before anyone says anything selling a mill or two is still pretty damn awesome. but for a system that has 21 mil (at least) why arent the exclusives selling like they should? why dont ps3 owners actually BUY ps3 games?

Maybe it's because when the Ps3 was new it was a cheap Blu-ray? I mainly think it's because of horrible advertising. The only thing that gets recognised on tv these days are wii shovelware. :?
well honestly for me in my neighbooring villages for some reason they dont have launch day games so im SOL or they are all preordered and theres not enough send games to missourriiiiiiiiiiiiiii :(
*Waits for the the inevtable shouts of worldwide sales.*
The fact is they are underperforming. There are lots of reasons why but its apparent SW doen't want to look at the root of the problem and would rather cover Sony's ass then see where the evidence leads. (yeah, I'm rather bitter right now)
Um PS3 exclusives do sell well, MGS4 = 4 million+, GT5:p = 3 million, uncharted = 2.5 million, Resistance: fall of man and Motorstorm = over 3 million each, Resistance = 1.5 million +, Little Big Planet = 2.25 million + and finally Killzone 2 = about 1.7 mlllion. So how on earth are these sales bad? Yes there not Wii Fit or Mario Kart Wii sales (20.3 million and 16.5 million) but they still are very good no matter how you look at them.
No need to thank me, :P.*Waits for the the inevtable shouts of worldwide sales.*

Because all PS3 owners are broke after buying a PS3 :PII_Seraphim_IIThat might be true. LOL But I think the main reason is its weak advertising. I admit, I find out about the games that I bought from sites like GS and IGN, not through the telly.

If I didnt go to GS, I would think they had stopped making games for PS3.
exclusives have been on lacking on both consoles. a lot of developers are making good games multiplatform to make money on both sides. People then buy the mp games before the exclusives. my guess anyway.epyonx3Good point. I do think the blu ray reason has some weight, as 2 of my friends with PS3's admit to not really caring about the games, it was about blu ray when it was expensive. Advertising is another reason, but so is cross media exposure. Halo hit it with novels, comics. Sony has a few trying this now, I think there is a Resistance novel coming.

now see this is just what im talking about. you didnt read my original post therefore you now look foolish. I SAID, 1- 2 mil is awesome. obviously more sales than that is better but exclusives on the 360 and the wii both outdo the ps3.
being realistic im not even speaking on the terms of wii sales. thats obviously out of the question. its gotta be advertising like someone said earlier but KZ2 was advertized to death unfortunatly it was only the same stupid commercial over and over again. its like sometimes they dont even try to be successful. you cant make a stellar game and not properly advertise it then complain about it not selling as well as you hoped it would....cmon sony at least put forth some effort.
In spite of the influx of new Sony IP's this gen (Heavenly Sword, MotorStorm, Infamous, Resistance, Uncharted, Folklore, LittleBigPlanet, Valkyria Chronicles, etc.), most manage to achieve fairly respectable sales.
As expected though, the PS3's biggest sellers will always be blockbuster/well-established games like Grand Theft Auto, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, God of War, Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, etc.
The funny thing is, no one gives the Wii or 360 slack for underwhelming exclusive sales. I'll cite examples if anyone honestly cares.
I said this in anouther post.......
Well its because stand alone BR players are now cheaper to buy than a PS3.
Sure at the start the BR player on the PS3 was a factor as it was one of the cheaper costing options. Actually it shows that it was a factor at first by the somewhat lackluster game sales for the PS3. What I mean is it seems as though by looking at the way games dont sell so hot that it shows alot of early adopters probably were not gamers.
Although in the PS2's case it was one of the cheapest DVD players you could get for alot of its early life. Sepecially in Japan and Asia where alot were snapped up for just that reason alone. But back then anyone with any TV could benefit from geting a DVD player. I would imagine Sony wanted the same type of thing to happen with the PS3 but to no avail with the small amount of HDTV's in the wild.

True, then peole see how over rated the game is and avoid it...
but if game fly is buying copies of the game, wouldn't it INCREASE sales?

Which is why I am in complete awe as to why SW is giving Sony slack on this. Seriously, the other consoles are eaten alive for this.

really? i see ALOT less wii commercials than PS3 and 360
i think it's to do with how it's advertised, i bought a DVD the other day and it had a brilliant advertisement for blu-ray films, and in the 'what you need to go blu-ray section' it had a big picture of a ps3, it's actually advertise really well as a blu-ray player and with the hardware acceleration, it's probably the best blu-ray player on the market, so i would suggest that a lot of that 21 million wher film buffs who wanted the best gear to watch blu-ray's on, which i actually think is a good thing, i mean you can play games on it, but who say's it has to be just a gaming machine?before anyone says anything selling a mill or two is still pretty damn awesome. but for a system that has 21 mil (at least) why arent the exclusives selling like they should? why dont ps3 owners actually BUY ps3 games?

Have you actually done research into Wii and 360's game sales Vs. their INSTALL Base?
The PS3 has the smallest install base out of the three companies, and therefore get less OVERALL Sales than the competition. New IP's take time to get going. What many people do, is they see 1-2 million sales for PS3, and compare that to the other consoles higher sales, and go OH NOES!
Better yet, the most POPULAR thing to do is post ONLY NA SALES, and limit the time frame on the PS3 game, like a few days, or a month, and exclaim, how can this be!!!
The thing is there are surprises in PS3 sales, a few multiplat games have actually sold BETTER ON PS3 than 360! WHAT? How can that be?
Plenty of PS3 games have sold well, but not every game is going to be a phenom.
Stop falling for misinformation in SW, the PS3 has had many threads about this over the last 2 years, and the last few hours, I've seen this type of thread about 6 times. PS3 Game Sales! Oh Noes!
There is something to discuss, but as I've said multiple times before, some PS3 users are Blu-Ray users. CNET rated the PS3 as THE TOP Blu-RAY player on the market, and people buy it all the time at places like Ultimate Electronics, Fry's, Best Buy, etc.

Just puttin' it out there: http://kotaku.com/5303488/sonys-exclusives-coming-up-short
Even it still only refelcts NA, the numbers are really telling. Of course, there are games like MGS4, but that seems to be the exception rather than the rule.
Sony tries to use a FPS as its franchise title knowing all shooter fans for the most part are on XBOX LIVE already. The idea of Killzone 2 being a PS3 savior was desperate and poorly thought out. Halo 3 first day sales numbers still eclipse what Killzone 2 has sold it's just pathetic. I don't think Sony knows it CORE consumer any longer if it even has one at this point. The PS3 is dying and not that slowly anymore I know we should wait and wait and wait and wait and you get the idea.
why do some people in here want to make it look like PS3 exclusives dont sell? what is the standard no. of sales (in millions)per game which is considered significant in here?
I dont see ALL the exclusives on other systems sell ALWAYS 5+ million copies..
If a PS3exclusive game is hyped by 1 million people and it shift 1.5million copies, somehow haters want to turn things and say well it didnt sell much because there are 21 million PS3 owners.. People need to undestand that not all 21 million PS3 owners hyped KZ2, Resistance2,SOCOM, GT5p etc but only a faction of that amount... (same applies to all other systems)
Why didnt Super Mario Galaxy sell 50 million copies, isnt it the flagship title for Nintendo, why didnt HALO3 sell 29 million copies, isnt it the flagship title for 360? They did have great sales but why didnt everyone get these games?
Its because Gamers have different tastes and even though games like all the ones i listed are amazing surely they dont appeal to all the install base (gamers).. So dont expect that if an exclusive for PS3 is hyped it has to sell 10 million copies in order to be accepted as having good salesjust because there are 21 million PS3 owners..

But isnt that true the world isnt NA only.
Because there is a better alternative the 360.
BloodyFalcon007
better lol nice joke
the PS3 games do sell xbox 360 just has more units sold which means more sales for games + only about 2 or 3 % of 360 games sell for example Halo 3 sells Gears sell.
but games like halo wars sell on par with PS3's 1 mil - 2 mil sales and games like Ninja Blade and Banjo Kazooie and many others bomb in sales.
the same with nintendo some games sell while some games bomb while call of duty games sell well on PS3 and 360 it doesn't do well on wii.
most game companies wish they could sell at the rate of most PS3 games the 1 million 2 million mark
Because there are barely any of them worth buying. I feel bad for the people that paid 60 dollars for Uncharted or Valkyria Chronicles. I got deals on them. LittleBigPlanet was one of the best purchases I've ever made, so I had no problem paying 60 dollars for that masterpiece. I got Metal Gear Solid 4 for 50 dollars because it was six months old, and I suppose it wasn't a bad purchase, except for the fact that I put less than 15 hours in to it (counting Metal Gear Online).

Not ALL exclusives on the 360 outdo PS3 exclusives. Mainly the exclusive games that appeal to their target audiences, games with guns or sports themed games do well. Rare's games and JRPG's however don't do nearly as well and are on par with many of the PS3's exclusives or worse. Heck if I recall correctly Banjo nuts and bults sold down right terribly. It has nothing to do with advertising, these games get advertised in places gamers go, websites and gaming mags. The thing is the PS3s exclusives don't appeal to ALL the same people. You have alot of different genres in their exclusives and not so heavy with online capabilities. At the end of the day pretty much all of these PS3 exclusives are selling excellently and more then justify a sequal which is all I care about. Not every game sells Halo numbers, even on the 360.[QUOTE="DeathScape666"]Because there are barely any of them worth buying. How does that automatically make me a 360 fanboy? I prefer the PS3 to the 360, but it's still overrated. I own a PS3, Wii, and a semi-decent PC; not a 360.It's because the PS3 was manily sold as blu-ray movie player. That's the true one and only reason. Those that bought it for games, play games on it an denjoy it. because it's only a population of 21 million. so if 2 million get sold that's 10% of the population of ps3 owners. that's not bad. mgs4 was 20%. remember that the ps2 had over 100 million and how many of it's games sold over 10% of that population?[QUOTE="slvrraven9"]It's because the PS3 was manily sold as blu-ray movie player. that's BS the playstation brand is known for videogames for 2 gens not blue ray to say it's sold as a blue ray player is down right ignorant.

At least all the big name exclusives can't be finished in an afternoon. Super Paper Mario's main quest is about 22 hours, plus there's bonus levels. Super Mario Galaxy is 30-40 hours for all the stars. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn is about 40 hours, and it can be longer on the hardest difficulty. Super Smash Brothers Brawl varies depending on how much you enjoy the core gameplay. Twilight Princess is about 50 hours, plus there are extra side-quests. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is around 20 hours. Hell, even No More Heroes is 12 hours long, which is longer than a good amount of PS3 exclusives. You could say that quality>quanity, but I would much rather take only an hour of Super Mario Galaxy over the entirety of Uncharted, which isn't much more than nine hours. They aren't selling well because no one is buying them. Too busing watching blu-ray movies.tylergamereview
so you're stalking 21 million people and check how they are utilising their PS3's ? cause thats the only way to know or else one has to deduct you're just another hater/fanboy who's only good in posting sarcastic nonsense/comments..
But you are right, PS3 owners have the luxury of playing great games and enjoying Blu-ray movies at the same time ;)
