Why does Halo 3: ODST get no love again?

It seems like on these forums, whenever someone talks about the ODST, people don't seem to treat it like it's there. While the 360 fans surely a hyped for it, everyone else is pretty much pretending it doesn't exist. So what gives?

Halo 3 is the most played xbox game and one of the highest rated games, and here comes along a sort of expansion (kind of) that's going to bring a new campaign that's rather different from the halo norm, some new multiplayer maps, as well as some other good stuff according to bungie.

I'd understand if that 5 hour number ended up being the full story, but it was debunked- bungie said they it was 5 hours for the one side of gameplay and then we find out that it's going to use a hub and spoke level design (think platformers) for a first person shooter and no one is even caring? What the heck?

And it is a bungie game. This should give us an idea of what they can pull of besides halo as well. Ahh... but they'll have announced their 2010 game by then according to their podcast.

Maybe it's because this game is basically fanservice for the halo 3 fans, and most of you guys only care about is that 9.5

i tink because people are nervous of it being just like halo 3. the game was just halo 2 with some new things but nothing new like. iam2green

Agreed. Every year it seems the game that is hyped most on the 360 is a shooter. Need something new.

BEcause a lot of people, like me, didnt like Halo 3's campaign.

Unless ODST is all Arbiter missions, count me out.

I can see the game getting a 8.5, and then fanboys getting excited that a Halo game flopped, not really realizing that even Bungie themselves said that it's not going to be a full game, but more of an expansion.Legendaryscmt

I've been experimenting with reviewers telling us how long games should take us, and each and every one that I've done so far has come up shorter than what they've said. If I remember correctly, Bungie said that ODST should be about 3-4 hours long, which knowing the average gamer now, will only actually take around 2ish hours. Even if it's longer than what I've said, I'm not expecting this game to take over 4 hours at the latest. Besides, this is gamespot, and some highly acclaimed games have flopped. Just because it has the Halo name on it doesn't mean that it's a sure AAA game.

Because they called it an expansion, even though it's pretty much a whole new game (except the single player will be around 5 hours I think).Master-Thief-09

It gets no love because we've not seen so much as a screenshot of the game. How do you expect anyone to have any kind of anticipation for a game they haven't even seen in motion? Especially for a tangential game.Fire-of-Njozi

I can honestly say that I don't care about it, because it just looks like a lame attempt at milkage by bungie and MS at this point. Halo games should involve the master chief, or at least Spartans. It just feels like it's going to be another genereric shooter to me. I could be wrong though. Exeed_Orbit

Because it's just another Halo game. I love Halo: CE, but Halo 2 and 3 are just blah. I'd love to see Bungie do something else OTHER then Halo, it's just the most obvious cash-in, I know they're talented dev's and I wish I could see them do a new IP.angry_fork

Up until recently every one but cows said Killzone 2 was going to be nothing like the E3 Video... We will have to wait until closers to the release of ODST before anyone care to talk about it because we don't know enough/care enough to get hyped about it... W1ckedGo0se

Real fan service would be giving the fans something new. Halo needs to be finished already, it's not that great of a series, it's just good in my opinion.

I know a lot of people like it but Bungie should move on and show their talents on a new IP, I'd really like to see what else they can do, it's like they're a 1 trick clown or something.

I'm really intrigued by ODST, but without any footage, it's difficult to get a sense of exactly how it will be different from Halo 3. That mutes a lot of the hype.

Still, I know that I'm looking forward to it.
