this doesnt make sense when cod does this but with at leaast 7 games, same with megaman not everyone upset with thosemayforcebeyou

Even if a sequel does come out and L4D(1) still has DLC, it splits the community and inconsistancies arise.

Now you're just being absurd. Spitting in the face? What? Funny. I don't remember them owing us anything. They are a company out to make money and provide products that entertain along the way. L4D was entertaining. We got new maps and a new mode. That's about the standard. What else were they suppose to give us? It's ridiculous. And even if they continue supporting L4D 1 during L4D 2, you refuse to be pleased? Disgusting I say. That's called being disagreeable.

Where did you manage toconjure up "spitting in the face?" from? If you actually read the post you'll see that he said "splits the community" which the release of L4D2 will most certainly do.

Now that I know Vavle doesn't live up to it's promises and is happy to leave the L4D fanbase in the dirt, why would I want them to do that to me with L4D2?

Long story short:

Valve has a track record of supporting its games long after release so L4D should be the same. Problem is that they forgot about these updates and decided to combine all these improvements for the price of 60 bucks, because the market allows for that.

Let's get one thing straight folks: L4D wasn't that big of a game to begin with. I think gamers are right to revolt. It's better for developers to know that people are angry now, than not know at all. If they backpedal at least, they show they are listening to gamers.

Daily player count on steam is 18,000. First day petition is 10,000. I'd be worried if I was valve.

Well, we've certainly had updates, the SDK is on its way, and we've already had a new map so far (plus survival mode modifications to all of the older maps). I guess if they get around to releasing another campaign, they'll have delivered on every promise.

I'll agree that it didn't ship with much content, but I still got way more hours and fun out of it than most other games this gen, so I thought it was a fantastic purchase. If you thought it was boring, or if you didn't get at least 50 hours of entertainment out of L4D1, then chances are more content would've left you just as bored.

Incorrect, they said they planned new characters, weapons, movies, and modes. Long way to go for that.

Whats this about spitting? Valve has created an extremely loyal fanbase based off of action completely contrary to this. If you do not understand this please do not bash all the people who have a problem with what Valve is doing with L4D. L4D2 is glorified DLC.

probably because L4D1 had very little content for it's price and it was assumed that they would support it like they did with TF2 and give it content updates.

In my opinion its kinda lame to bash on L4D2. Almost every game does this. Add in little to no new stuff. Almost every shooter does it. Only a new story mode, new modes, new weapons, new maps.
And vavle is doing Melee weapons (thats new gameplay, alot of sequels have no new gameplay element) A new zombie, new mode, new weapons, new maps.
So why is everyone complaining?!?!

Because an expansion and a load of free DLC should have come especially for a 60 dollar game that should have been 20 dollars.

4 Acts. At Least 4 Maps per act. So 16 maps at least. Game was okay SP but ya its a MP game with it being playable alone.

Is anyone else kinda annoyed by these stupid "Valve is just a company to make money, this mean L4D2 is a good thing", Really, its like you people dont even know who valve is, let alone played a game even made by them. If you don't know about the developer/company your talking about, then just don't talk.. Valve needs to make money yes, but that DOES NOT justify abandoning another game to work on a sequel less than 4 months later. People expected the same from valve as usual, Make a game, support it, and players will continue to play, this was something that every PC gamer knew about valve, one of the few companies that listened to its consumers like blizzard. everyone who bought L4D knew that it was going to get the same treatment as previous games, like others have said they still do updates FOR COUNTERSTRIKE, not source, but 1.6..if that's not loyalty to there fanbase i don't know what is. Another thing im sick of are people saying "Valve doesn't own you anything", of course they don't, but like i said before, everyone expected updates, why?, because that's what valve does, always has and always will. Seriously, it's like half the people on this forum went brain dead.

People like to cry as they get attention from it.

Lets al ljsut wait till the game is out and we can see how the game turned out. Also lets wait to see the price.
