In my opinion its kinda lame to bash on L4D2. Almost every game does this. Add in little to no new stuff. Almost every shooter does it. Only a new story mode, new modes, new weapons, new maps.

And vavle is doing Melee weapons (thats new gameplay, alot of sequels have no new gameplay element) A new zombie, new mode, new weapons, new maps.

So why is everyone complaining?!?!

I think mostly because they failed to bring out as much DLC as they promised

Charging $49.99 for something that could EASILY be done with mods or an update is just what gets me. I don't care what anyone says, its a bloody ripoff to stop releasing new content this early on. Hell most of what is in L4D 2 should have been in the original in the first place.

Mainly because of mindless assumption that L4D wont be supported any more after L4D2 comes out.

Mods could easily achieve the level of polish that L4D has? Voice acting? Weapon ballance? Effective use of lighting to create atmosphere?

Did you ever play the design commentary? You will find that L4D is one of the most well made games to date when you really take a step back and observe.

I was upset with the first one. Two hours of coop play (although fun and repetitive) with a versus mode that isn't too enjoyable? I'll pass on purchasing. A lot of people felt they were ripping people off with the first one, and kept hopes up with the idea that there'd be a good amount of DLC and updates, as well as a strong modding community for it.

Instead, Valve decided to charge $49.99 for L4D2, and for what really could've been just a free update. I'll pass on this one like I did the last one.

Not true at all. Only sports games do stuff like that. Sequals do add in the stuff you list but it's to a much bigger extent than what they're doing with L4D2.

Gamer outrage is so boring. Yes left 4 dead was short, but dammit it was fun as hell. Was it worth 60 bucks? That's highly debatable. But I've had less fun with games 3 times as long.

No I want to see maps and mods made by the someone in this thread who says it's EASY. I already know about mods. I have a PC. The issue is you don't like it don't buy it. Valve doesn't owe anyone squat. Nice way to repay them BTW after so many years of them giving the community stuff free. These aren't the best of times. Maybe they can't afford to do free right now. I just love how people are giving them the benefit of the doubt.

No wonder everyone wants to make console games.

I'm just disappointed they didn't reveal Episode 3.

Valve: Hey guys we are gonna reveal a new game

Me: OMG OMG

Valve: Its a very special and ambitious project we've been working on

Me: OMG OMG OMG

Valve: You've all been waiting for it

Me: OMG OMG HL2 EPISODE 3 OMG !!!!!!!!!!1111!

Valve: We present...LEFT 4 DEAD 2

Me: ...

Oh well, at least they've given TF2 a lot of support. I never bought L4D1 for PC either, so I guess I'll pick up the new one for PC.

They've already said that with significant upgrades to the AI directory, let alone the whole new mechanic of melee attacks, cannot be done with a simple update. They've also gone on record to say that they're not done with the first one yet. They still have content coming out for it.

I'm not one of those calling valve the new EA just because of this, that's rather dumb and like others are waiting for them to announce what's gonna happen. But still I just don't see this sequel all that worthy.

It's true, don't like it don't buy it, ppl just keep saying this but I'm just disappointed in the fact what the sequel to one of my most played games from 08 is turning out to be another game lacking in content. True L4D didn't have that much and was still fun but that doesn't mean more wouldn't have been nice and so far valve has been slow with it and obviously they are focusing on this.

I was surprised when I heard L4D2 was coming out later this year. It felt it was too soon. They should of just focused on releasing more contents for L4D.

I never played the first Left 4 Dead, so I am not hating on the game. The only thing I found funny was in the Microsoft 2009 E3 press conference, the list L4D2 under their "exclusives", just to have it say it was on both 360 AND PC at the end of the footage. I :lol:ed hard when I saw that. Clearly Microsoft doesn't know what "exclusive" means.

The content featured in L4D2 could have been made as DLC. Valve could charge the DLC $20-30 and it wouldn't be a problem at all. Fair deal, right? Instead, they're releasing it as a full fledged sequel, at full price, for some weak updates and additions. It's not like Valve. People say that "when CoD did it, it was fine and everyone was happy", but remember that CoD is owned by a company known for milking everything they touch. Valve are never known as people who did some mad milkage, so this is unexpected, and frankly, disappointing. Personally I did not find the original to justify the price tag when I got the game on release. I was only playing it for a half hour to an hour at a time, because the lack of content makes everything go stale quickly if I play constantly. I haven't touched the game in a couple months, and still have no desire to play it. If the L4D2 content was released as DLC for the original, then I would have a much, much greater reason to play the original for a longer time because of the greater quantity of content included, but I am sure as hell am not going to play another $50 for it. You can't say they couldn't do it, because TF2 has been doing it for more than a year now and the game is still just as fresh as it was when it was first released with TOB. It carries more than 2 dozen maps, a few different game modes, so far 6 class updates, more than 100 achievements to obtain, and the TF2 team still tries to polish it and fix it as much as they can TO THIS DAY. On top of that, it's only $20, and it carries more content than L4D1 and what possibly the second one will offer. Left 4 Dead could have easily gone down the same road, even charge the DLC, and it would have worked out fine and dandy. But this is just some straight up milking. That's my piece.

The thing is. When it comes to MS saying a games is ''Exclusive'' they know, WE know that ''exclusive'' means Xbox 360 and PC. Which still revolves around Games For Windows, right? Meaning not for PS3. Right?

You can't blame them really. I mean L4D is an awesome game. It took a LONG time for me to stop playing it. It's a great game. You might be right on the DLC part. But, I for one have NO problem WHATSOEVER paying for L4D2, it looks great, and I'm a big fan of Valve and they NEVER disappoint. I suggest giving it more time, and waiting for some word first, before saying it's some cheap update of L4D1. We never know, it might have a Story Mode. Or something more ''original''..... Let's wait a few months before overreacting.

I think my problem, and this goes back to the first one, is the lack of maps and weapons. As much fun as the game was, It was almost strictly multiplayer, you can play SP but its like playing UT. Except imagine how awesome UT would be with 10 maps... $60 is a ripoff. And since they already said L4D2 would have 5 scenerio's, thats not a hole lot more then the first.... so $60 for slightly more, I just don't see it worth getting, I'll get the demo and enjoy that...

Exactly, it looks like most of what is being done in L4D2 is dlc worthy. Unless L4D2 blows us out of the water it will be unnecessary.

In this case, give them more time to reveal information before jumping all over them. If it turns out it could have been DLC, don't buy it, but save your insane rage for when Valve actually makes it a business model. It's a tough economy, maybe Valve needs some security money.

maybe gamers need a reason to buy a game. DLC for L4D would have made valve money to make a bigger badder L4D2.

[QUOTE="PS2_ROCKS"]Charging $49.99 for something that could EASILY be done with mods or an update is just what gets me. I don't care what anyone says, its a bloody ripoff to stop releasing new content this early on. Hell most of what is in L4D 2 should have been in the original in the first place.Leejjohno

Mods could easily achieve the level of polish that L4D has? Voice acting? Weapon ballance? Effective use of lighting to create atmosphere?

Did you ever play the design commentary? You will find that L4D is one of the most well made games to date when you really take a step back and observe.

I reply to that with Black Mesa Source, a remake of Half-Life using the Source engine made by a devoted mod team. Valve fans are crazy modders. Left 4 Dead actually started out as a mod soo......

The thing is. When it comes to MS saying a games is ''Exclusive'' they know, WE know that ''exclusive'' means Xbox 360 and PC. Which still revolves around Games For Windows, right? Meaning not for PS3. Right?

Meaning not exclusive right? Stop trying. I don't need a 360 to play it, therefore it is NOT exclusive. Trying to twist that fact or reword it for your liking isn't going to change the fact it isn't a 360 exclusive. It not being on the PS3 means nothing to me. It still isn't an exclusive.

Because PC games arent usually like this, sequals take a few years to come out and its worth the wait. This gen we get a new sequal for a game every year. Cod used to be a amazing franchise but since this gen it has turned into crap, cod 3, 4, and 5 were all bad, with the exception of COD4's singleplayer the games were all trash compared to COD1 and 2.

Also this is going against what valve is known for, making quality games by taking their time. This is just going to be L4d with a few extra maps, funs, characters, and a few tweaks, a weak sequal like most games get this gen.

In the conference, it said "Only on Xbox". The game is not only on Xbox. So like first stated, Microsoft has no clue to the meaning of the word "exclusive".
