Okay...before u Xbox Natal Lovers Come in Here..with your swords drawn and your claws out....I'm just a Gamer, like u... sure i have a ps2 and a psp and a ps3, ...but I'm not a fanboy, i just prefer Sony, anyway. Could you guys tell me, what's so big about Natal, I mean I watch the conference again..and you guys were impress with that, i mean i could have sworn i seen Natal from somewhere.... in fact i saw it in my room on top of my tv...oh yeah my ps eye. Call me a fanboy, or whatever but i just don't see the big deal with Natal.. i mean i can only see shovelware coming out for this...and tell me what natal can do that the ps eye can't... besides voice and face recongnition... Because games that use the ps eye, i don't need a controller for it, "my body is the controller" as you guys say, and yeah i gotta admit the games are kind of meh right now, but i've taken more interest in the ps wands that USE the camera and you gotta admit, that sword demo with the ps wands..opens the possiblity for something crazy that will appeal to the core gamers. But what do i know, your going to use the "Your a Sony Fanboy", not really.. i just prefer them, ...so tell me how this Natal is revoluntionary as Microsoft says..thank you

He originally mentioned the lack of a controller, but changed his mind.

In the VIDS for NATAL, there was a snipet of a woman using an INVISIBLE Controller made out of thin air and imagination.

Pretty sweet. I wonder where the triggers and guide button were on that invisible controller?

Yeah, I don' t know what is so revolutionary about a cam that has a half second delay between most movements.

Maybe it's revolutionary because MS said so?

Because it's "invented" by M$..... and it's "completely" different from the last gen PSeye. :x

-Pidokenny-

The current PSEye is is basically the same thing as Natal. The only difference will be the software, but Natal's hardware is really not that different from the Eye. Any software for Natal can be made for PSEye as well, so we'll probably see plenty of multi-plat PSEye/Natal games in the future. Sony's motion controller games probably won't go multiplat with the Wii though due to hardware differences, but we'll see... all they really need to do is scale the graphics down.

I'm really curious to see where Natal and Sony's controller/eye goes.

The only reason Natal is getting so much hype is because people believed the lie that was Milo, and they also don't know that the PSEye exists because they've never owned a Sony system (apparently, if they think Natal is revolutionary and couldn't see how it's just a hyped up PSEye).

I couldn't believe how quick Peter Molyneux saved his own *** by letting everyone know it was Microsoft's idea to lie about what Milo was capable of.

But doesn't Natal use two cameras to detect depth and have voice recognition... all without a controller.

And Milo was the biggest lie of this year's E3. I could probably ask "What's your name?" to the "AI" and he'll answer "Let's play with the water."

The PSEye has a built-in microphone, so it's capable of voice recognition also. The two cameras could be an advantage, which is great for Microsoft, but I can't really comment on them because we don't know if it'll really matter in games that only use the cameras to perform actions.

Sony's motion controls used in conjunction with the Eye already seem like a more practical way to play games. Like it was said during Sony's tech demo, it just doesn't feel right to use motion controls without buttons.

I am not. I love seeing these change. What we are seeing in gaming is what I have read about in Sci-fi books from the time I was 10. Things change and get better there are too many people on this board that would have been happy with the basic NES controller and got mad when Sega added more than 2 buttons.

I know you have been gaming long enough to remember that is where it started.

Look at the Wii and see the games which have been improved because of the motion controls. Not every game has improved but a lot of them have. Don't look at the video of Burnout to compare what the controllers are like. Look at has where gaming could go.

People often confuse the terms original and revolutionary here. Natal is not original - it's a refinement of something that was done before, much like the Wiimote. It may be revolutionary, but time will tell. Original means not done before, or having something particularly novel about it. Revolutionary means it changes things - things revolve around it, things after it are different because of it. The Wiimote, for instance, wasn't original since things like it had been done before - but it is revolutionary since gaming is changing as a result of it. The eyetoy may have been original (not entirely sure if there was anything like it before), but it was not revolutionary - it came, it was, and not much happened as a result of it. Think of it like Mario 64... Original? Not really - Jumpman came before it doing much the same thing. Revolutionary? Yep - Mario 64 became a standard, and inspired a lot of great games after it. Natal isn't original, and only time will tell if it's revolutionary. The eyetoy may have been original, but it was not revolutionary.

I'm on the fence, but I did see that show live.IT's right after Conan!

Look at has where gaming could go.

........so u were saying things like this when the first ps eye came out?.......

Yes and No....I was really big into DDR at the time the eye toy came out and no other game on the market. To say the truth I have never seen one being used past some videos. I have read about it and watched videos. So there is a lot of appeal there for me. But Sony has not supported like they need to. With DDR all it adds to the game is to see yourself dancing in the background. I don't want to see my fat self dance in the background. But even DDR shows you a more active part into gaming. Look at the eyetoy though from last year with the pet. That was amazing how the girl drew the car and the car showed up in the game. That is amazing and opens up ideas for gaming. I would love to be on people in the middle of all of this.

fanboys want them to die...Gamers and dreamers want them to come out with something better, To keep moving forward in how games are played and not move backwards as we did with the 360 controller being the same as the Xbox controller.

Chris_Williams

Well that's why. You can't simply ignore it.

Well obviously i didn't since its in my post Reading - Is it so hard?

Well that's the main reason why it's revolutionary. It's an Eyetoy clone without it. Really that's like saying besides graphics/framrate what's the diffrence between Xbox and Xbox 360 or Ps2 and Ps3 games. Nothing.

My post was more for the people calling Natal revolutionary than for you. Wasn't meant to be aimed at a criticism. I entirely agree that Natal shouldn't be called revolutionary until it actually does something for and to gaming. We'll see five years from now whether Natal was revolutionary... We know now it's not original. We also don't know whether it'll be as good as promised or not - could really go either way. All the people speculating, on either side, are doing just that - speculating. If they claim anything more, they're off base. My personal position is I don't like it. I like controllers - I want controllers to stay. Wiimote being revolutionary is a threat to the continuation of a traditional controller (let's face it - you take away the motion ability of the Wiimote and it's basically three generations behind the competition's controllers for ergonomics and general functionality). The last thing I need is something that might become Wiimote style popular coming out also.

Why not wait until it comes out and try it! That way you opinion will matter. I think it looks like it could be something pretty cool.

Ryusuke_Akihiro

We'll just have to wait and see.

Or maybe we won't. Any ideas on how Natal will have you move your characters in a game? How about moving the camera around in a game to see the world better?

I don't think that's the point of Natal. I don't think people will be playing such games with it (the standard 360 controller is still the main controller and Natal is not replacing it)

So what if most of the games turn out to be casual/sport/racing games?

Still looks fun.
