Wonder what rez he is talking about? But again Graphics options is a double edge sword, it allows games to be played on lower rigs and higher end rigs. Sessler is forgetting that.

Well you dont make the adjustment to PLAY the game..

there just add on's, extra perks if you will...their there for PC gamers to costomize them..not only that but almost every game automaticlly does it..so its not really a problem there..I would rather have the choice to customize how i want to play instead of having a prefit choice of graphics..but thats me.

Really..this is a super weak arguement.

Most games auto detect you hardware and set the system specs automatically based on it. You tweaking is at your own discretion.

You dont have to...almost 90% of PC games Autochoose graphics setting based on your hardware..and games like crysis are starting to push the "1-button" graphics preset option

Not only that but there not fustrating..unless your installing a mod and you have to know where your game file are..which anyone can do unless you lack the complete skill to operate a computer at the most basic level..

This is all up to choice..its also a weaksause arguement that has been done to death and proven that its a personal choice many times

i like g4/use to. they still have ineresting things but not on video games anymore :(

its a little true about that. he mentions that he wants a pc that can play everything on high but could never find it. like he saids at E3 when he sees the games all nice and smooth but when he plays thier crap.

i just bought another gig of ram because now most games require a mimimum of 1 gig of ram. so i'l have 2 gigs in my sytem when ever i get it from newegg.com i also need to upgrade my video card. my 7900 broke i either get a new cooling device or get a new card. i desided to get a new card for christmas or something. once that is in i will be good for another 2 years.

pc gaming is nice to do. its a nice hobby to go around buying new parts seeing it unleash. there are also good fun mods. when a game comes out.

It's not that bad, but what sessler fails to realise is recommended requirements on the box are not the enthusiast requirements, which is also a good point that he makes(that system requirements are misleading). They should put 3 sets of requirements. Minimum, Recommended and Enthusiast.

This will be my only reply to this thread due to the TC's history.

It's not rocket science to tweak your settings. IMO it's very easy to know which graphical settings are the most graphics intensive so I can work around it easily. But hell my rig is FC2's reccommended specs. It runs the game fine with high settings.

I honestly find Sessler to be the minority.

It is true..

but not every pc devloper is going to hold your hand in the process..if you want to F'ing play the game you system better be up for it..or at least play the game at a decent frame before you come crying to us...People need to stop being lazy and BS'ing around blaming it on PC gaming.

If you want to play a game..and you know damn well your system can handle it at even the lowest spec..then instead of crying about "it looked goodz at teh e3ZZ!@@@, and now i can play itz!!!!" upgrade your stupid POS and stop crying like a baby..

God i hate G4.

From what I understand he is saying he bought his hardware based on teh the recommended specs for games were. Which obviously isn't smart if you want to max out the game smoothly at what ever rez he is talking about, but which makes him bring up a good point about the recommended specs on boxes.

Yes there were a few things wrong, but he also brought up valid points. It is a fair video for the most part. Remember he also said PC gaming is absolutely not dying and that it's awesome as well ;)

I swear, Jasonheyman, you are responsible for over half of the PC hating on this board.  Just take it easy man.

As for the video, Sessler is basically just asking for a console.  If he wants to have all the decisions made for him, than he really shouldn't be looking into PC gaming.  Arguably the best, and worst attribute of PC gaming is it's customizability.  All Sessler is doing is complaining about the negative aspects of it.  This has been done before countless times, and has always proven to be ineffectual every time.

I said this in my first post of this thread. He does have a point, but again he has to realise the customization is a double edged sword and he is only using one side of the argument.

Ok, we get it. PC gaming as problems that you don't like and hinder you from enjoying it.

Now that you've made your point, as you have with the previous 15 or so threads on the topic, go do something constructive.

then dont play pc games, pretty **** simple...;)

the graphic tweaking is very beneficial imo, whether you want higher framerates and lower graphics/resolution or higher graphics/resolution and lower frames, or a mix of the 2 and/or both of them topped out if u have a nice enough rig, its all up to u

people like u in particular might look at that as a hassle, but myself looks at it as very versitle and beneficial, especially when youy know what your doing

exactly, unless you upgrade after an install, but even then some games detect that too.

Thought this was gonna be about about the whole maintenance bit, and five million million possible hardware combinations and even more possible ways of something going wrong. Cause that is annoying.

Instead it's a bunch of whining about his recommended spec PC not playing every game on high at 50FPS. I thought it was commonly known amongst PC gamers that recommended specs are more or less bull. But yes, it would be preferable if they weren't.

Viral117 on the comments ~ "One thing about PC games is that recommended should be minimum. I have to spend 40 bucks to play a game that my rig might not be able to handle. Mine is a year old and its already outdated. But in defense some games have optimal settings which means that you dont have the burden but you dont have crysis-make-your-rig-cry Detail so what! i play games for gameplay not for graphics." ^^^^ What he said. I past FEAR's recommended specs, but it turns that the recommended specs was just for 'Low', one setting above 'Lowest'. :|

Most games auto detect you hardware and set the system specs automatically based on it. You tweaking is at your own discretion.

And from my experienced I can tell you that they almost always get them WRONG! :( All games puts my settings on high... but my PC can't really handle it. Although, the only game I ever got that can't even be played on the lowest settings is Titan Quest. But that's mostly because you can't turn off detail lighting and shadows, my 7300 LE can not handle those nor water. EDIT: But I am also not an hyperactive nut who want's to play every single game ASAP as soon as I get it. I like to prepare: Read the manual, read about newbie traps, etc.

pc gaming is fun, its the pc that can be frustrating, if you're not an expert at pc-related stuff. i hate when my network goes haywire or my pc crashes. takes me forever to fix it. but pc games are worth it, if you have a good pc. i don't, so i don't bother. older games are still fun, though. as are console games. they both have their ups and downs.

I rarely have to make tweaks to my games, they all run fine out of the box. Anyway, some people really enjoy tweaking their games to their preferance, that's one of the things I like about PC gaming.

I agree with some of the things he said, it can be really frustrating to make a game work the way u want it too. I remember crysis auto-detecting my hardware to medium and it was a slideshow.

PC gaming is fun, but it comes with some extra hassles sometimes.

PCgaming always has been less convienient, but at the same time it offers far more freedom and options to choose from than console gaming.

You can either have standarized gaming or flexibility, you can't have both. If you prefer the former go to consoles, if you like the latter, then PCgaming is the way to go.

Mr, Annoying voice has a point. Yes it's somewhat more of a hassle compared to consoles, but it's not as bad as he makes it look like. You can actually just set things on high-medium etc, and you are ready.

While complaining he said something along the lines ''I don't wanna have to set my lightning effects'' Well having those options is part of PC gaming's advantages. I appreciate being able to have some nice AA , particle effects etc and make my game look better overall by sacrificing some shadows.

Actually there are some frustrations when it comes to PC gaming, as there can be very much settings tweaking. Looking for patches, drivers or fixes. Dealing with software or hardware issues with your rig that might occur for tons of different reasons etc. Even sometimes have to edit text files to enable some locked graphical effects or get the resolution you want.

But when it all works as it should it's all worth all that effort imo and then the PC often plays in a league of its own.
