Nintendos a leader, not a follower, they dont need mature games to have their console sell, and by god it shows.
Oh please. Nintendo makes games for your grandparents now. They don't care about core gamers.Because of the developers they don't get 3rd party support, not because of their decisions.
They only care about making people smile, or making money.
Not about image or other details like online or patches. They are about fun and if they think online is the way to deliver it they will.

What about the first party? We haven't gotten a great first-party title since Brawl.

I would say more of that than smiles, but it's obvious they are striking out on their own path, in the direction they think will make them more viable in the future. Changes like that always anger some of the fan base. It's fortunate they have a rapidly expanding new audience, even including grandparents.

Punchout is to be out soon and Sin and Punishment 2 is incoming, and a new Zelda, Pikmin and Mario game are in developement. While you are right, 1st party support is for the most part weak, Nintendo is atleast giving an effort. Only time will tell if their worth it.
I for one am a 3rd party guy.

"Wii doesn't need good games" ? Nintendo is stuck Pre 1996 whith its idea of "Core" games, all they have done is capture the causals. They are not a gaming company for us any more. oath you sound like Reggie, "Animal Crossing is Hardcore" make me lol from him, they may not need great games to sell but you can't deny that Ninendo has loast repect from nearly all the people who and most of those who love gaming, i am not a casual, i want decent games!Oh please. Your right, and while its a bit of athorn in the backside I thinks its a decision that most agree with. People want Zelda, people want Pikmin, people want Mario..... but, the question is how long will it last?
Slowly but surely Nintendo will bring out new IPs.

There are FAR less. There is FAR more causal pandering. Hell i would be happy with something DECENT, im not demanding a "Hardcore" game like CoD4 something like Plants Vs. Zombies would be nice, we have seen very little half decnet software at all since World of Goo and SSBB.[QUOTE="-Oath"][QUOTE="Aljosa23"]Oh please. Nintendo makes games for your grandparents now. Fun Fact. More 13 year old boys play "Mature" games like Halo or Gears than they do Zelda or Mario Kart. A young gamer isn't looking for fun, he's just looking for a game that will make him appear mature and edgy. For example, see pretty much every other System Wars thread.
There are plenty of decent games on the wii. Just because it has less AAA's and AA's than the PS3 and 360 doesn't mean it has no decent games altogetheroldmanriver1The market leader used to always be the leader because they had the most great games. The Wii doesn't, it's not even close. That's the only thing they revolutionized this generation, and as gamers, we should all be able to agree that's something that shouldn't have changed. But most Nintendo fans are willing to sacrifice their own enjoyment of this hobby so long as it benefits a multi billion dollar corporation that doesn't even know they exist, that they've developed a unhealthy obsession with over the years.

Why cant they just launch a console with FULL 3rd party support? Mature content like the rest of them? The best thing about the wii is the VC and maybe 4 games in all. If Nintendo is all about the first party support then atleast open more devs to make the games.Michael324they have: the NES ;)

On gamerankings there has been around 50 wii games with a rating of AA and above. If you can't find a couple of decent games that you like in that pile, then well um, maybe you should try a few new games out?

Yes I agree. However Nintendo IS releasing new IP's this gen along with the older ones. Tact of Magic, Endless Ocean, Dynamic Slash, Cosmic Walker, Excite____ (spiritual succesor to Bike but vastly different gameplay)...Where is the "great" in those games? The great is in Excitebots score...and it is a blast to play. Can't say much about the unreleased games obviously (Tact of Magic looks pretty great actually; There is minimal footage of Cosmic Walker and Dynamic Slash so I do not want to give false praise). Endless Ocean was also a pretty decent experience. The generation is not over yet.[QUOTE="SMR-Venom"]

One could argue that Nintendo are sellouts, and only care about money, and not quality games. This is very evident on the Wii. There are only a couple of good games, ina sea of garbage. They went for the safe bet this gen: kids, and grand mothers.Yes, there are some decent games on the Wii, but they're very rare.
They are smart for doing what they're doing this gen, but I discredit them for putting out/allowing too much crap, just for the sake of money. Especially when Nintendo was all about quality in the past, which makes them hypocrites in my eyes.
