does not seem very fair to deny ps3 guys their #1 cover mechanic game of the entire gen just because it seems silly to measure the benchmark against the mass market consumer good based on the benchmark.

The error in your reasoning is assuming that system wars revolves around generations. This isn't the case.

System wars is a place where people can go to debate the merits of various gaming platforms that are available today. This would include past generation home consoles, handhelds, phones, PCs and any other device that can play games.

If a person wanted to argue that the N64 is a better gaming platform than the PS3 they would certainly be entitled to do so. If someone wanted to argue that the best gaming experiences can be had on the 3DS then so be it.

This forum isn't defined by arbitrary standards that butthurt fanboys of a particular platform come up with. Its a place to debate which platforms available today offer the best experience. Period.

System wars has always been about console generations. I do not mean GS system wars, but actual system wars. It is a war between console generations, PC has nothing to do with it.

A PC does not have any gens. There is no point where a PC gen starts and ends, nor is it comparable to the consoles at all. The whole point is that the playing field is equal to each party, and that games define the winner of each gen (also sales by some definitions)

So why do PC owners feel the need to take part in something:

1) They cannot enter

2) They cannot win

3) They cannot lose.

PC should be banned from SW's. Technically it already is, it has no place in it. No 'gen' has ever included PC, nor has any gen of system wars. System wars is defined by consoles.

Think about it this way...if PC doesn't count, 360 would have a lot more exclusives with all those 360/PC games, and we all know a game on 2 systems isn't exclusive, so...

Consoles are nothing more than gaming computers with limited user interfaces and non-modular hardware.

It's a way to play games, but it will never make a good comparison next to any console as it's not a console itself.

It's called System Wars and this is the first gen, where consoles have been utterly humbled. Power differences aside, every other gen has had each console feauture a healthy variety of exclusives and their own flavour, in design.

This gen, the Wii is severely underpowered and the "HD Twins" are pale imitations of the PC, with a couple of gimmicks attached.

The word PC = Personal Computer

There is no product called "PC"

Personal computers run programs, some of those programs are games, some of those games are available on "gaming systems" commonly referred to as "consoles."

Buying a car and driving it is not the same hobby as building a car in your garage.

On consoles the focus is on "driving" the games.

On PC's the focus is on the hardware and how fast it goes, the games are like a tech demo to show off what the hardware can do.

All of gaming began on PC's as a way to show off what the hardware can do.

Over time it evolved to where the games themselves became as important as the hardware.

That's where gaming split off into consoles.

So people didn't have to care about the hardware, they only cared about the games and gameplay.

Over time consoles became so advanced that now they rivaled PC's.

People switched and switched back, unsure of what to use, and forums like this one popped up to serve their needs to argue all day and night.

I think a few of these console fanboys are confused. They think think the whole point of system wars is to argue which company is winning the generation. But that would be pointless and boring. --> Nintendo wins; we can all go home now.

In fact, the whole point of system wars is simply to discuss which of the available gaming platforms offers the best experience.

Think of it this way: if someone today wants to get into gaming and they are trying to decide which gaming platform to spend their money on they have many choices. This forum is a place where we discuss the strengths and weaknesses of those various choices.

Yes and MAC user do the same... I think the better reason why they count as together is because it's compatible.

Macs and PCs are pratically the same thing the only major difference is that Macs use a different OS, you only limited to what Apple allows for you to put in a Mac, Macs miss out on most PC Games since DirectX is used for most and is a Windows PC exclusive.
