I downloaded the Alpha last night. Great action with all the freedom you could ask for. I cant wait to play it again tonight, spending half my day thinking of different tactics and ambushes to try. GOTY for sure.
I got the alpha lite two days ago and that was my first time experiencing Arma,I had seen a ton of amazing videos from the Shack Tac guys of both Arma and DayZ before but playing the game itself so far it was amazing,I have never seen this level of depth on a game like this before,it became a very easy purchase for me.
It won´t,simply because games with this level of depth and complexity are never gonna do well in mainstream media awards,no matter how good it is or how much better than everything else out there it is. But from what I´ve played so far from the alpha the game is incredible.
I'll give it a shot sometime. I'm really getting sick of the "hollywood"-izing of computer games. Like, they're not as engrossing as true pc games and not as emotional as real movies.Â
Mainstrema media will barley even cover the game at all. They'll be too busy talking about x move game, x kinect game, or x corridor shooter to give a damn.
The game will definitely be better than most shooters out there.
Well it´s the early alpha so no wonder,the sad part is that a ton of the so called AAA games still have issues similar or worse than that even after the release,so that´s not saying much.
BF3 was full of that stuff months after it was released.
Even worse,look at the actual GS GOTY Skyrim and it has even worse issues even today,you can still pull off all sorts of game breaking stuff.

Funny, I thought it was in ALPHA. You haven't answered my question about the awful controls Completely subjective. I don't like the stream lined quick throw grenades that's for sure. I hope ACE 3 gets rid of it.

I don't have a problem with Arma 2 controls. They were quite a bit clunky,though still pretty easy to master with a little effort,so far Arma 3 has improved on that department quite a lot.
