free-to-play
- a lot of games we own we buy in very cheap sales
- there are plenty of games that still can be sold used on PC
Plus there's just less incentive to sell. On consoles it's constant race to new games. PCgamers tend to have longer lasting relationships with games. They often play them for years, enjoy mods etc. The gaes also supported longer with DLCs and big add-on s. All of that limits willingness to sell your games

I approve this message.
I would also like to add that more PC games age better than many console games (with some exceptions of course). Â So rather than sell it you can dust it off fire it up and enjoy it just the same as when you got it. Â Consolites on the other hand can't wait to sell their games because of how little replay and longevity they have. But that's really by design. Â Console makers want you to constantly want and need a new game.
the reason most pc gamers don't care about used games, is because most pc gamers haven't been around long enough to remember them.
Â
valve and their draconian DRM is the reason I switched to consoles this gen. For people that have real life friends, and multiple gamers in the same household DRM is very expensive and limiting. But at the same I understand why DRM on the PC was needed, piracy was rampant and broadband was making the act trivial so it had to happen.
Â
But on consoles, there is barely any piracy and no need for DRM.

there is plenty of piracy on consoles and they have been implementing DRM, and more so with next gen it looks like

Obvious troll is obvious. Â
PC still has games that you can buy used (they just aren't big budget call of duty like ones).
Valve and their draconian DRM that lets you play offline!   How do they sleep at night, letting gamers install the games they bought anywhere they want and as many times as they want??????  You can even make an offline backup if you desire!  For shame!Â

I think consoles have the most restrictive DRM of all by requiring that you can only use the designated hardware. Â

For the next gen consoles, i wonder if they can brick your console, even preventing single player
