@foxhound_fox: Did wii u make remote play an important must have feature? Think carefully. I suspect no one will be having a similar set up to the wii u next gen. It's unnecessary. People like it, but it's unnecessary. As it was on the PSP, as it is with PS Vita.

Quite frankly, I blame the Wii. Ever since that thing appeared it has become "uncool" to own a Nintendo console.

That happened with the N64. And during the life of the GC the wannabe gamers, gaming journalists and publishers were busy 'ignoring' Nintendo. The Wii was just a continuation of that but I know what you mean, it didn't help. I'm convinced nothing would have helped that situation anyway.

Yeah, during the N64 and Gamecube days there was your usual trash-talking and belittling. From all sides, really.

But it was only during the Wii days that it became unanimous: Nintendo = casual.

What, and the crap that was said towards the Wii wasn't trash talking? That doesn't excuse the fact that, at it's time, the GameCube was the most "trash talked" system of it's time, more so than the short lived Dreamcast. Crap, it was even bashed for weaker graphics than the PS2, I kid you not (and who I talked to used freaking GTA as an example).

Bottom line:

Nintendo has the best original games to date. Exclusives! Mario, DK, Zelda, etc. Awesome even today. I like all 3 systems. I own all 3. But i lean towards Xbox.

I just got annoyed at replaying pretty much the same games every year

This applies to every console. When people bring up this complaint i want to ask...wait...when was the last time you played a Nintendo game? My friend says this all the time and he hasn't touched a Nintendo since the N64.

Yeah, I feel like the people who make that complaint are just seeing the games come out, but aren't actually playing them. You can't say Mario 64, Mario Galaxy, 3D World and the classic Super Mario style are the same game because they are all far from it. Same can be said about Zelda.

True, Nintendo uses a lot of the same characters, but they are constantly reinventing and/or perfecting the gameplay built around those characters.

It's very necessary, imo. Not for everyone, but it's definitely a feature systems should have going forward. Not everyone has unrestricted access to their TV and may not be able to play their consoles much because of it (or only play at inopportune times). [Remote Play] lets you access your console wherever and whenever so long as you have a decent internet connection. I'd say about half my usage of my PS4 is via remote play and I played through around 80% of InFamous that way.

That being said, I doubt the PS4's remote play feature could be credited to Nintendo as it's a logical progression of their previous implementation. Had they left it off for a generation and brought it back after the Wii U (and with off-tv play being hailed as a reason to buy the Wii U), then sure. Microsoft's implementation is likely a reaction to Sony's as the two work more similarly to each other than either do to Nintendo's.
