you are missing the point. I am saying playing games with real life friends is better on a console. Thats all. And you will NEVER have a $300 "gaming" computer at the launch of a $300 console that will last the entire generation with out upgrades.

SpideR_CentS

and consoles at launch cost $300? last time I checked my old 20GB Xbox 360 was bought in 2007 for 350 euro

in fact, even today the cheapest you can buy a 360 is for 200

with no hardrive, no kinect, no games AND nearing the end of it's lifespan

oh and let's not forget that PC games are cheaper

also, playing games with real friends? I wasn't aware my friends were imaginary when we were all playing jamestown on 4 player local co-op on my PC

Xbox was 300 and 400 back in '05 at launch. PS3 was 500 and 600 in '06.

right, hope you have fun paying an extra 50-100 for a 20GB hardrive

wait... isn't that a *gasps* AN UPGRADE??!?

and also, why do I feel like the argument that PC games are cheaper is constantly being ignored?

you don't have to buy a harddrive to play games. And you can get a 8gb memory stick for like $15 if needed.

PC games are cheaper. It's not even so much of a cost issue as it is the pain in the ... issue off upgrading hardware to me.

isn't the current 8GB xbox 360 model critized for the lack of space? seems like suddenly standards don't matter all that much

hell, I eventually had to upgrade my 20GB hardrive to a 120 GB one if for no other reason then to install games on my 360 so that loud fan would finally stop

just do what I do, ask around on the forums

I never keep up with the latest PC gaming hardware trends. when I feel I need to upgrade I set a budget and ask around in gaming forums

- No doubt, but the genre's I play most are better on console. For ME the better games are on console

PC has its fair share of Fighting & Sports games (and not to mention superior racing games if that's a genre of your liking), you can always use a controller if you deem it preferable. This is unless of course you speak of exclusive games, which is understandable.

- Right, and I have never met anyone in real life thats a pc gamer that games on a TV.

Which doesn't mean it can't work.

- Not well. And not for the length of a generation

Multiplat games would be graphically on par, if not superior, with the $300 computer. If you deem that "not well", then neither are the console versions. In addition, many of modern PC games are not graphically demanding. Indie games, games that run on the Source engine, and not to mention the back-catalog of over 25 years of PC games can run just fine on a cheap computer.

- If you get a cheap gaming PC like you are saying (300-500) you certainly would have to upgrade. Look at the video cards that were around at 360's launch. Now if you got a PC that was 300 in '05 it's not running games well in '09 let alone '12

Same goes for this

- Nope, but still most monitors have a way faster refresh rate then HDTVs and again the whole I know at least 50 computer gamers IRL and none of them game on a TV (I work in a tech field. Yes I am one of the ONLY ones that doesn't game on PC).

TVs have decent refresh rate. You don't need a 120hz TV to play games.

- Played thru the entire Gears of War game co-op (as Rainbow 6 Vegas) split screen. But I am more refering to playing Fighting Games, Sports, etc on consoles anyways.

The splitscreen is limited to two-player co-op, I'm speaking of games that are built around splitscreen gameplay which was common in previous generations (ex. Timesplitters, with 4-player splitscreen in addition to bots and multiple game options). Fighting/sports games are understandable though.

that's because those of us that don't have expensive builds won't really post them in our sigs

my cost me 400 euro in 2009, it's not high end but it still runs most games I play on high settings

A $300 PC would only run the latest games on s**t settings. If you're gonna get into PC gaming, you might as well go big.

But it is pretty funny when you see "here's a $300 budget build that'll run the latest games on low-medium settings in 720p for the next 2 years" or some s**t like that. :P

It's like, you might as well stick with the console if you're only going to get console quality graphics/performance from a $300 PC. Especially when you've probably already invested a lot of money into things like games/DLC/accessories, ect.

Luckily, the PC I got for Christmas has an i5 2500k, an Intel DP67DEB3 mobo and a Corsair 750W PSU. If I go out and buy a GTX 580, I'd only have spent about $450 on a high-end gaming PC that could probably max the latest games @ 1080p for 3+ years.

Not everyone has that opportunity though.

I feel that if only the desktops people bought in retail stores came with a good dual or quad core CPU/mobo/PSU, and all you needed to buy was a decent graphics card, more people would be into PC gaming.

Buying/building PC's without the additional cost of a Windows OS is also cost effective. There are ways to get around that. Not that I'm suggesting anything "illegal".....

Just sharing my thoughts.

I don't game much on PC's because 1) I don't have the rig for it. 2) It too much of a hassle when you install the game and it doesn't run smoothly. 3) It's not plug and play. 4) Most of the games I enjoy and want to play are on game consoles. 5) Most of the game genre I like Sports, Fighting, Racing, etc.. play better on consoles and has a larger variety of games. 6) I could care less about Steam.

- Tons of games release every year for the HD twins that don't come on PC. Tons of Racing Action, Fighting games are just not on PC.

- I work on a computer all day, I don't want to game on one also.

- A decent gaming computer is 2 to3 times as much as a console.

- A good-great gaming computer is 4-8 times as much as a console or more.

- If you buy a console it is gtg with no upgrades for 5+ years.

- I like gaming on a big HDTV (I know you can hook a computer up to HDTV but that kinda defeats the purpose. Computers should and are used on ultra high resolution monitors)

- Same room multiplayer is way better on consoles.

Nice troll try but not good enough because

1) Tons of games , mods , online games etc etc releasing on PC as well..100% FREE!!.. .

2) So if you were working in your office with consoles all day instead you wouldnt gaming on them at your place? I rofled in real life...

3) I bought mine 1 year after PS3 release. Mine costed 750 , PS3 costed at that time 599...with no game... Differences between 2?Major ones. Do your math again

4) Look 3 because with that rig i just finished Batman AC at 1920x1200. Do your math again.

5) Look 3 + 4. Nothing to add here. Mythology is great thing and ...youre good at it it seems.

6) Ultra high res monitors...right... Whats the difference between a 1080p HDTV and an 1080p HD monitor? This is even easier than do 1+1=2...

7) Same room LAN ( more than 10 players playing together ) >>> Any console by default.

Now have a nice day and try harder next time. Cya

Wow, that was fast. You shouldn't have bothered, though, since the guy is either trolling or not intellectually equipped to understand this.

1. This is opinion to an extent, and I can see what you are trying to say. But to say that "Tons of games" come out more for consoles, no, a little more, liking those exclusives more, that is actually a legitimate reason to an extent. 2.Why does this matter? Is there some kind of magical taboo on your PC because you also work on it? Wouldn't being able to work and play technically superior games on the same device be a plus, because it's a more powerful all-in-one device? Isn't it less convenient to have to get off your PC and boot up your console to play? As opposed to exiting your work "program" or whatever, and then just double-clicking an icon and "bam" your gaming? 3&4. Console, $300 Xbox 360 or a $400 PS3 + $300-500 work PC (conservative estimate)=$600-$900, Good PC= $600-700 good for 3-4 years, monster PC=$800-$1100 4-5 year lasting. Did you fail math? 5. True, but for what? Sub-hd, endless, over abundance of repetitive sequels, choppy and gameplay worsening 30 fps or less framerate, closed and restricted online with less players and no mod support, less indie games, and higher cost per game, among other things... 6. So you say console is better for using HDTV's because even though PC's can you don't see the point because monitors allow higher res's? Well, Mr. Trollogical, first, HDTV's cost less per inch of size (32 inch HDTV is less than a similar size monitor considerably), and you will still get higher res's out of it because good HDTV's are 1080p and almost all console games run at 720p and often times even lower resolutions, but your PC will take FULL advantage of REAL 1080p, I PC game on an older SHARP 32 inch HDTV that also has my Xbox (which I do occasionally play) and Digital cable plugged in. 7. I guess a little bit of an opinion, but what about a LAN party? Have you ever played at one? No? Doesn't that mean you are arguing against something you know little about? Yes? Well I will let it slide because most console superiority supporters don't know little to nothing about the aspects of PC Gaming they bash. P.S. Hear is the real reason you don't PC Game, you are complacent with a mediocre product, despite a console+work computer setup costing nearly the same in the short term and more in the long term than an all in one Gaming PC. And hide behind a small list of exclusives and weird excuses ("but I work on my PC" WTF????) to justify it, I don't care what you "think" AKA were misinformed, the PC has plenty of quality games in EVERY genre, either PC exclusives or technically superior multiplats.

Why I don't game on consoles:

Owning all consoles is just as expensive as gaming PCs

Console games cost more

Console games look and perform worse

Consoles lack options

Console communities are normally worse

Even then, when I see console gamers claim they don't like the games available on the PC, I always have to wonder how many of them have ever given them a try. Or if they "prefer" console games simply because that's all they've ever played.

I just find it mind-boggling that out of the hundreds of games released each year, they never seem to find anything more compelling than Halo N+1.

Yup, they all act like they have had ample time trying out PC Games to shut us up, but that is rarely the truth.

Doesn't matter, because if they have, you guys will just move on to the next reason in the list to discredit their opinion. It's not honest discussion, but rather looking for an excuse to pretend you're superior to the supposedly uninformed "peasant" class.

Chances are you already have a pc.

Stick in a $60 graphics card.

Congrats you have a gaming pc that performs better than consoles.
