This was an actual good console title (a real one not getting praised simply because of hype). But it failed miserably and will be snuffed out of history forever. Pc indie games that aren't even out of early access sold more.
Why? Sadness.

It succeeded brilliantly in my book of fun.
I agree. Not only was the gameplay solid, The writing and characters ( Andy Serkis worked on it from the start) are way better than Uncharted.
Why you fellows (the console fellows) be praising that and Enslaved? Very odd.
Well let's see. It came out the same year as..
And that's just a fraction of what came out that year..
but gee I wonder why a game from a relatively lesser known dev didn't sell.

But lesser known games on the pc sell millions.

"lessor" known games on the 360/PS3 sold millions as well. But that doesn't mean All lessor known games will sell well.. especially with competition like that.

But almost all of these are on pc with other pc title games.

..so by that logic the PC version should've sold millions.. which would negate the entire point of this thread.
But the most telling comments came from VP of marketing, Carlson Choi, who pegged it all on poor timing. "It launched in the midst of a busy holiday season." He went on to say that while the game "had the quality needed to address gamers," it ultimately came down to "getting into the market at the right time." When it launched on October 5, Enslaved had some tough competition in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Def Jam Rapstar, NBA Jam and NBA 2K11that week alone -- the following weeks would see the launch of several big hitters, including Medal of Honor, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and, of course, Call of Duty: Black Ops.
-VP of marketing at Namco/Bandai.. you know.. the guys that published the game.
..but I guess you know more than he does..
No idea.
It's shame because i am playing through the game on pc right and so far it's a fantastic experience. It's a million times than any of those indie wanks/early access scams on steam.
because it was mediocre garbage. im not surprised pc gamers like it because they never get to experience great hacknslash games anyway lol begger race

Something to be very proud of indeed.
I see PC gaming being dominated by broken, unfinished early access games for the next years. With the success of some of them.
Because Ninja Theory made it :P
Critically it was praised highly and got good reviews everywhere so it didn't fail in that regard,it only failed if the sales projected were much higher than what it sold.
Castlevania LoS being released on the same day probably didn't help it sales-wise. Neither did the premise that it was based on a Chinese story set 500 years ago.
Anyway, I guess it's more of a cult classic game now. I still go back and play it every once in awhile. It really is a great game, with a very good story. The end is a little strange, but it fits the story.
I've recently bought this game for very cheap and I'm looking forward to playing it.
Steam sale ? :-)
Nah, it was one of those Xbox weekly deals, I think I've gotten it for like 4 or 5 euros. I've always wanted to play this game ever since it came out, so that was a godsend. I wanted a game of this kind since 7th gen was rather poor in games featuring platforming sequences and without excessive amount of violence. God, I just thought how I frigging miss Kameo (even if it actually WAS brutal in a cartoony kind of way).
Ninja Theory is formerly Argonaut Games, which is a legendary British developer. Do you know they co-created Star Fox (and Stunt Race FX) for the SNES? Respect them! They've also created Alien: Resurrection for PS1 - which is to me one of the best survival horrors ever as well as one of the best FPS games for the PS1 and one of the best looking PS1 games as well.
Holy shit, not a necro-thread?
Anyhow, the game was a mix of good and bad, bad and unremarkable on the gameplay, but the story, the story was pretty darn good.
The game was average at best. Nothing of it especially stood out for me. It was worth the $15 I spent on it, but the game is forgettable. I feel like those that didn't played it didn't missed on anything.

I know what you mean.
And yeah, I miss Kameo too. Real shame it didn't get a sequel.
I see people always complaining about Rare doing Kinect games, but nobody bought their non-Kinect Xbox games ...
It was a meh game honestly...
I enjoyed my time with it but thats it. Not worthy of full price. Not even close
Because it wasn't Heavenly Sword 2.
Heavenly Sword was garbage.
You never played it. Start petitioning... beggar.

because they dont praise good games, they praise exclusives
I found it extremely boring.
Know what game I did like however? That Bionic Commando reboot. For some reason Enslaved reminded me of it, probably due to the setting.

Agreed 100%. Asseto Corsa good though. Not all steam early access poop.
99.99%

apart from the combat, everything was superb. Dunno why this unispired idiot is calling it a 'failure'.
Sales. Enslaved failed because Cows wouldn't forgive them for not being PS exclusive, and Lems didn't want sloppy PS seconds. DMC failed because Cows found their irrational hate suddenly justified.
This is why Blink (in addition to being awful) and in the future Sunset Overdrive and possibly Destiny will likely fail. Console gamers hate blood traitors.
