Why consoles rule the PC.

u should realize that a good chunk of those PC games in that link are on xbox 360. the point is that a lot of people dont find RTS games and a few of those rpg's like Neverwinter nights convincing enough to upgrade their PC's. People care about Jrpgs, and seriously, 360 has oblivion, it has a better version of ghost recon, PC has the better version of Call of Duty 4 with 64 players but the fact is, that a lot of people dont think they should upgrade to get these features when they can buy a console to play call of duty 4 for instance with 32 players. its not enough.
PC doesnt have as many exclusives in the shooter department as it used to. thats why PC was great back in the day, because u couldnt find those titles anywhere else. Half life 2 was amazing, hell even the original had everything rolling with counterstrike, but it doesnt have that anymore. a $400 console can provide a lot of games to offer and the PC needs the games to appeal to the masses, not just the hardcore. so instead of trying to insult, maybe u should see my side of the argument as I understand yours. I dont take anything away from games like Starcraft, but only a fool would think that consoles arent leading the way CURRENTLY. This could change so before you explode and throw 100 emotions at me, think about what I said.

I also couldnt care less what your favorite geners are...as far as GS says...the PC has far more AA/AAA exclusives then the consoles.

Well apparently per the latest GS On the Spot the reviewer indicated it took 1 hr to install. I havent seen the specs but I have never heard of a game taking an hr to install. Think he tried to install it on a commadore 64 or something to be honest.

Did they install it off of a disc? Or did they download it? It really shouldn't take anywhere near an hour if it came off of a disc.

Price is also exaggurated. Although not as cheap as any one single console, you get what you pay for.

It has more functionality, capability and customization than consoles.

Its online is better, its graphics are better, its controls are better.

It has user generated content unlike anything seen on a console.

An unlimited amount of applications to use both in conjuction with, and outside of, games.

Bottom line: It does far, far more than just play games. And when you do play games on it, it does that better too.

If you want to complain about the price, then go ahead. But as I said before, you get what you pay for.

And before anyone brings it up, I'm aware that it doesn't have some of the franchises you love, and I'm not debating whether its games are better, I'm only talking about the platform itself.

I downloaded 6 demos to play. After some frustration I was able to play only 3. I was having flash backs to other PC titles I have had to patch and fiddle with in the past. I am sure I could get them to work with time and effort but I want to play games not figure out issues that should of never been shipped if they can't run on XP with a simple click.beachbob1

PC Gaming sometimes takes a few minor tweaks here and there, but for the most part, it's worth the extra energy. If it was that bad, people would have stopped PC Gaming a long time ago. There's just too many great titles on PC to miss out, and not enough great titles on consoles to keep me happy, in my opinion.

It's all about the delivery, otherwise it's pointless. If you want to talk about audio, one of the best experiences you can have is with a sweet pair of headphones, and that right there isn't utilized with consoles. I enjoy choosing between headphones or 5.1. Console only gamers? I would say the overwhelming majority use their onboard TV audio...hehe...doesn't matter what's lossless...

I have a HDMI Receiver, i get the lossless audio from my PS3 :|

I prefer my 360 to my PS3, but the PS3 has vastly superior Audio.

well I'm guessing you downloaded them from gs with the download manage which is full of bugs, so its not a problem with pc gaming but with the buggy dl manger.

I dont think consoles rule. I do prefer them often because I can play on my 42" plasma :D But im not going to say they rule. For some games sure, but for others absolutely NOT.

Checked out Blizzard titles lately? World of Warcraft, Warcraft 3, Starcraft 2 on the way.

EA game on the PC? Im talking about a series you might have heard of: Battlefield. The rumor is Battlefield 3 is on the way possibly next summer.

Sure a gaming PC these days will cost you at least 1000 dollars. But the titles (especially in RTS and RPG) can more than compete. Consoles are cheaper so they appeal to folks who arent into PC games.

My conclusion: Price? Consoles win. Games? PC is more diverse so PC wins there. Playing environment? Hard to say, but unless you have a 42" hooked to your PC, I say Console.

Consoles win 2-1 but do not Rule the PC.

I am on windows XP AMD 64 x2 Nvidia 7300 2048 mb 320gb so its not my PC. It's amazing do they even have someone test these games..

well thats like saying why don't my 360 games work on my wii. the 7300 is a buget card and not meant for gaming, no good for anything but old games. if you want games to work you will want x6xx or x8xx anything below the 6 line in cards is not for gaming

what does halo 3 do that unreal doesn't in mp? halos sp is a joke compared to farcry. halo looks like a xbox 1 game, you even read about crysis, its bringing many new features to the fps genre unlike halo3

The only new thing that Crysis was supposed to was have completely destructible environments, physics, A.I. etc,. The first, which to our dismay, was botched to just making a few holes in the walls. Physics were same to everything else, funny how some actually thought physics could be improved more than they already are. As for A.I., lol, it might end up better than Killzone 2's, if we're lucky. Nothing revolutionary to the non-deprived gamer, Console gamers. But the second coming of Allah to PC'rs since they get 2-3 worthwhile games a year, instead of that amount per month. Again, this game is pure advertisement for Windows Vista, nothing more.wok7

Their is no way the bandwidth of lossless audio will work thru optical out, it only works thru HDMI and 5.1 Analog Outputs.

And not only that, but lossless audio has to be on the disk...You can't just magically get lossless audio if it's not on the disk, why else do you think some Blu-ray and HD DVD movies have lossless audio, and some don't...

I didn't bother reading all 6 pages but PC will always beat the console. I usually ahte this argument because my pc sucks right now and I think PCS are WAYYY to expensive to keep up but in the end they do beat consoles. Why?

1 month after I bought my 360 it was already outdated by the newest PC. And with Direct X 10 the 360 is a paperweight. Oh sure I could argue I don't have to spend thousands a year upgrading it. I'll shove that in peoples faces but guess what? A the years go by guess what games I am playing? Games from when the system came out....graphics wise. Meanwhile the PC guys are playing games that are always up to date looking.

So we can laugh all we want but we get a new system every so often and then we slowly end up with the crappy everything all around.

BTW its not true that people spend thousands a year to upgrade. Only weird people do that. Look for a post on that later.

Enlighten me..You guys seriously think you can get lossless audio off a disk that doesn't have lossless audio on it in the first place? You think hardware can just magically create lossless audio? Off all the consoles only PS3 can get lossless audio, and on top of that not every PS3 game has lossless audio, LAIR, Motorstorm, Resistance, Ratchet & DirT are the only PS3 games I know of with lossless audio. But hey, you guys keep pretending in your own little dream world that hardware can turn regular surround sound into lossless surround sound..

You guys have never heard lossless audio in your lives, but you keep insisting you have any idea what your talking about...
