What's the problem?
No one forces you to buy them... but plenty of people want them, and Sony provides the option. Supply and demand...

Yeah, I never understood why people are against backwards compatibility but buy these HD collections. The anti backwards compatibility crowd like to say things like "you don't buy a new console to play old games" or "I buy a new console to play new games" but behold! These same people have no problem re-buying the same games every generation just so they can play it on their console. No logic at all!!!
It's ok because that's not all that Sony does.
Some HD collections are worth it, some are not. Grow up and decide for yourself.
It's interesting though that this argument can be used to excuse Sony, but that cows will not accept it for Nintendo or Microsoft. Not calling you a cow, of course, just using your post to demonstrate a point. What's the problem?

PS3 has so many HD remakes it got its own Wikipedia article
Why don't more people despise this? I'm not just talking about Sony of course, there's plenty of companies doing it and lots of the collections are on the 360, there's plenty of suckage to go around. We were given consoles with limited to no backwards compatibility and ended up with this instead, what a shitty situation. I understand that people didn't play some of the games and it's convinient to have them all in one place but in my eyes this is definitely one pretty big drawback to a lack of backwards compatibility.
Do you hate this? If not, why not? Will this continue next gen? Thoughts...
bobbetybob
People don't hate it because if they don't like/want those games in HD, they won't buy them. Clearly, people are buying and supporting them for whatever reason (maybe they never played the original version, maybe they had it and eventually sold it and want it again, etc) so people keep making them.
Why would anyone despise something that literally has zero affect on them at all, has no real affect on the industry, and that people who want and support it can?

Fanboys will be fanboys, but me personally, I see nothing wrong with having an option to buy a HD collection, no matter who does it. Backwards compatibility like the one in the original PS3s is dead and most likely won't be coming back, so having HD collections for some older classics is a good thing...

Not calling you a cow, of course, just using your post to demonstrate a point. I'm more for HD Collections then making crappy spin-offs or sequels. Nintendo would probably be better off doing more Zelda 3DS enhanced ports like OOT and Wind Waker HD then crappy New Super Mario Bros. games IMO. At least you know you're getting quality games and for alot of people they'll be new. If we are using the demand and supply argument, then the continued sales of the NSMB games (including, yes, the 3DS game too) demonstrates that people do in fact want more NSMB. Of course if you don't want it, you can always ignore it. There are a lot of other games you could instead buy. What's the problem?

Nintendo never does that. Nintendo gives me new games. Thank you Nintendo.
First off, where in the hell did you get six times? GOW I, II and the PSP games have only been released twice. GOW III has only been released once and that was part of a collection. Where in the hell did you get the six times thing from? Even if we count the inital relases on their native systems, GOW I, II, and the PSP games have only been released three times.
Where did you get these numbers?

No they've released 3 God of War collections.
The first two had completely different games, and no smart consumer bought the Saga if they already owned the collections. It's like saying Halo CE has been released 6 times because of Halo 1,2,3,Anniversery, PC and Reach.
What? No its not.
They released 3 collections. What part of that is difficult to understand.

If you dont like it dont buy it. Why does this anoys you so much? Many people missed these classics last gen so these HD remakes are welcomed by them. It literally changes nothing about your life... its just silly
I probably won't buy it. Pretty simple. Its nice to play stuff rerended for higher definition. I'm just curious if people are gonna be happy about it when all of this gen's games get the same treatment next gen.

Well yeah, the solution is simple. I just find that most of these remasters are really lazy. Having them all on 1 disk for people who missed out is good though.
[QUOTE="bowserjr123"]I also don't care for HD collections when you can already buy the games separately for cheaper anyway like Devil May Cry.Cherokee_JackYou mean the PS2 versions? I think the benefits of not having to make space for a PS2, and not having to play PS2 games on an HDTV through composite, are worth a bit more money.
Yeah I was referring to the PS2 ones. I do see the benefits of having all of the games in one disk and better graphics but if I could get them for cheaper and I already have said system to play the games then it doesn't really matter to me.
What's the problem?

Holy **** someone with logic, give this man a cookie. Also to add to that, not everyone still has a PS2 (wish I did) or a PSP.
People will buy it. They buy it because they like it. Don't like it? Don't buy it.
Yeah, the whole "Deal With It" mentality is getting somewhat old but, really, what can you do? Write a sternly strong worded letter to SONY? Just don't buy it, it'll save you all the trouble in the end. Also if you're using this as a way of exposing hypocrisy among cows for them bashing rehashes and whatnot; give it up. Fanboys will be fanboys and System Wars is like the 1% really in the whole wide world of gaming that it doesn't matter if like 10 people here are hypocrites given the, like, 10 million other fans out there.
I don't mind HD collections, but it was a bit fishy when one week Sony announced dropping BC on the PS3, and the next week began announcing HD re-releases.
Sony goes overboard with them far more than any other company it seems.
I don't see the point in them if you can already play the games on said system, such as Super Mario All-Stars for Wii when you can already download the games from the VC. I also don't care for HD collections when you can already buy the games separately for cheaper anyway like Devil May Cry.
The kind of collections I would like to see more of are ones similar to the Mega Man Anniversary Collection, where it is cheaper to buy the collection than the games separately and not have to get all of the systems to play the games.
I also don't care for HD collections when you can already buy the games separately for cheaper anyway like Devil May Cry.bowserjr123You mean the PS2 versions? There's a difference there. Sony doesn't depend on HD Collections as system sellers. Nintendo does, and in a way like it's throwing a bone to fans. No games to play for months? No matter. We'll give you Wind Waker HD. And suddenly, all is forgiven.
That doesn't happen on any other console.
