From what I am notcing about alot of PS3 gamers is that they are either casuals who owned PS2s, or hardcore RPG fans who swore that good RPGs were coming to the PS3. My friends are all like this. They have PS3s, but they don't buy the great games.
Also when you have mulitplats like CoD 4, its really hard for exclusives to compete. If Halo wasn't so popular, its online would have been dead in favor of CoD 4.
with the economy and the price of games it seems that people no longer feel the need to spend their money on games.People find they can do a lot more with their money. the only people who are really purchasing games when they come out are the hardcore gamers. which seems to be about 1/10th of the users. I know someone who has a ps3 and has no games, no movies. they arnt interested in games. people just have a ps3 for all the other things it can do. a lot of the hardcore gamers dont have a ps3 yet because they dont have the money; and a lot of parents dont want to support their childrens gaming cravings. some people can only get two games a year. the economy is in such a state that videogames have to take a back seat
