Why does the Zelda wii graphics look so bad?

It looks worse then the gamecube zelda

There is much more than technically looking better. Artistic direction can be just as important, and can even make up for the technical limitations.

Looks superb to me.

I think the character models look very good, but the enviroment like the trees in the second picture need some work.

Play games not graphics.

The graphics are going to improve within the remaining time until it's release. They pretty much did everything else.

Miyamoto siad he wants an impressionist art styLe because he prefers that over others. I can understand how u may not be a fan of toony looks, but that doesnt make the game have bad graphics. the game looks great. As for those source engine pics....well we could have something like that considering that with pure numbers the wii surpasses the xbox 1 which also supported the source engine, but the only thing keeping it from producing graphics like that is the wii's inablity to handle complex shaders consistently. Its only capable of doing a few effects without having issues. There a few things it can do very well without any problem at all such as falloff, EMBM, and a few others. Even then without those we could have still had a realistic looking game with better graphics than TP, but it just wouldnt match the tone of the game.

It's very zelda, but then, its the same zelda people have been playing for years, and the backgrounds need a lot of work.

You stated it right there, it's your opinion. I didn't state it would definately make up for it, but considering the jump from Wii SD to PS3/360 HD artistic design can make all the difference.

What were you expecting to see on a console with 2002 specs? I agree about Muramasa looking great but its on 2D... Zelda SS would've been so epic with something like The Last Guardian graphics, but no, its just like another GC game, :( sad.silversix_

Let the mods do their job then. As is stands, I'm not a fake, and I'm not impressed by the graphics either. I don't even think it looks good for a wii game. I expect they will work on it but it certainly wont be the generation defining game people were hoping for.

When did I bash that? If mario stuck to great platformers like galaxy I wouldn't be so bored with him. Don't put words in my mouth.

Honestly? I didn't expect it would define a generation. But people have been building this game up ever since they showed an art poster last year. As ridiculous as that is, people are expecting this game to do something revolutionary, just because its zelda. I didn't think it would break the graphics mark set by HD consoles, of course not. I just expected there would be something new or special about the game. As it stands, if this didn't have the zelda name attached people wouldn't care about it at all right now. The graphics look decidedly average, particularly the backdrops, and the controls didn't work. Now, both of those things will be worked on, but don't get offended by people if they don't find this game impressive, I suspect many people who do are convincing only themselves that it is zelda and ultimately, they wont be let down.

I think it looks gorgeous.

FYI, they have't been working on the visuals at all other than what their shooting for, when they get the game completed their going to be working on the visuals.

I was disappointed as well. I think it should have been Wind Waker style. This new Zelda doesn't know if it wants to be like TP or Wind Waker and in turn Link looks very out of place compared to his surroundings.
