Meh, The game didn't get better or worse later on for me, staye pretty much consistant.

I mainly don't like Gran Pulse because they'res no purpose to going there other thank racking up game time before the game finally gets started again (Ch12), ... only to end immediately after.
I didnt like how pointless some of the playable charcters were - there was very little that went on within the party and most of the more intriguing parts of the narrative happened behind the scenes. Whoever made the decision to hide the license board is an idiot, it really opposed the fun and the ability to plan out your party/unit through a certain 'path' on the grid.
Regardless of those, it was still good and a worthy and arguably the boldest entry to the franchise. It has a seamless combat system and a fair deal of exploration and sense of adventure that compliments it - giving the world a little levitiation.
I personally love Ivalines approach to a fantastical middle age europe. The 'familiarity' just fleshes out and gives this sense of scale and connection to its lorespace that's shared with other games.
neither did I... and seriously GP was just an area to make the game longer...the plot told in GP is minimal, even the trip was pointless since they didnt found anything at oerba...seriously FF13 is such a big disgrace to the sagaI never did find a Chocobo ...

It was clunky, had the worst story to date, the worst characters and the side quests although addictive were not actually that fun. I still enjoyed it but it was by far the weakest. I dont know how you can say X was hated, thats one of the more popular games in the series. 13 was just hated because the people didnt play far enough to get to the good bits, hell i almost didnt.firebolt53

umm.. i beat FF13, that game was just plain bad. LOL

speaking of ff12, I still have the metal collectors edition metal box still in its original foil never opened or anything, for th ps2. Put off playing it and just never got around to it. Forgot i even had it.
I understand why people might not have like FF13, FFX, etc, but I dont understand how they can hate FF12.
Does it have towns- got it
Open World- got It
Tons of side quests- got it
A load of dungeons- got it
So why is it that there are many FF fans that were not pleased with this game? It had all of the things that they wanted (non linear, exploration, innovative gameplay). How could this game be possibly be hated on?

It made Final Fantasy X look well written. Vaan actually made me warm up to Tidus - Tidus made me warm up to Squall - And Squall is still a giant knobend.
FFX and FF7 are still the best final fantasies yet.Netret0120

Someone hasnt played VI.
Didnt like 12, because it had forgetable characters, a weak story and the change from the turn based tradition combat system that worked so well for over half the series is a huge mistake and one they continue to make with the newer editions... Stopped caring about FF after X...and tbh X wasnt that enjoyable to me, hated how linear it was and could tell the series was headed towards making it apeal more to the casual gamer. Bravely default is about the closest thing there is to a true FF exprerience in recent years.
