Well your saying, PC is only worth playing for graphics... which is not true... unless your saying something else?

PRICE. Well, what can one expect from system wars.

Oh so, your not going to answer? Can you explain the red part?

"NO. good lord... apparently it's blasphemy if I want a high quality rig. If you go into pc gaming, you might as well go all out, or stick with consoles."

I'd say it's becuase of accessability and exposure.

PCs have a learning curve and noone is throwing money at promoting the gaming side of the platform.

I prefer consoles for a few reasons.

1) Plug and Play: I go to the store, purchase my console, go home and plug it into my television or computer monitor, run an initial setup and log in or create an account for either Xbox Live, Playstation Network or whatever the Wii uses and bam I'm done and ready to go. Sure you could just purchase a computer from Dell or something that is pre-built but you are better off building your own, to which you have to wait for your parts to arrive, assemble the computer, install an operating system, making sure all the parts are working and then you are done. When it comes to playing the games with my console I just put in the game, and possibly instal an update that takes under three minutes to instal and then I'm ready to play (unless a mandatory install is required on the Playstation 3). With a computer I have to wait for my game to either download and then install or just install it from the start if I purchased a physical copy of it from the store. Now if I can just install it from the start I can have it installed between 10 and 20 minutes depending on how big the game is, if I download it, it could take hours for it to download and then I still have to wait for it to install.

2) Rental/Sharing/Buying Used: With a console I can rent, borrow and lend games from/to my friends and purchase used games, I for the most part cannot do that with a computer, whatever I own I cannot share, trade, or sell.

3) Ease of Use: With a console there are very vew errors to recieve or problems to be had (unless its the three red lights of death) but even with that your console is out of service for a few weeks and then you get it back fixed for free and refunded a month of Xbox Live for your trouble. On top of this all your games will still work and operate just fine. With a computer you can get viruses, compatibility errors, general errors, installation errors etc. Your system can get messed up even if you are careful and are great at avoiding viruses and games can now fail to work, crash, or require re-installs or your operating system to be re-installed.

These are just a few that I feel like typing out right now, and trust me I know how to build a computer, how to install a patch, use Steam and what not but no matter how many times I've tried I cannot get into computer gaming.

You know, when I said "PC is only as expensive as you make it out to be"... and you'd agreed, then we wouldn't be having this argument.

display is obviously a kind of a double edged sword as you can play the same card against consoles as you have so expertly done. But things like case, OS, Input device and DVD are included with a console purchase.

What's "constantly"... I haven't upgraded in a "while".

Alright? He is using it right now? What if he upgraded only the PC and nothing else, what would change?

He can't use the HDTV as a monitor?

I only have 1 HDTV at home, and it's mainly use for family to watch TV... does that mean I need to buy another HDTV in order to play when I want?

Bebi_vegeta

this is one of those conversations, that if they took place in real life, would result in a punch to the face. This is just too much, even for system wars. You seriously need to chill out.

Yeah... PC IZ DA EXPENSAVEEEE!!!

You know, when I said "PC is only as expensive as you make it out to be"... and you'd agreed, then we wouldn't be having this argument.

fine. I want a high quality pc, but it's only as expensive as you need it to be.

However, if it's your first build, it most certainly is more expensive than the consoles. Among other things that I said in my first post.

[QUOTE="theuncharted34"]

let me get this straight. You want me to take the family monitor away, (which I'm not allowed to do,) take it upstairs, and use it for my build? Why would anyone need more than one monitor or tv you say? pretty sure you're just trawlin at this point.

theuncharted34

Simple, if you can't take the monitor then get rid of the family.

:o and you know this from experience? :o

somebody got coal in their stocking :P

That I do! I have two monitors! And one of them I don't even use!!!

Here's what you should do :) Buy yourself a PC like I did for around $600, and then go to a thrift store, and buy yourself a CRT monitor for like $20 :P They can get higher resolutions than LCD's anyways, so it's win/win other than the fact that they are really really heavy :P

And then with your PC you can join in on the Steam sales, all the free games publishers give out all the time, and all that other good stuff :) And you can finally be friends with me (I hate you now because you're not part of my elitist club) :)

Seriously, when I switched to PC gaming I began saving sooooooooooooooooo much money :) Which is good because I'm poor

I use a prebuilt that the whole family has to use.

markinthedark

Hey, I have 1 HDTV for the whole family, I guess I'll need to buy a new one for my console time.

Also, you can use your HDTV for monitor.

display is obviously a kind of a double edged sword as you can play the same card against consoles as you have so expertly done. But things like case, OS, Input device and DVD are included with a console purchase.

On the other hand, those are pretty much one time expenses and we're not having Moves, Kinects, higher game prices and XBL fees thrown at us all the time.

PCs start out expensive and become cheaper over time. Consoles start out fairly cheap, if you already own your expensive HDTV (I suppose everyone does though, I own 2), and suck out your lifeblood from thereon.

Very true.

I guess, we can include them.

But, let's take me for example... if ever I need to upgrade... I already have a case, dvd,K&M,OS. So for me, it's alot less expensive.

That's the big difference with console, you need to buy the compley kit... VS PC, you buy what you need or want.

Define "constantly", as it's kind of open to interpretation.

On that build uncharted, drop down on video card and move up to a phenom iix4. Drop down ram to ddr3 1333 as well.

I never said it wasn't more expansive then a console ( don't say consoles, or I'll think you're combining consoles together).

Like I said, you made it expensive, you chose this option... nobody has a gun to your head, you have the options in front of you. You can't deal the same way with consoles.

PC gaming is so expensive. I bought Mass Effect 1 and 2 with Bad Company 2 today for less than 30 dollars.

But isn't that cpu good enough not to bottleneck the gpu? I kinda wanted to go from that athlon x4 straight to a phenom x6 in a couple years.

That you have to constantly upgrade is a flat out lie. I'm fine with a two and a half year old build, have no problem with any game besides Metro 2033 and Napoleon Total War. My PC is still way beyond console capabilities.
