[QUOTE="MrSelf-Destruct"][QUOTE="Cranler"]Check back next week or the week after and they'll still be cheaper than Steam. Fallout NV and Dead Space 2 has been $30 on amazon for weeks now. I should know because I've been waiting for the prices to come down on those.
Portal is $35 on amazon and I have the patience to wait 2 freaking days. Then again it doesnt have competitive mp so I'll be buying portal 2 in a few months.
Steam has a 10% off deal on Shadow Harvest taking it down to $36. Amazon has the download version for $28.79. So even when Steam does have a deal they can get beat.
The whole point, is that at any given time you'll find much better prices overall on amazon than steam.

For those games, yes, I concede. Amazon has won. There are still games and deals on Steam that you won't find on Amazon or anywhere else. This still doesn't make Steam overpriced, either. They're selling at list prices. The same list prices that even Amazon shows. Amazon happens to have better deals, but check anywhere else and tell me they aren't going for about the same. And before you say Fallout NV is $20 at GS I already posted that the digital version is $50 just like on Steam. Steam is more expensive. Is that better for you?So what if the download version is $50. It would be stupid to not wait a few days for shipping at that price. Does steam have a shippable version for $20?
I see Amnesia is on sale on steam for $10. Amazon has the downloadable version for$8. Penumbra Collection download on amazon is half the price steam has.
What deals? I've yet to see one pack deal thats worth it for me. Valves killer deals are always for games that have been selling poorly.
Valve loses out on practically every recent game. Valve only wins on 10 year old games like GTA 3. Even then they only win for a couple of days and then the price goes back to normal. Most of the people buy it on impulse and probably dont even finish it. Most of the people who wanted to play GTA 3 have already played it.
This debate is getting very one sided and boring. You cant even give one example of a game thats still in demand that has a better price on Steam.
Steam isn't overpriced. That's the point. The LIST price of the game is more expensive. Steam is selling at list price and is therefore not OVERPRICED like you originally stated. Obviously, if I find a game that is cheaper elsewhere I would do like any one who spends their money wisely and go for the cheaper option as long as its the exact same thing I want.
You miss the main points of going digital. DL for convenience and no need to keep up with a CD. Since the digital and physical form of a game cater to difference preferences they're not the same thing. For someone who wants digital their options would be $50 on GS or $50 on Steam. Also, shipping cost money, too.
What do Amazon's prices matter, really? That simply means they have a better deal on that item. There are other places that have better deals on things than Amazon does. Steam just has a larger library or downloadable games and some really great sales. I never said they had better prices than everyone else.
It doesn't matter if you don't like their deals or the games that are on sale. Its subjective. I like them just fine. And yes, most of their sales are for games that aren't selling too well. Most things only go on sale because they aren't selling at the rate they should be. Do you not know how sales work?
Just because someone has already played a game doesn't mean they wouldn't love to have it in their collection and play it again. I still have SNES games that I played when I was a kid. If you wanted to play Sonic 3 again wouldn't you rather pay .50 for it that 5.00? I know I would. And like I said, the new games may go for cheaper in a few other places, but we're talking about Digital DLs and they're still selling at list price.
I don't care how you feel about the debate. If you are bored with it then you shouldn't have continued it. Why would I need to give you an example of a better deal on Steam? The point is that they are not "way overpriced" as you originally stated.
