Zelda- Link and zelda are hanging out then zelda is captured by gannendorf (sp?)

generally its the same but just with different twists to cover it up.

It pains me that this is true, but Nintendo does not care about storylines. They sacrifice "story depth" for "casual fun".

Compare Metroid 3 to Mass Effect.

Play both and you'll see how much Nintendo cares about storylines. Worst part is, Metroid 3 is the deepest Nintendo storyline there is.

Mah bubbleshield will protect me. And I didn't agree, I said that it's their gameplay that defines them. Atleast to me it does.

I'm also guessing TC hasn't played most if any Zelda games(and looked at the story thoroughly).

Actually nintendo does care about story lines, TP actually had a well written storyline, masseffects story fails compared to KOTOR.

Each zelda has different characters, but the same ganon, link, zelda becaue of the triforce.

Disagree about Mass Effect. It was an entirely new universe with tons of backstory. You strike me as the type of person who would say that WoW has very little to no storyline. Just because its not shoved down your throat like a sunday morning cartoon doesn't mean its not there.

Its something theyve grown into, it would be weird of they changed it now. Though zelda is a game that genuinely does need an update a mario games has never really been about its story. The sheel that most mario games present is usually good enough.

KOTOR and Mass Effect are both made by Bioware, my point still stands.

If Zelda is Nintendo's best storyline, there is a problem.

you're actually wrong in one little aspect. Link and Zelda are not hanging out and then Ganon comes in and screw it up, that's mario. In zelda games link and zelda are strangers until they meet because of something Ganon is doing

Mario games dont put any emphasis on the story so I couldnt care less about the story in those games. The Zelda games however only use a basic formula for their games. Although even then it's not always the same. Majora's Mask, Minish Cap, Link's Awakening are all examples of Zelda games that had a different story line. And even though some Zelda games use the same formula for the story, they all have a very different setting and development of the story.

Mario is always the same cos it's just an excuse to go platforming. Not about story.

Zelda has tons of different storylines. Link's Awakening, Majora's Mask, Windwaker and even Twilight Princess are all different from the storyline in A Link To The Past and Ocarina of "save Zelda, beat Ganon".

disagree about metroid. Metroid prime has one of the deepest (in terms of how much there is below just the surface of the game) storys in any game. The way the story is presented shows just how much nintendo cares for the story in its games. Still nintendo doesnt want a story to intrude on a game, and they will sacrifice story if they think it intrudes on the player too much.

They aren't, I have different standards. Sorry that you can't accept dissenting points of view. I rented SMG and got to about 80-85 stars before deciding to stop playing. The bosses were extremely easy and there are harder puzzles in Vandal Hearts (which I'm playing right now, OH NOES PUSH TEH BUTTON FOR TEH BRIDGE). There was some degree of fun to be had, but not the ammount of fun worth 50 bucks. It was a great rental, but a horrible purchase.

What about halo, thats microsofts, is that a problem, or maybe be kameo its first party. Stop being a fanoby, nintendo actually has franchises that are story heavy(baten kaitos), fire emblem, golden sun, advance wars, etc.

I agree except its not generally same storyline it is EXACTLY the same storyline over and over and over and over and over again SMG, and Twilight princess we're the only ones that we're a lot more different then the originals then past versions. other then that its really the same Exact storyline over and over.

games don't need storylines to be great

they just need to be entertaining

mario galaxy winning GOTY over mass effect and bioshock is further evidence of this FACT

i actually skip the cut scenes/dialogue of most games (ie. halo 3, the darkness, etc..)...because i find the storylines of 99% of these games to be corny as hell

i find it a nuisance that i have to force-fed these corny storylines

most of the time, all i want to do is PLAY the game - is that too much to ask?

i'm glad nintendo focuses its mario games on gameplay instead of story. i can't imagine how terrible and corny mario games would be if they were to take mario's storyline too seriously.

but apparently these "hardcore"gamers want mario to be in an engaging and epic story

seriously, he's an italian cartoon plumber who jumps high in a world of goombas and turtles....take a look at what you're working with here.....what exactly are you guys expecting out of such a storyline?

Radiant Dawn is just WW2 with different names. 0_o

Congratulations, you picked out the FE game with the worst storyline. Now lets ignore the fact that he said "most" and then lets ignore all the other FE games ever released.

Well that would make the one on the Gamecube WW1 with different names so.... I only ever played the Radiant arc.

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="Marth6781"][QUOTE="Vandalvideo"] Disagree about Mass Effect. It was an entirely new universe with tons of backstory. You strike me as the type of person who would say that WoW has very little to no storyline.Just because its not shoved down your throat like a sunday morning cartoon doesn't mean its not there.Marth6781

Too bad I dont think that.

Then why would you say that about Masss EffecT? WoW and ME are in the same boat. They have brilliant storylines.

I was talking about WoW, im sorry I come off as the type, but I dont think that mass effect's story>KOTOR.

Your generalizations wont work.

KOTOR was based on an established universe that has been fleshed out for god knows how long. ME was entirely new and the sheer ammount of backstory they have in that game makes it great. Try reading the codecs.

[QUOTE="RurouniSaiyajin"]To answer your question, a combination of extreme laziness and the fact that people are going to buy the game by the millions regardless.locopatho

Lol did you just call Nintendo lazy? Their games are the best in the industry. (Ya I know Blizzard, Valve etc. For me it's Nintendo!)

Even if their games are the best in the industry, how does this stop them from being lazy in an area of game development?

I agree except its not generally same storyline it is EXACTLY the same storyline over and over and over and over and over again SMG, and Twilight princess we're the only ones that we're a lot more different then the originals then past versions. other then that its really the same Exact storyline over and over.WilliamRLBaker

Yeah! Remember the parts in Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask in which Link talked to Zelda? If so, could you please point out where, because I must have missed that part.
