Lazy? I just explained to you that I patiently spent close to 8 hours getting a game I wanted to play running properly.

It takes more than 15 seconds to change the res if your optimum res isn't listed. Actually it was before I patched it, but that's another PC thing. And I can go on a 4 hour rant if I want to, I have all day at work.

As far as the other stuff: are you using your Xbox 360 to post on this forum? Are you at the library? Have you given up on the PC platform? Interesting. I thought the Xbox 360 didn't have a web browser.

I have given up on the PC platform. I use Macs. Every time I want to go back to my PC it does something to make me very angry and I turn it off again.  However, the Xbox 360 does not have a web browser, because it is for gaming, through and through. I play games on it. I turn it on, play, turn it off. The same games I'd be playing on the PC.

Note: The Xbox 360, as well as the PS3, have to be configured. If you have wireless, you have to tap into the network, if you have wireless devices, they need to be synced, you need to hook it up to your TV and your sound system, tweak your video, audio, and game settings, buy accessories, buy an online card and matching map pack, and do system updates. Do you not have to update your games on Xbox Live or something?

BobHipJames

All of the accessories work. Without any tweaking. Game updates? Here's a chart:

360:I press A. If I don't press A, I dfon't play online.

PC: Spend an hour looking for the 1.033 US/UK Download only but not Retail Box upgrade that must be preceeded by the 1.001-1.033 unless you already have 1.007f installed, that isn't on the games official page, but you can download the update via 3rd party mirrors that you have to register for, and if you do, you have to pay to get a bit rate of over 12kb. As far as tweaking, I select 720p, done.

As far as the other stuff inhibiting gaming: I agree. That's why Windows needs to explode and Microsoft needs to leave the market so that we can have a stable, unified, and secure operating system - Linux.

BobHipJames

I hate MS on PC, while I like them for the Xbox :P

And Linux is very far from being a unified OS. You want unified stable, and secure? Use Mac OS. Works great.

PS. I have been gaming on PC's since my Commodore 64. (Blue Max was my fav)

I have gone through:

C64

Tandy

286

386

Cyrix 386 (Whatever that chip was)

P-90

PII-333

P-III 450

Athlon 1.4

Athlon 3700+

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.whatever

So I have been playing PC games a long long time. I have invested tens of thousands of dollars in my hobby, and I hate to see it die, I know it has potential, but I am tired of being constantly let down. With the 360 I may not have the cutting edge, but I have what works very well now.

It does have its ups and dows, those are some pretty valid points.

There are some days I want to throw my rig out of a window, and there are some days when a game will blow me away. Nothing is perfect.

Well said.

One thing I should mention is that when i was younger, I didn't mind the baggage PC Gaming brings on. I just don't have the time anymore, that's a big factor as well.

There's a line between exaggerating and saying reallity.

8 firewalls??? really??? comon...

Bebi_vegeta

Okay, I gotta give you the 8 firewalls part.

Although, if you ever really want to suffer, just try to fix my grandfather's PC... he's convinced that ZoneAlarm, Windows Firewall, and his router firewall are all a good idea. And he's convinced that, since I'm a "computer guy", I can fix it. I love my grandfather, but I wish he knew that I'm a software developer, NOT a network administrator.
