Why is Sony the only one still putting out challenging exclusives?

Because lems this gen are mostly dudebros. They like to play easy shooters like COD, Halo, and Gears mixed with Sports games and whatever trash Ubisoft is putting out. A game like Bloodborne would have totally flopped on the Xbone. Don't even bother mentioning something like NiOH.

Well he's a lem, go easy on him. Shooting aliens in his pew pew shooter takes a lot of concentration from him. It must be a hard game.

Didn't realize that was the case....I haven't been keeping track of the other systems, but Xbox One games like ReCore and Ori are challenging games to me. They just recently introduced a new difficulty mode in Dead Rising 4, and then you have games such as Forza which go to great lengths to provide a lot of customization options as far as difficulty is concerned.

Of course you also have all the 3rd party stuff.....bottom line is I have no issues getting challenged in my games on XOne. The slightly lower difficulty overall of some games is part of an industry trend imo, not necessarily isolated to one system.

Both Sony and Nintendo are responsible for publishing some very good titles in NA and Europe. There. :)

there is literally nothing difficult about dark souls or bloodborne. it's just a trial and error game with cheap random deaths. most bosses are just cheese roll and hit over and over.

I agree. Even though I don't play many Nintendo games these days, I recognize they've put out some great content through the years.

My post was to completely moot yours. The fact you mentioned that Sony as "delivering every single generation amazing/great/good/decent exclusives while they trying new IPs again and again," is as absurd and overrated. While it's true they do create more IPs, but a lot of them are either mediocre and garbage, without any sustainability or economical viability. That is why some of them are LONG GONE, out of existence. This is only proves Cows are full of shit when they boast about those exclusives.

My point is (and Pedro made a point) that Multiplatform games from 3rd party developers are the vast majority that actually do sell versus the amount of exclusives that Sony has. The Playstation platform have always thrived on 3rd party support, that's where the "VARIETY" comes from, while "exclusives" as most of you cows boast about like the Gospel, are a second thought to most gamers......MOST gamers. If it wasn't, then 54 million PS4 gamers would have bought every single IP exclusives on the PS4.

You can list and ponder about all the IP exclusives for 4 generations in the Playstation library, but that DOESN'T change the fact that multiplatform 3rd party games are what sells on the Playstation consoles (and other platforms) and drives the industry.

Sony and great exclusives go hand and hand. That's why many have purchased the PS4.

that's not difficult though. trying to figure out what to do does not equal difficult. difficult is knowing exactly what to do and having trouble pulling it off. once you learn what you need to do it's easy.

Except as I proven before then why is nobody buying sony games? all the PS4 owners are playing Fifa, CoD, BF, Battlefront, Fallout and not the exclusives. 6 of the top 10 selling games on PS4 are 3 Fifa's and 3 CODs. 9 of the top 10 are on xbox as well. only 3 out of the top 30 sold are PS4 exclusives and out of those 3, 2 are last gen remasters (TLOU:R and Uncharted collection). only 1 game in the top 30 selling PS4 games is a new exclusive game (Uncharted 4)

My opinion is different than yours on why the PS4 is selling like hotcakes. Yes people are buying multiplats, but gamers also expected a particular level of exclusives from Sony.

but even the top selling PS4 exclusive only has a 8% attach rate. most of sony's exclusives don't even have a 3% attach rate. exclusives aren't selling consoles. it's power and price point and brandy loyalty. Hell even the slim outsold the pro 6:1 during the holiday season. the best thing sony did for it's sales was 399 and for MS to come in at 499

Sony is the only company out there that provided AAA caliber exclusives and new IPs when at the same time was under a CRAZY financial. Give some credits please and stop crying.

Im glad they trying new things and not get bored with same games over and over. Last gen , Uncharted out of nowhere became one of the best games for its entire generation with UC2 , Last of Us same ! Same with PS2 and numerous exclusives like God of War. Ps1 was another beast with games like GT , MGS and many other AAA exclusives titles from 1st and 3rd parties.

Many failed , many succeeded , many were mediocre. But theres something for everyone , thats variety.

THATS why Wii U died and thats why Xbox one has a rough time to be appealing to masses. Because they lacking new IPs . As I have said before, you can't force Japanese devs to not support japanes consoles. If I'm making a game and looking for a publisher, of course. I want my local fan base to play it. Obviously they go to Sony because Japanese gamers are fiercely loyal to Japanese console makers. Then Sony may publish it elsewhere. I wouldn't pay extra money to get Japanese devs to let me have the game in the states that Sony isn't paying them.

People think there isnt nationalistic pride at work here. But like a Japanese game home rnalist said on G4 tvs TGS coverage, Japanese like to support their own first when it comes to gaming. Not MS' fault.

@reduc_ab_: The data for the hypothesis is there. For one, a Japanese game journalist stating it at TGS in 2007 to Adam Sessler. Two, MS made a push for Japanese games on the 360. They sold middlingly. So Japanese devs may not wish to go to that platform because A) they aren't reaching a large % of Japanese gamers in their home market. Even the 360 with the JRPG support didn't sell well in japan. B) as the journalist mentioned in 2007, the Japanese people are loyal to Japanese console manufacturers.

Of course you stick with your own. You reach the best numbers potential of your home market and foreign markets like the US and EU. So you tell me, how would you suggest MS make inroads to this?
