Why does this get excused?

I appreciate that they exist, but something about pulling the plug on backward compatibility in the middle of the gen and a then few years later (when most people have sold off their PS2s) trying to sell everyone new compatible copies of games they may already own still reeks in my book.

In other words, HD collections good. Sony's way of handling them, a little shady.

There's a difference there. Sony doesn't depend on HD Collections as system sellers. Nintendo does, and in a way like it's throwing a bone to fans. No games to play for months? No matter. We'll give you Wind Waker HD. And suddenly, all is forgiven.

That doesn't happen on any other console.

Also, I guarantee you there will be plenty of other Wii U games coming out in Q4, so the "throwing a bone" thing doesn't really apply.

How bout Okami and Resident Evil 4 for Wii?

I would want HD collections even if there was full BC. To me it's just like buying blu-ray versions of old movies I like, and in some cases, ones I haven't seen yet.

I like HD collections, It allows me to play PS2 games on my PS3 in HD, I dont know how people can spin this as a bad thing? people will say its "milking" but really theyre just trying to find an excuse to bash Sony.

I wish Microsoft and Nintendo did it as much as Sony.  I love HD collections, mainly because I wasn't that into gaming back when the original Xbox/Gamecube was out.  

Its milking at its finest. The most ridiculous case is God of War. Sony does it too much, they need to stop with the HD collections and focus on new IPs (yeah I went there lololol)

PS3 New IP's 2013: The Last Of Us, Beyond Two Souls, Puppetteer, Rain, Until Dawn, plus a load of third party exclusives.

I don't see Nintendo or MS pumping out HD collections or new IP's right now. What did they do in 2013???? Oh nothing, MS and Nintendo Completely lazy assssed it. Lets just give the gamers 2D mario and a Gears Of War Prequal, that will make them love us. FAIL

PS3 has games coming out there ears, Exlcusive IP's and HD collections. FACT.

I really don't see anything wrong with it. If you already own the games then don't buy them because they are not for you! HD collections are for people that either, want to buy the games again because they can play them on 16:9 and HD or for people that never even got to play them in the first place. Now what is the problem with them? I just don't get it....

HD Collections are particularly good for those who missed out.

Didn't play franchises such as Jak & Daxter, MGS, Sly Cooper, and God of War on PS2, so those HD Collections gave me a fantastic opportunity to catch up.

I'm fine with HD collections. They are the same thing as records getting remastered recordings or movies getting restored/remastered. So how are HD releases harming you?

I will always enjoy better versions of my favorites. Just as I bought the Black Sabbath Black Box remastered set, I will rebuy my favorite games such as Final Fantasy X in a HD remaster.

Music and Movies do it, why can't games

ps3 has so many games that dont sell !   have you seen the charts !  i can only pick a hand ful of games of all sonys exclusives that have sold  well , 

not counting sequals  -   

 and these hd collections are milking at its finest at least nintendo gives you 4 or 5 games for the price of one , 

  -like they did w super mario all stars and kirby dream land collection 

but sony ya 3 is it for them and they cost 40-60 bucks a pop l i d rather have full bc over spending money again 

Very useful for picking up some games you missed, and plus it's in HD!

Well at least they are at a budget price, and are good value for money to those who missed out on them last gen. 

The concept of HD collections sounds great on paper, and is generally executed well, but sometimes falls flat (Silent Hill, ZOE, etc.)

But the point of HD collections allows individuals who missed out on series, sometimes with games that are hard to find/expensive to be able to pick them up with some extra perks on one disk. I've picked up the Sly collection because I've heard good stuff about the series (don't own any of the PS2 games). Will pick up the Ico/SOTC collection because I own SOTC but don't own Ico, which sometimes is a pain to find. 

Also, difference between Sony and 3rd parties when it comes to HD collections.
