Why Choose Consoles Over PC?

@punksterdaddy: Felt that most of what I had said was already mentioned, didn't want to elaborate on points that had already been made.

Didn't start off with 80, but I was part of the beta and during that time it was easier to make friends, very small but like minded group of gamers at the time. These days finding a good friend on these networks is like finding a needle in a haystack.

I still have to open up steam and see if I got a message from you still, pretty sure my steam id is 'xsuicidesn0wmanx' but I haven't used it since the day I installed Beyond Civilization.

Tbh, I don't get the complaints about 'boring games', seems 99% of the time the complaint has more to do with the platform than the game, which is stupid. Every platform has great games and 'boring' games, it isn't the platform that makes the game 'boring'.

Another thing that I just thought of that is a primary reason why I avoid PC, I don't like digital, and a large amount of the popular PC games that get physical releases are also on console. I prefer to actually own the items I buy, Steam doesn't actually give me anything physical that lets me say "this is mine"!

Also, maybe this is an issue for others as well, but my gaming chair is really comfortable, but it isn't acceptable for using on my PC, and that chair is poor for gaming, so that plays a factor too.

@KungfuKitten: thanks for the advice. I just need to get over that first price hurdle then cheap games from steam and other vendors will definitely save some money. I'm unemployed so saving money takes awhile which is why I mentioned that the summer is the best time to save money as very few games release then though I may be able to get a decent pool of cash before summer if I budget right and no other costs come up.

Just did some calculations and it seems all is well, high end pc gaming here I come.

I feel the complete opposite. To me the genres console's excel at are bare bones containing barely any real gameplay and overtly casual. I love RTS, MOBA, and MMORPGs. Throw in sims, twitch shooters, arpgs, and turn based games and I'm giddy.

Meanwhile the only games I'd want from consoles are comming to PC, such as Tomb Raider, Street Fighter, Quantum Break, Dark Souls, GTA, MGS, etc. The number of good exclusives consoles have this gen can be counted on one hand. And on top of this, the games are almost always much better on PC.

I guess it really boils down to your opinions. Especially two things,

A. What exclusive genres you prefer.

B. If low performance and graphical settings bother your. I know for some people 30 fps and below literally causes eye strain and discomfort.

I dont chose to play on PC Because:

• I dont like to play with a mouse and keyboard
• I dont like the garbage that are called games on the PC, let me know when it actually get games like Destiny, ratchet and clank or digimon
• Not a graphics wh****e
• Not into MMOs, indie's and RTS's
• Not into paying $2000+ for something then having to upgrade every other year to look at digital pixels

I've played on consol way before I played on PC.

I prefer the feel on a consol over a PC

Back in the day, games on PC and game on consol were very very very different and so prefer games on consol

I played mainly on PC during Warcarft II, Star Craft and Diablo hayday and had to upgrade it to continue to enjoy newer games so I gave up, on consol you are good to go for the next 4/5 years

Hermits are as delusional as ever, claiming that only PC gamers are core players, dismissing console and handheld gamers as being all casual, and that the hardware you buy is what makes you a certain kind of gamer. I've been gaming as long, or longer than some of the people in this thread claiming to be the Jesus of hardcore gamers because they game on PC, and I prefer handhelds and consoles.

I know PC has more quality games, but even so there are more than enough quality titles on consoles and handheld to keep dedicated gamers busy, depending on the genres they prefer. It all comes down to personal preference, and anyone telling you different is being unconditionally biased and/or trolling.

There used to be strong arguments for choosing a console over a PC. People still try to lean on those arguments as if the shit hasn't completely changed over the past decade. It's funny to see, but they'll figure it out eventually.

Edit: To be clear, I'm not shitting on people who prefer consoles. You like what you like, it's all good. If it gets the job done, then why the **** not?

But it's hard not to lol at the peeps who still think there is even a competition here.

Consoles vs PC is still the same as in the past. Weaboos are going to go gaga over consoles while those who are more open minded game on PC. Consoles for Japan lovers and PCs for everything else. But just like consoles becoming like PC, the lines are blurring as more Japanese games come to PC and PC games come to consoles.

Because my favorite games are all on consoles, and I play games, not hardware.

Good way of putting it... although I'm sure some PC gamers will still be scratching their heads.

Many more Japan games on PC now than on PS4 or Xbox

While pc is better, consoles are just more popular (at least in my area). All my co workers talk about ps4 or Xbox one, no one pc games unless it's WoW or LoL.

Which is sad cause I have a half way decent rig but like I said if I want to play with my friends I gotta hope on the consoles.

I'm PC-only for the past 2-3 years but I miss the "casual" aspect of console gaming.

Hard to explain but I will try.

On my desk I have a PC, I use it for both gaming and work, making it difficult to seperate "relaxing time" from "work time." They are both intermingled.

With console gaming, I had my consoles in their own cozy space, and seperate space for working with a small laptop.

So each place was %100 for work and %100 for play, that allowed me to seperate my "fun" from "work" helping me to relax more.

PC is technically better, there is no argument about that, but the "PC lifestyle" of mixing work and play feels really horrible.

Alot of us in the modern age, use computers for 8-12 hours a day at a job, then come home and do more work/chores/billpay on computer, then play on computer. It's like one is on the computer 24x7, work on computer, socialize on computer, play on computer, watch tv on computer, etc.

By seperating these activities, it's like "Real life comes first, gaming is just a side thing I do."

I find that when I play on consoles, I sometimes skip gaming to do something different for fun that gets me out of the house and more socializing.

I just find console gaming as part of a more healthy lifestyle for me, and I realize this is not universal, it's not "one size fits all," people have different psychology and circumstances and living arrangements, so gaming is flexible to allow mobile gaming, tablet gaming, facebook gaming, console gaming, motion gaming, pc gaming, etc etc.

The nice thing is that %99.9 of good games are multiplatform.

Example : Farming Simulator 2015, they have it on tablets now. And guess what. It plays better on tablet than it does on PC, because they automated alot of things like tractors driving back and forth. They "tabletized it" and it's an overall more fun game to play.

So yes, PC clearly wins the hardware battle, but that in itself won't make you have fun or make your life better.

I have both an X1 and PS4, yet I have no desire to play them. Nothing on either platforms interests me now. I got bored of Forza and I played through Until Dawn so I'm done with that. Speaking of that, I need to get that back from my friend.

All the games I do want to play can be played on PC. My PC is a beast and has no problem running the latest games with all the bells and whistles.

I switched from Console gaming (with which I grew up) to PC gaming and found I got laid a lot less. When I switched back to consoles, I was back to pounding the poon.

I can't stand using a keyboard to play games and pc games still feels like a hassle compared to gaming on my ps4

Because i don't have the money for a good gaming PC......and console exclusive games.

I mean.....look at God of War 3 on PS3.There is no game on PC like GoW3 on PS3.

@punksterdaddy: I just feel more comfortable with consoles. That's about it. I don't mind paying as long as it's something I like and there are too many exclusives I would miss out on if I stopped playing consoles. Nintendo and Sony mainly.

I choose PC as my primary easily, but I do like to game on consoles from time to time, I'm more social with my g/f if I game on a console. So if I want to spend some time with her while also gaming, I play a console.

Also my pc room gets pretty hot, when I cant stand the heat I game on my consoles downstairs next to an open sliding door.

More blockbuster games, ease of operation, controllers, console exclusives. EASY choice to me

Although I don't mind PC gaming, console is def better for me.

Nintendo games?

If Nintendo went onto steam, I would never buy another console again.

Because it's my choice, even though I know the quality and flexibility of the hardware is better on the PC! Gaming is just one of my favorite hobbies, so it's just not "THAT" big of a deal to me! Even though consoles are still behind PC's, the quality of the new systems is still pretty decent.

Don't get me wrong, I was a PC gamer up until the very late 90's, and I miss badly the more PC specific genres like strategy and dungeon crawls. But I'm on a fixed income (disability) and just don't have the patience to mess with building a gaming rig.

I agree with all your points but the 3rd one.

I have a computer and Tv in my bedroom (as most people) and I can use my Pc comfortably from my bed. All it really takes is a hdmi cable hooked to your TV and you're all set, really. I often use either use my wireless keyboard and mouse, or the xbox joypad. It's really as simple as that.

To me the real pros of consoles are/should be their exclusive games, accessibility and the social aspect, that is playing with your friends online or locally, since more people than not won't bother building their own rig.
