why is everyone hypeing Kill Zone 2?(Poll)

Realistic: John McClane dies within 5 minutes of Die Hard

Hyper-realistic: John McClane saves the day

Realistic: Marcus Fenix is decimated within a few seconds of the first emergence hole.

Hyper-realistic: Marcus can run through hordes of Locusts with a chainsaw gun.

Very few movies and games, especially in the action genre that are not based on real wars, are very realistic, and that is the way most people prefer it.

I'd say KZ2 is a good looking game, but it's not graphically defining, and yeah it really does use motion blur in an ugly motorstorm kind of way. It looks good, better than COD4 but its not genre defining. I'm hyping it AA simply because everyone shows those gifs around, and looking at the videoes, It just feels repetitive because honestly, to make a shooter AAA it has to be more than just shooting (good example of a AAA shooter is the Half life series, they went beyond the shooting) I personally would give Halo 3 a high AA because of it's excellent presentation and multiplayer, so no i dont think it's an AAA title in my books.

Gears has long been replaced as the best looking game a year ago... welcome to Uncharted. Second, PS3'ers aren't really dreaming of any 360 exclusives. The 360 has been a pretty slow system in the last year. Gears 2 looks great, but KZ2 still looks better. Almost any preview you read (and particularly 1UP's podcast which is composed mostly of 360 fanboys) agree that Killzone 2 is still the best looking console game they've seen to date. The online announcements for KZ2 seem pretty awesome... not sure how the single player gameplay will stack up against Resistance 2 or Gears 2 though.

And for those that think it looks like COD4, you're blind or have a really bad pc monitor. KZ2 is much smoother, has the most incredible lighting to date, and the best animations seen so far. Once again, I was skeptical on the gameplay until reading about the online... but the graphics have never been in question.

I agree that the Half Life series is probably among the best FPS series... along with Far Cry and Crysis. But as long as ppl still consider COD4 a AAA title then I believe KZ2 will be a AAA title. The single player of COD4 was just as repetitive, and KZ2's at least appears a little more immersive at this point. And the features of KZ2's online will definitely trump COD4... as it should, coming out a year later.

KZ2 is discussed ALOT in SW, but the vast majority of those threads are about the graphics I can guarantee that. Our definitions of hype must be different. Btw, I really don't see how you have not seen all the KZ2 threads I've seen here but peoples perceptions are curious things so it's always a possibility that my biases influence what I'm seeing but for real man I see at least 2 KZ2 threads every single time I'm on here and most of the time it's many more. I seriously didn't think I was exaggerating.

I personally think the game dosen't look very good at this point. The shooting dosen't look good or sound good at all. and the graphics and AI also seem to be lacking. And really why are the graphics being praised so much? They look good but I really don't think they are at the same level as "mind blowing" like gears of war whch game out 2 years ago on consles.

Not to mention we are all hypeing a sequel to a game which flopped pretty badly:o.

Every single picture has a huge amount of Blur, and I mean literally every single picture. If the blur covers up any sort of detail in the charachter models , then how can the graphics be great, Huh makes sense now , can you understand this concept. Did I say it will fail because of it NO...but it will fail as best looking console game because of it get over. Then people it does what your eyes do, get real now it;s an Eye simulator. Gears 2 has Blur to but guess what it uses it appropriatly Like when your Roadi RUNNING ,and when you slide into cover not when your character looks one inch left or right...get it now ..good.

It's a first party title that Sony has been advertising with videos and stuff for what, 3 years now? Maybe that's why. I think it's funny that cows used to bash the 360 for being a "shooter console" but now most of the games they hype are FPS.

Aside from some fancy looking videos of a guy getting shot and spinning around 3 times before he falls down, i don't see what looks so good about the game.... unless cows can tell me what kind of MAJOR improvements that this game will have over the first one. (and yes, it will need to have major improvements to match the kind of hype it's getting and avoid another disappointing score).

It's a little hard to tell from those gifs but i honestly don't see a lot of detail. Do you even know what detail is? It doesn't mean how shiny the black/gray metal or clothing is. Even Halo 3 has more detail

And if you REALLY want to see the kind of detail he's talking about, look up Mass Effect.

Killzone 2 has some of the best lighting for a console game this generation. It also looks like they're making good use of ambient occlusion, but I could wrong. Also, the animation is top notch. On the other hand, the models and textures are only average imo.

it doesnt stand out as th hype would imply but its decent and competitive with other console games announced. But nothing shown is earthshattering at all.

And those posting blurry gifs or small images, are they implying the game will look that blurry and have blue or red or green color fitler? Becouse it will give "eye diahrrea" .

I love when people post these pics...THEY DO NOT HELP YOUR CASE.Look at the bottom picture there is so much Blur you can see absolutlely no detail on the guy getting shot :roll: Oh but he's in a nice animation so the fact the guy looks like a big blur means nothing.

*edit* look at the bottom when he gets shot he does like a dance move when he gets shot :lol:

I personally think the game dosen't look very good at this point. The shooting dosen't look good or sound good at all. and the graphics and AI also seem to be lacking. And really why are the graphics being praised so much? They look good but I really don't think they are at the same level as "mind blowing" like gears of war whch game out 2 years ago on consles.

Not to mention we are all hypeing a sequel to a game which flopped pretty badly:o.

figures, coming from a crysis fanboy. see the vids. gears was too shallow, only had textures and gameplay with it.

and on the bolded statement, everyone knows the first flopped imo, but even knowing that, developers continued to make the game with the SAME title plus a 2. (kz1 looked great for a ps2 game fyi.)

maybe the gameplay wouldnt be revolutionary, but LOOKS great. and the demo vid on e32008---obviously on easy mode since the user couldnt hit **** and the ai couldnt hit ****

Either you have not looked much into this game at all or you are one of the many millions of fanboys that just want to hate on the game because it is not on your system of choice.

It clearly looks far superior to any console game from a graphical standpoint. To argue this is just plain crazy and irresponsible.

It has some of the best animations I have ever seen in any game. Bullets tear through enemies and spill blood that looks more life like than any game I have ever seen.

The sound affects are outsanding and the shooting, how can any of us know how it feels being that none of us have played it. The AI has also been raved about in many magazines and websites. So I think I will take their opinion on this, as they have played the game and you have not.
